'09 Boys HS Season

The 2008 boys high school season had a lot of parity with many very good teams. Who will emerge as this years champion?

102 - I agree they can control the ball, but they can not breakdown a packed in defense in the attacking third.

Of course they may not need to the way they can shoot the ball from distance.

I think AV players know what to do without much instructions from Scanlon. They've been at MRL level so it should be no brainer.

Conference Champs Update 10/9

Classic Lake - Armstrong.
Lake Conference - Apple Valley.
Minneapolis City - Minneapolis Southwest.
North Suburban - Totino-Grace.
Northwest Suburban - Anoka. ** Update **
St. Paul City - St. Paul Como Park and/or St. Paul Central.
Suburban East - Woodbury. ** Update **

XMan Games to Watch - Saturday 10/10

** MUST WATCH **
Minneapolis South vs. Robbinsdale Armstrong - 3:00 PM at Robbinsdale Armstrong
This should tell how better Armstrong comparing to Minneapolis Southwest.
The Falcons need to make a strong case for #1 in Section 6AA.
They better trounce the Tigers more than 3 goals.
I have Falcons 4-0 Tigers.

White Bear Lake vs. Stillwater Area - 5:00 PM at Stillwater Area
The Bears need to win this game to secure #2 in Section 4AA.
I have Bears 2-1 Stillwater.

Elk River vs. Eden Prairie - 10:00 AM at Eden Prairie
These two could possibily meet in State Tournament (if they can win their sections).
I have Elks 3-2 Eagles.

This year section playoffs will be more interesting.

Section 1AA. It's a toss-up between 3 team.
Section 2AA. It's a toss-up between 3 teams.
Section 3AA. Apple Valley. No questions here.
Section 4AA. It's a toss-up between 4 teams.
Section 5AA. It's a toss-up between 4 teams.
Section 6AA. Mpls SW or Armstrong.
Section 7AA. Anoka.
Section 8AA. Elk River.

Seedings are important so I'll get more details once section brackets are up.

Could someone give me some insight on how All-State/Mr. Soccer is decided?

Anonymous said...

Each conference has their own meeting and rank their players 1 through whatever I don't know how high. Then when figuring Mr. Soccer you must have been voted best Senior in your conference to be up for the award. As for All-State I believe it is limited to 3 players from a team which is unfortunate as im sure this year as it has been in years past some teams have more than 3 worthy of it. It just works this way for the coaches all state team though. StarTrib and PP have their own methods im sure. When figuring the All-State team though the conference rankings are used for those as well because you work your way down the ranking list for how many your conference is getting that year. That varies pending on talent Im sure.

3:28 Stick to soccer. Go somewhere else to discuss politics.

Anonymous said...

I agree. tomASS, you're constantly adding irrelevant and pointless information to this blog which is a pain to continuously sift through to read about what this blog is actually about (soccer).

Anonymous said...

couldn't have said it any better ^

But it's so much fun to tweak him.

AV I don't know if beating Hastings or Richfield is anything to brag about.

Anonymous said...

how about going 18-0 in the regular season

Me Xman you aren't your usual hard-nosed self with your vague predictions for sections... what does your gut tell you for those sections with 2 or 3 teams in the mix in your opinion?

tomASS said...

443 - fine reading of the moniker

600 - since when has anyone really discussed the game of soccer on this blog? What sifting? you see my name skip over it, is scrolling that difficult for you?

602- it wasn't said, it was written

659 - oh to the contrary, the fishing is so easy in here that you almost don't need bait. Who's tweaking whom?

Anonymous said...

I thought it was Joe McCarthy

Anonymous said...

Look at the last three posts before you
tomASS...I believe they're all about soccer

Anonymous said...

People really shouldn't argue that apple valley isn't the best team. Its the same team that won summer state. They are the eden Prairie of last year. But Eden Prairie actually had good competition. No one can compete with Apple Valley. The question should... be who is the second best team in state? Or who can play a 6-3-1 and tie them?

tomASS said...

