The better team at the end of a match is the one who records the victory. Period. They won. They were better at scoring and defending for those 90 minutes.

And maybe they were better because they had more depth than the team with the injured player(s).

9:18, really? Tell me your darling daughters team either in club or high school has not left the field with a loss, where had a bounce or two gone differnetly you would have won beacuse they controlled the play! The team that puts the ball in the net more times is the winner that day. Period! In some matches the better team doesnt always win...thats a fact and happens in every sport at every level.(had they played five times who is better). ALL TEAMS will experience this on both sides...thats why the game is played on the field and not on paper.

Anonymous said...

...and thats why the coaches poll is probably more accurate than a computer!

Anonymous said...

Wondering if Bold has any insight on the Boys Side too. Would appreciate seeing this kind of dialog in the Boys forum instead of the garbage some insist to continue there.

Anonymous said...

hey 9:18, how come wayzata is #1 and not LKVN or Mah...they have a tie?

Anonymous said...

Lakeville North is overrated. Mahtomedi has better players top to bottom and is deeper and Mahtomedi has the more dangerous forward.

Anonymous said...

yawn yawn! Thank goodness club starts in about 6 weeks! Back to some real soccer!

Anonymous said...

Doesn't look like you are going to find a LVN parent to take your bait 10:59. Good try though!

Any boy's insight Bold?

top games today

burnsville v eastview
minnetonka v edina
mounds view v white bear

what say you?

Anonymous said...

Agree, good matchups. Quality teams slowly preparing for sections. Good luck to all 6!

Anonymous said...

LKVN is not overrated...they might end the sesaon with only one loss or tie in one of the toughest conferences. Hopefully they meet MAH in state, that is if they both make it :)

u pick em...gonna go out on a limb and say two of those three end in a tie, just not sure which two?

Anonymous said...

Wayzata v Hopkins?? Anyone know the score?

Anonymous said...

I don't see Mahto getting past Woodbury, so they will have to compete with bville, Edina, and/or ep for the best team left out of State.

Anonymous said...

Eagan and Jefferson?

Eastview and Burnsville?

Anonymous said...

Eagan 5-0
Eastview 2-0

Anonymous said...

Burnsville showed their stripes. They will end up the year with 5-6 losses and probably won't challenge in Sectionals

Anonymous said...

Wayzata 3-0 over Hopkins

Anonymous said...

not much to discuss after tuesday...most of the ranked teams won and no real upsets. Thurs should be interesting.

Anonymous said...

My predictions for tomorrow:

Mahtomedi vs. Henry Sibley - easiest match for a top ranked team. Mahtomedi by at least 4.

Eagan vs. Burnsville - Eagan should come out ahead, but the key is quickly shaking the offense. Eagan by 2.

Eastview vs. Lakeville North - Should be the first real challenge for LVN. This should be a close, physical match with LVN on top by one.

Eden Prairie vs. Wayzata - these two powerhouses tied earlier in the year, but I think Wayzata has the advantage, and will take it by two.

WBL vs. East Ridge - should be another good match. East Ridge by one.

Stillwater vs. Woodbury - Despite player talent, coaching for Stillwater will be a factor. Woodbury by 2.

Centennial vs. Andover - should be an easy win for Centennial, despite numerous injuries this year. Centennial by 2.

Edina vs. Hopkins - Another close match. I predict a low scoring game - tie or Edina by one.

Anonymous said...

I will give some props to WBL - over East Ridge 2-1

LVN over Eastview 3-1

Tony has Wayzata rolling, but only over EP 1-0

Woodbury over Stillwater 3-0, way more talent on Woodbury

Eagan playing it close to the vest, over Burnsville 1-0

EP over Way
EV over LVN
Burns over Eagan

Bold,Insightful,Thought Provoking AA Analysis said...

Sorting the QRF top 10 by relative AA strength of schedule (SoS) paints an interesting picture of where things are at.
Here's how last Monday's QRF top 10 teams rate by the average QRF of their AA opponents through last weekend that they have won or tied (avg opponent's QRF is the number to the right)
#10 East Ridge 27
#6 Eden Prairie 28
#3 Eagan 28
#5 Woodbury 28
#1 Lakeville North 32
#8 Minnetonka 32
#7 Burnsville 33
#4 Wayzata 36
#2 Mahtomedi 37
#9 Osseo 40

Statistically not a large sample of games yet and East Ridge has played the fewest number of AA games, but it does reinforce what some have been saying about the strength of schedule of our top ranked teams in the current poll. I suspect this sorting will indicate the trend for the next couple of weeks as everyone’s schedule tightens.

For anyone who is interested, here is the sorting by just strength of schedule to date (results not factored in)
#10 East Ridge 21
#5 Woodbury 23
#6 Eden Prarie 25
#3 Eagan 27
#8 Minnetonka 29
#7 Burnsville 29
#1 Lakeville North 32
#4 Wayzata 33
#9 Osseo 35
#2 Mahtomedi 37

Anonymous said...

Bold...you lost me. Baseball is a game of statistics, not soccer!