1044 - how yeah very compelling soccer statements - the one to XMan is the only one of the three that has substance

1147 - I would go with a 5-2-3, have the two mids play centrally. You need more pressure up on their defense to prevent easy direct balls in. The outside backs would support the mids on the attack . Two mids would clean up the central slop. But we are splitting hairs depending on the responsibilities you assign the players in a 6-3-1. The cliche about controlling mid field is out the window when you play AV. There is little midfield play that influences their attack.

You will also need a very organized defense that does not ball watch

Anonymous said...

xman nice prediction on South vs. Armstrong, only off by about 5 goals. South was the better team.

Anonymous said...

Armstrong had off day or South is that better?

Anonymous said...

South was better, they have 2-3 of their top guys back from injuries from what I heard in the stands that just started playing recently. 2nd place city conf. team beat classic lake champs...that should tell you a little about the quality in the city and shows even more that SW is very deserving of the #3 ranking.

Mpls soccer guy said...

Two years in a row for South over Armstrong, which actually played better than last year (4-0). Look for these two teams to meet again Oct. 19 in 6AA semis.

Anonymous said...

Burnsville 1, Bloomington Jefferson 0

Now let's hear from Jefferson's cheerleaders.

tomASS said...

1035 - very original, nobody has ever come up with that one before ;-)

Anonymous said...

South has two Westside players returning, both are very very good and one may be the most talented player I have seen. Both are also leaders which is just what south needs.

Anonymous said...

6:59 Doesn't have to be original - just accurate. :-P Just glad you have a sense of humor.

Anonymous said...

South also added from an injury one of the best 9th graders in the state. he scored the game winner vs. Armstrong.

Anonymous said...

South should jump to the #2 seed behind SW.

What do you guys think of Benilde-St. Margaret's team this year?

Anonymous said...

BSM has been on a downhill slide since they won state in 2006. Blew their chances in the state quarters in 2007 and not very good at all last year. Must not be recruiting as well recently, or is it that their assistant coach left for his own gig after 2007 (which only lasted a year. Parents can be brutal).

Must have been a close vote total to put Armstrong over South, who beat them yesterday. I've been in seed meetings before where the top seed was unanimous with 7 pts, next 4 were separated by a point a piece. Interesting to see how close you can be to a home game and not get it. SW has a nice home field, but South has a terrible stadium.

I guess you have two city teams that might support each-other, while the suburbs/country teams might support teams they know?

Anonymous said...

well Armstrong might get another shot at South. That should be a good one assuming they both win.

That's pretty cool but I don't think either of those players have played for Super Eagles for a while. What is that list based upon?

How do you get on that list? Is it from nomination or from trying out and performing?

Anonymous said...

@ 10:39

Frederick Neher - He goes by James, he is an excellent goalie. Quite a big boy, around 6'4" and 215 if iI had to guess. He plays for Mahtomedi for school ball and Black Hawks for club ball.

Ryan Goddard - He is one of the 2 Jefferson players that is on the Valley United Premier team. He is potent up front and is is the creator of the majority of Jefferson's scoring opportunities.

Brandon Wolf - Brandon also plays for the Valley United team during the summer and I believe he played up front. He was on Varsity for Rosemount his freshman, sophomore, and junior year playing as sweeper/stopper but for his senior year he switched to football because he didn't get along with Rosemount's coach. I heard that he has a verbal agreement to go to UW Milwaukee for college next year.

i believe the TopDrawer Soccer info is based off their evaluations and internal rankings. If you aren't currently in their player data pool (especially for grades 2013 and younger), i think all you might have to do is send them an email? Not sure. Most of the older graduating years listings I'm sure were compiled off of MNT, ODP, etc... info.

What are youre predictions for section winners of 1AA 2AA and 6AA, three close sections with some talent. I say toss up between Jefferson and Ep for 2AA, North for 1AA, and SW for 6AA

Anonymous said...

For 1AA I'd say Lakeville South beats Lakeville North because South has more depth and speed, North relies to much on 2 players. Also in the event they do play each other, it would be at South because they are the higher seed.

For 2AA I'd say EP over Jefferson. I think the teams are really even but EP has a better midfield.

For 6AA I'd say Armstrong. They are used to tougher competition, I don't think SW will react well aganist stronger team that they aren't able to run up the score on.

Anonymous said...

armstrong just lost to south...no way they get out of section.

tomASS said...

I have seen EP 3 times this year - They barely beat Chaska, They barely beat Chanhassen. Those games showed me an ordinary team.

Jefferson will win again in section 2

Anonymous said...

828 thanks for the input. I see where youre coming from with South of North..but I could also see it going either way. And with the armstrong loss to south, it seems that SW could come away with the section, but I think Armstrong could pull through. EP has been looking quite average, but so has Jefferson. I think it will come down to Jefferson being able to play the soccer that they know how to. Ive seen moments of great soccer, but the inconsistency is a huge issue for them. I mean a tie to Kennedy? (could be blamed on the field- it was raining, and it's the worst field in the state). I think Storlien will pull out another state birth. He could do so much more with the talent he has though.

What's up with Osseo this year?

Anonymous said...

Osseo has won several in a row, but they are way down. They had a kid from Vietnam on the team. Turned out he was 21. (Fresh off the boat--honest mistake) Had to forfeit 3 games.

Then the AD and coach started vetting all the players. Kicked off three more Liberians--kids that lied on their paperwork. Yow, huh? The AD there is on top of it, from what I hear. Let's not even think about last year's Osseo team...

Had the chance to watch about 10 HS games this year. Including Apple Valley, Minneapolis SouthWest, Edina, Woodbury and Jefferson. Boys HS soccer is poor, very poor. Outside of AV's ability to consistently score goals, the quality of play is in the basement...nowhere but up for next year...I guess.

At least HS has cheerleaders and friends. Traveling don't have any. Mostly parents. BTW, HS games play in stadium too.

Instead of ragging on h.s. soccer just accept it for what it is. there are almost 200 teams in a and aa combined. As a result the talent is diluted. Quit watching games if you think it's that poor.

Burnsville over Eastview... what happened at that game?

Anonymous said...

Can someone please explain how teams are grouped together in sections? How does a team like Hastings ever have a chance when they are grouped with schools like AV, Burnsville and Eagan. Seems to me like things are a little lopsided in the sections and definately favor the bigger suburban schools!

Anonymous said...

Way to go Burnsville - Go get AV!

Anonymous said...

I believe schools can petition to get section reassignments.

Anonymous said...

Burnsville also just beat Jefferson and tied EP earlier in the year. They only lost to AV 1 to 0 the 1st time so maybe they can find a way to win!?

Mister Soccer said...

10:45 - Are you telling me Hastings should be in the State Tourney even if they can't beat AV, Burns and Eagan? Shouldn't the State Tournament simply be:

AV
Woodbury
Anoka
Southwest
Eagan
EP
Jefferson
White Bear

HS Soccer is as logical as the BCS system. It's almost as though MYSA is running things.

tomASS said...

mister soccer - LOL now that is funny no matter what type of soccer fan you are

They have a few outstate sections--and several metro sections. They tried to limit it a bit with the semi-suburb schools like Elk River or Hastings. Some poepl got tired of the same team (like ER) going to state every year while the teams in their conference beat them during the regular season.
They trie to split up the major conferences into two sections where possible.

9:24 - Eastview scord Eastview didn't have much offence, they were basically relying on Benda to be a one man show up front. Eastview took a 1-0 lead around half and tried to sit on the lead. With 15 minutes left Burnsville got Zimenski, Eastviews sweeper, out of the center and was able to sneak a goal in. Then it was all down hill for Eastview and Burnsville finished 2 more mediocre goals.

The two following goals were anything but mediocre. Maybe Ziminski was so distracted from all the yelling his coach does to him.

What is more confusing:
A. High School section assignments.
B. MYSA district assignments and schedules.

Funny thing is: give me 5 hours and I could sort out both, for each class, for each gender, for all ages and I could make it be a thing of beauty and logic. Funnier thing is: we pay a bunch of dummies to do this stuff and I would do it for free.

tomASS said...

Mr. S - asinine more so than confusing.

Anonymous said...

Are you sure that was Z's coach or his dad, who has been famous for years of yelling at his kid what to do.

Anonymous said...

Oh, you must be referring to "psycho Joe!"