So based on your theory, East Ridge is #1 and Woodbury is #2???

Doesn't MTA have alot of players at those two schools...better cover up, your true colors are showing.

Anonymous said...

it is all a club conspiracy- gimme a break.

thanks for sharing Bold.

Bold,Insightful,Thought Provoking AA Analysis said...

Sorry to confuse 11:12, my post was intended to show a strength of schedule, not ranking. The numbers show the average QRF ranking for all of the AA teams that each of the top 10 QRF teams have beat or tied. The lower the number shows they have played better teams so far and therefore a tougher schedule to date.

Just a bunch of numbers to draw your own conclusions from, but to me it shows the top three ranked teams in this week’s poll (Wayzata, LVN and Mahtomedi) have played softer schedules to date than the other teams; doesn’t mean anything if they keep winning, but we will typically see some of these teams falling back once they are challenged in the back half of the year.

Also not intending to make any statements about player depth on any of these teams (or club affiliation), just trying to offer some context to bounce the current ranking off of.

Anonymous said...

Bold, you are losing credibility. Edina plays EP, Wayzata, Minnetonka 2x and Woodbury and Burnsvill and they are not on your list?

Anonymous said...

BOLD....

Most people get you analysis and your screen name even describes what your intent is. Please continue, I sense most like your analysis, don't mind the peanut gallery.

Bold,Insightful,Thought Provoking AA Analysis said...

Thanks for the support 1:20, and also thanks to 1:17 for challenging my thoughts - exactly what I am hoping to do is spur some meaningful conversation.

1:17, to clarify I only included schedule to date (actually through last Sat as the current QRF through then). The teams you mention will definitely climb in SoS rating given their tough year end schedule.

MA said...

Bold, I too appreciate the analysis. I didn't even know what the QRF was until your posts. Interesting stuff.

From someone working in the Sub East Conf, I can tell you that Woodbury is the best team we've played thus far. We'll see WBL tonight and won't get a chance to see MAH (not in our conf but in our section) until we scout them, so my perception may change before all is said and done.

If the game is played on paper, which we all know it's not, it would come down to a Woodbury vs MAH section final in 4AA. But I think there are at least 3 teams in the section that these two would be nervous about playing come section time, and I'm excited to see how things shake out in October.

Please keep up with the insights!

Bold,Insightful,Thought Provoking AA Analysis said...

Sorry 1:17 re-read and now understand, Edina wasn't on my list because I did it off of the top 10 QRF; the fact that Edina is #18 in the current QRF definitely shows a flaw in the QRF calc, that I'd be very interested in hearing the reason for this if anyone can explain.

Bold,Insightful,Thought Provoking AA Analysis said...

1:17 you piqued my curiosity so I ran my SoS calc on Edina through last Sat, came up with a 29 avg for Win/Tie, 24 avg for overall schedule, so had I included they’d be in the top five on my list for both.

Sorry I am hung up on the whole QRF thing today, but for the first time I noticed that it looks like each section will have the choice of seeding sections either the old fashioned way or by alternatively using the final regular season QRF. With many of the anomalies we are all pointing out, I think any section would be nuts to use it, especially for the perennial “sections of death”.

I’d be curious to hear from MA and others if this is accurate and if any sections are seriously considering using the QRF for seeding.

MA said...

Bold, from what I received in prep for the 4AA section meeting, coaches will rank the teams in the section and that will lead to the overall seeding - as we've done in previous years. I've seen nothing that explicitly states referring to the QRF, but there is a statement that coaches should base their rankings on conf record, over-all record, common opponents, head to head competition, AND relative strength of schedule.

So to answer your question, 4AA doesn't seem to be seriously considering using the QRF.

The buzz around MYSA is that they will introduce a new rule that prohibits club coaches from coaching their club players during the high school season. Unbelievable.

Anonymous said...

8:04am. That's not breaking news. It's not new rule or a rumor! That rule has been around for years. It's not MYSA's rules, it's the Minnesota High School League rules.
For as long as I can remember, club coaches have never been allowed to coach their club players during high school season.

8:03: Not MTA parent, but MTA midfielder's assist to MTA forward led to 1-0 ER win over WBL last night. Good luck next year.

Mahtomedi v. Woodbury

LVN Stats: How does a player get the goal and assist for a 1-1 tie? Did she pass the ball to herself?

Anonymous said...

10:20am. Maybe? HS soccer is so bad and such a diversity in the level of play. Maybe she passed it down the field and than ran down intercepted her own ball and kicked in. Or maybe it hit the crossbar and she got her own rebound and put it in! Since it's HS soccer you never know how they count goals and assists!!!

Anonymous said...

No, she threw it in off the gk's fingers. Does anyone know the Hopkins-Edina score? Also, is Mahtomedi now the only team without a loss or tie?

Osseeo fell to Coon Rapids, and I heard they have some significant injuries. That's too bad for the girls and their families.

Anonymous said...

1020 No idea how it can happen but it's more disturbing that you are worried about it

Anonymous said...