Anonymous said...

Joe is a good guy. Easy Psycho!

Anonymous said...

AV's Rosenthal will be Mr. Soccer. He has the best stats for the best team. I don't know if AV has ever had a Mr. Soccer before, have they?

Joe is a bit psycho, say he is nice guy doesnt mean anything. Petters, nice guy, Hecker, nice guy, Madoff, nice guy, Dohmer, nice guy...

Anonymous said...

Stats aren't everything...in fact, maybe not so much as much as is the player well rounded, a team player, unselfish, AND a great player. The whole package.

Anonymous said...

What....are you kidding, based on the past few years I would say it all about the hype. Postings regarding the player here, talking to coaches throughout the state about the kid. Stats do help get the coaches attention. Your coach has to be willing to sell the kid to his peers. He has to be respected by the other coaches. Your coach should hopefully be on some the sections committees so he can be sure to work hard for his players. (like Jason Jacob from last year)

It is a political process, JY has done a great job selling PY and I would be shocked if he wasn't Mr. Soccer. On the same hand I can't think of anyone else in Class A that should be Mr. Soccer. In Class AA, I would say it still up for grabs. What coach and family are willing to start the buzz.

Anonymous said...

What was the first year Mr. Soccer was awarded?

Anonymous said...

Who are all the contenders for AA Mr soccer?

Anonymous said...

Rosentahl will not be Mr Soccer. The player of the year from the Lake Conf and all the other Conf who are seniors are up for the award. Which means only 1 AV player can be up and it will be #1 the deep sweeper. Trust me on this. Scanlon loves the kid and does not love Rosenthal.

Anonymous said...

Can someone who was involved on the process last year tells us how all state players are selected?

tomASS said...

eenie, meenie, minnie moe, catch a parent by the toe

Anonymous said...

The Sweeper is so overrated from AV! He is good but some people make him out to be greatness. He struggles to put his free kicks on frame like AV usually does.

Anonymous said...

The choice for Mr. Soccer is quite clear:

-Top 5 Goal Scorers for the Lake Conference
---David Rosenthal, SR (Apple Valley) - 31
---Justin Clark, SR (Eagan) - 17
---Luke Grittner, SR (Eagan) - 16
---Tom Obarski, JR (Apple Valley) - 15
---Ebenezer Mengistu, JR (Park of Cottage Grove) - 12

Granted, goals aren't everything, but the gap between Rosenthal and the rest is pretty remarkable

Mister Soccer said...

Whitney didn't win it last year because of hype, buzz and parental help. He won it because he scored a ton of goals for the best team and he had been a top player in MYSA and ODP for years. I'd say he was a top 5 U17 player last summer.

You have to be the best player on one of the best teams to win Mr. Soccer. So, who is the best player on each of the top 10 teams? They're the players that will be up for it.

I would rather have a State Title than a Mr. Soccer. Scanlon probably would too. The best player on AV should probably win it. It will be like Jeter winning MVP even though Mauer is better and more deserving.

Everyone should want rings over MVPs.

Can anyone answer why for Sections that all the A schools have 14-16 teams in their brackets and all the AA schools have at the most 9. Couldn't the AA schools combine some of the brackets. Just seems out of wack.

Anonymous said...

could be that there are a lot more A teams than AA teams.
not sure how to correct it other than to lower the enrollment number that determines whether you are A or AA, but that really wouldn't impact the top A teams as they are traditionally the smaller private schools which aren't currently near the current number.

Anonymous said...

By combining brackets how would you still have 8 sections? If anything that would make it even harder to get to state.

Anonymous said...

AA has 65 largest schools and A has everyone else, 120+. what do you mean combine some of the brackets 1155?

Anonymous said...

Maybe they need to change the criteria for A and AA, I know its based on student population, maybe you can move some of the larger A schools to AA, since there are 8 sections for each A and AA, wouldn't it be better to try to level it out to some extent. Maybe making it harder for some teams to get to state makes it worth it. Some of the brackets make it real easy for some of the schools to always qualify for state.
Just seems to me that they could try to level out the fields somehow.

Anonymous said...

IMO, its not the quantity of teams in a section but the quality of teams in the section. Look at the best Class A sections that have a lot of teams. The top teams either get a bye or destroy some really weak low seed. It's based on geography. If the top 5 teams in the state are all neighboring schools, then unfortunately only 1 is going to make it to state. Unless they set up a NCAA style tournament where everyone gets seeded in one big bracket, not sure what you are gonna do.

Anonymous said...

I sense someone out there has a specific example that pertains to them regarding the sections. If so, please provide us the details so everyone could provide feedback.

Anonymous said...

1040- Jefferson is still rated because they finished with a solid record and some good wins. They beat Edina, tied EP, and showed that they are a contender to win their section. Conference play isn't everything. When Jefferson plays well, they play very, very well. Everyone feels like they have to bash on Jefferson all the time, when really no team stands out other than AV. Too much negativity on this blog.

Anonymous said...

I like the idea of a NCAA bracket but how do you determine the seedings? Currently aren't sections seedings determined by the coaches in those sections? How would this work with a NCAA style bracket. I think it could be a real interesting format.

Mister Soccer said...

Didn't I mention that Section Allocation is asinine to the extent that it's as though MYSA is running things?

Really, I mean things when I say it.

Don't waste your time trying to hash it out. It's been this way forever.

In the end, the best team wins it all and that's really all that matters.

Anonymous said...

Mister Soccer - although your effort at sorting this out would be valiant, I can pretty much guarantee you that for every scenario that you think you've solved, 50% of the folks out there won't like it. What seems "right" in your mind might not be "right" in others.

You are absolutely correct in that in the end, the best team wins. The only caveat to that would be if the two best teams are in the same section and play on someone's home field versus a neutral site.

Mister Soccer said...

The better team likely earned the home field. Most section opponents play each other in regular season (if the coach is smart in scheduling). Thus, the home field advantage is to the better team.

You're correct, however, my scenarios would certainly be an improvement. I can guarantee it.

Wait. That's selling myself short. It can be as easy as knowing there should be an 8 team playoff in College Football instead of the BCS. So simple, so logical, so beautiful.

This nonsense happens everywhere. Why do the Wild play Vancouver and Edmonton instead of Chicago and Detroit?

prairie seeds academy will win class A. This is no joke they are a hand picked team that just played exhibitions all year. I do not know how they got in but they will crush.

Anonymous said...

9:52 AM Dude you've got to get out and see more soccer than just the Lake. Lot's more Mr. Soccer candidates than you know. Nice try though.

Anonymous said...

so let's hear some names 7:37....instead of nice try...give it a try.

Anonymous said...

Who knows more about this Prairie Seeds Academy?
Is this the team that a bunch of kids form northern suburbs moved to? Does Isaac K. play on it? I heard he had left Cooper (previous to that played for Armstrong) and gone to a charter school, maybe this is it?

How can they play exhibitions and be in sectionals?

Anonymous said...

740...I just did a little looking and came across a rule that states a team has to play in 3 official varsity contests to be considered for tournament play. Did they? I'd also be curious what the rules are on recruiting and if they followed them. I'm in a AA school so this doesn't affect me, but this seems beyond unfair. They are in Totino's section too;

WB wasn't the best player on his team.

Anonymous said...

Lake Conf has 3 sections where they are seeded 1 and 2. That is impressive. Section 1 Lakeville's 1 and 2, Section 2 EP and Jeff, Section 3 AV and Eagan. No conf can claim that. As for Mr Soccer it has to be a senior who is the top rated player out of their conf. Rosenthal is not top in the Lake so he has no chance. The sweeper is #1. So he will win it. Its a slam dunk. Trust me.

Anonymous said...

Eddie Becerra from SW should be given serious consideration.

Anonymous said...

11:08,

Rosenthal isn't the best player on his team either, but Mr. Soccer is heavily biased towards goalscorers, essentially who made the biggest impact on helping their team win, which is undeniably Rosenthal. He's almost doubled the goals of any other player in the Lake, which like (I believe) 7:52 was going for, is the best Conference in the state.

Anonymous said...

Northwest Suburban has Elk River #1 in section 8, Centennial #1 and and Osseo #2 in section 5 and and Anoka #1, Blaine #2, and Coon Rapids #3 in section 7

Anonymous said...

If/When Bijan Jabari wins Mr. Soccer it will be embarrassing to MN soccer. No wonder why we don't get any respect for boys soccer around the region/country

Anonymous said...

1108 you are missing the point. If Rosenthal wasn't voted the best player in his conf., and he may have been, but it sounds like the 'sweeper' might have been Scanlon's choice. If that is the case than Rosenthal isn't even eligible.

If you want roster info - go to mshsl.org and you'll see which kids are on the varsity soccer roster. Prairie Seeds also played Shattuck this fall. Go to SSM's website to see their roster and record.

Eric Miller from Woodbury is the best AA palyer. He is a junior.

Anonymous said...

^uhhhh...who?

Anyways, why does Mr. Soccer have to come from Apple Valley? The team is extremely overrated, they should be kissing the ground they walk on

They barely snuck by against Eastview, Burnsville, OWATONNA?! I mean, come on!

Anonymous said...

3:58 - Miller is Region 2 and national ODP player. He is fun to watch. Very fast with the ball on dribble. Very talented player. And no I'm not from Woodbury. I've seen him play in summer and high school games.

Anonymous said...

Edi from westside and southwest is the top player in mn at the age.

Anonymous said...

voldemort

Anonymous said...

rumor has it the hopkins coach was pushing for Kessler. They had 4 wins on the season.

Anonymous said...

Miller is the best but cant win Mr Soccer because he is a junior. AV may or may not be the best team, but when you go 18-0 and dominate the way they did they will get the Mr. Soccer. Jabari will win this award for sure because he is the player that was the top rated in the Lake on AV. The coaches tomorrow will give it to the AV player, if Scanlon would have pushed Rosenthal then he would have won. Its a done deal and will be decided tomorrow and then announced next Sunday at the banquet. Lets talk about section matches up because this is done.

Anoka score from today?

Anonymous said...

I don't think it should be limited to seniors it should just go to best player.

Anonymous said...

well there goes Prairie Seed Academy...lost 2-1 to Fridley.

Anonymous said...

anoka lost 2-1 to duluth east

Anonymous said...

Miller is not best AA player, not even best junior in the state, Obarski from AV is better

Anonymous said...

Miller is way better then Obarski. Sorry but its a no brainer. Miller plays in with the Natl team for his age. Obarski is not even close to that level.

Anoka first big time team to go down. Who is next? I will say MPLS SW. They will lose to Wayzata.

Anonymous said...

When and where did Miller play for the National team?

Anonymous said...

8:19....Don't know where you got your info from but Miller is NOT listed on ANY National team roster...not at U15, U17 or U18. Maybe just for Region 2 team?

Anonymous said...

Miller is def the best that will come out of MN for a while

Anonymous said...

"Whitney didn't win it last year because of hype ..... but he had been a top player in MYSA and ODP for years. I'd say he was a top 5 U17 player last summer." Mr. Soccer 16/10/09 10:02 AM

You have just shown how much you really don't know. First, I would have said that he could not even break into the top 11 players at the U18 age group that were the majority of the senior he played against. As far as the top 5 in the U17 age group I would say that is over statement of the facts as well. Sucess in MYSA league, LOL I guess if you think finishing last in league in 08 is sucess I have some prime land in Florida that I would like to sell you.

He scored goals, his coach promoted him heavily, this blog carried on and on about the kid. I do think it also was something the coaches did to make up for not awarding his older brother Mr. Soccer, who probably did deserve it.

Anonymous said...

So hold on, you think that Whitney Browne did not deserve to win Mr. Soccer?

Anonymous said...

People should not knock players here by name, not right.
Think about what you are doing, would you like it if your kid was being ripped by a stranger just because hes good at soccer.
Tom O is a very good player, Whitney B is a very good player, Eric M is a very good player.

Anonymous said...

Then stop promoting them by name as well....certainly opens the door for both sides....for and against. gets old.

Mister Soccer said...

You idiots are jealous.

I only promote by name. I don't hate by name. These are high school kids. There even is an unwritten rule not to hate on college athletes. It does not open the door to hate by name.

10:16, I disagree. We'll have to agree to disagree, but I'll take a MN team from the last 2 years with WB on it and it will be better than your team. He would for sure be in my top 11.

Please use a blog name so things are more clear.

burnsville vs valley tomorrow

predictions on that?

im thinking burnsville 2-1 or 2-2 OT. Valley beat burnsville 1-0 conference play. It was a very good game.

Edina vs. Jefferson; Edina 3-1.

I think edina will sweep this away, but again another very good game.

what do you guys think?

Anonymous said...

Burnsville deserves some respect

Anonymous said...

Jefferson will beat Edina 2-0
EP will beat Prior Lake 2-0

Wayzata will be S W 1-0
South will be Armstrong 2-1

AV will beat Burnsville 3-0
Eagan will beat Park 2-1

nailed that 1001 post!

Anonymous said...

Aooka lost due to head coach's inability in coaching the team.
They should replace him.

Anonymous said...

av will go against woodbury for the state crown.. srry ep.. u suck..

Anonymous said...

I cant finish easy goals so I blame the coach-what a joke

Coach said...

Actually, the Anoka coach is a nut.

Me XMan said...

Anoka 1-2 Duluth East

That's a big shocker for me. Anoka has been doing well and especially at defense department. Two goals are the max they've given in a game this year versus scoring 6:1 ratio (48 for and 8 against). Champion of the tough NWS conference with record of 8-0-1.

I don't want to take credits away from Duluth East, they've done a great job in stopping the Tornadoes attacking and blasted in two goals for the win is a great accomplishment. Congrats.

BTW, I wasn't at this game. What happened?

Anonymous said...

No matter how much better you think one team is then the other team the score will be close. Its the playoffs and teams fight harder then every to stay alive. Now that the really really poor teams are out you will see maybe one game by more then a goal.

XMan Games to Watch - Monday 10/19

Minneapolis South vs. Robbinsdale Armstrong - 7PM at Armstrong
The last time they met, the Tigers came out ahead 1-0.
The Falcons have many good players and will they show up to play tonight.
This will be a good game to watch with all the chips on the table this time.
I have Falcons 3-1 Tigers.

Centennial vs. Champlin Park - 7PM at Centennial
The last time they met, the Cougars came out ahead 1-0.
Both have speedy attackers. The Cougars defense is more solid.
I have Cougars 2-1 Rebels.

Maple Grove vs. Osseo - 7PM at Osseo
The last time they met, the Crimson took the game 1-0.
Was it a fluke or the Crimson know how to win in Section.
I have Orioles 3-0 Crimson.

Stillwater Area vs. White Bear Lake - 5M at White Bear Lake
It was a tie when they met last. Both have strong defense.
This probably will come down to spot kicks.
I have Stillwater 2-1 Bears.

Eagan vs. Park of Cottage Grove 7PM at Eagan
The Wildcats have a strong record in tough Lake conference.
Finishing 2nd behind the almighty Apple Valley.
The Wolfpack will have their hands full tonight.
I have Wildcats 3-0 Wolfpack.

Mr. Soccer
I have used a blog name and have even signed my own name not some fake name. Only to have someone post stuff with my name on it. So, I think the name thing is kind of pointless.

To be clear, you would take the '08 Wings U16 team that won one game and scored a whopping 11 goals in league, and the 09 MTA Super Star team that finished third in its POOL at state cup over the ANY of the players on the 09 U18 team that won State Cup for the last 5 years. The facts do not support ANY of your statments. It not jealously it is pointing out the inconsistancy of your statements.

As far as mentioning players by name, I would agree, note in my post his name was mention by you, not me. Your post is full of untruths and when called on it you whine about slaming the kid. I don't know him personnelly, he maybe a really nice person. But the point of the orginal post wasn't even aimed at him. It was how players get considered to be Mr. Soccer. I get the feeling that you may have had something to do with the Mr. Soccer hype last year and feel a need to defend your shaky position.

Section 3AA, Section 4AA, Section 5AA, and Section 6AA all playing semis tonight. Please post scores ASAP. Should be some fun and competitive