In the MSHSL there is one assist awarded per goal. If there is more, the coaches are cheating and padding stats.

Anonymous said...

10:33 You must be the one entering the stats. If you made a mistake, go into the MSHSL website and change it. Otherwise, its called cheating and that's why I'm "worried about it".

Anonymous said...

As I understand it, a player can also be awarded an assist and a goal if they are fouled (assist), take their own pk and score (goal).

Different bodies have different criteria however. NCAA does not allow goal and assist by the same player. Not sure about MSHL but I am certain that 10:20 is investigating and will be sending all the necessary emails to make sure the scoring is accounted for properly. :)

Anonymous said...

Interesting.......1032 reports some players were injured in last night games (Osseo), we feel for them and their families, very tragic I agree. Then we have 1020??? should be ashamed.

Anonymous said...

Why should 1020 be ashamed? And no, I am not 1020.

Anonymous said...

It's shameful I'm checking this blog for soccer jabbering instead of digging into the pile of stuff on my desk. Friday!

Anonymous said...

I was serious when I said the player threw the ball and it bounced in off the GK's fingers. She SHOULD get a goal, an assist, AND a gold medal for that throw! How often does that happen?

Anonymous said...

Did this really happen?

Anonymous said...

No one should get an assist or a goal when the GK scored on herself. It's called an own goal folks.

Anonymous said...

yup

Anonymous said...

Not an own goal folks

"An offensive player whose pass is deflected into the goal by a defender or whose pass is mishandled by the goal- keeper and allowed to cross into the goal shall receive credit for a shot and a goal, provided the defender never gained full control of the ball. This applies equally to corner kicks and throw-ins."

Anonymous said...

I guess I wasn't clear: The MYSA is considering not letting club coaches who are high school coaches coach their club kids on their high school teams during high school season. Unbelievable.

Anonymous said...

It's already illegal according to the MSHSL so what is the difference?

Anonymous said...

You were clear. Which HS coach is a club coach for his/her own players?

Anonymous said...

1:57pm. Once again, it is already illegal. Club coaches cannot coach any of their players on a their high school team. It's not a MYSA rule, it's a MSHSL rule.

9/21 at 7:59 here...5 for 8 correct, missing the Eagan/Burnsville, Eastview/LVN and EP vs. Wayzata results, so I will try again for tomorrow's games...

In the "why bother" column,
Wayzata over Buffalo by 8
Eastview over St. Paul Academy and Summit by 10
Centennial over Spring Lake Park by 4

Others:
EP over Bloomington Jefferson by 3
East Ridge over North St. Paul by 3
LVN over Rochester Mayo by 2
Tonka over Roseville by 2

In the "this should be exciting" category,
Robbinsdale Armstrong 3-1 over Stillwater
And, the game to watch - Mahto over Woodbury by 2

Feel free to cast stones!!!

Anonymous said...

eastview and spa will be an eastview win but not as big as you think.

tonka and lvn both win by at least 4

I think you missed the pick on woodbury but have the margin correct

Anonymous said...

2:47 why hello Mahtomedi parent! No need to preview all other games when your true motive was to brag about beating Woodbury, good luck though...Royals are waiting!

Anonymous said...

Sorry, not a Mahto parent. My prediction was based on results this year, including my daughter's scrimmages against both teams. Woodbury has more talent, but the "x" factor is missing...lacking passion or team spirit? Senior fever? Not sure, but the Mahto offense is impressive, and needs to be stopped early and often.

Anonymous said...

What happened to Wayzata the other night?

Anonymous said...

Live in St. Croix Valley, have watched both teams. Mahtomedi is far more dangerous than Woodbury.

Anonymous said...

Goodness you people are dim-witted. The MYSA is considering NOT letting CLUB coaches who are HIGH SCHOOL coaches coach their CLUB kids on their HIGH SCHOOL teams during HIGH SCHOOL season. Unbelievable.

Anonymous said...

So, what difference does that make? It is just redundant and they are supporting the MSHSL rule. It changes nothing except then there is also pressure from the MYSA not to cheat.

Anonymous said...

Who's the dim-witted fool 11:32pm. So what if MYSA is considering NOT letting CLUB coaches who are HS coaches coach their club kid in HS. MSHSL already has the rule in place that as a CLUB COACH you CANNOT coach those kids on your in high school.
All MYSA is doing is restating the rule that has been in place for years. Maybe you are the one that needs to read up on your rules!

Anonymous said...

11:32pm DUDE! That's not a new rule! That's rule has been out there for a long time!

Anonymous said...

Not new 11:32pm! That has been around for years.
You must have a kid that is approaching high school for the first time? Either your child finds a new club (or club changes coach) or your child doesn't play high school. Either way that's been around for years.

Anonymous said...

11:32 - one more time, who do you think is doing that now??? Give us some examples.

Anonymous said...

Question about "The Rule" Does it mean that someone that coaches a kid in the Summer of 2011 on a club cannot coach that kid on their HS team in the Fall of 2011? Or if you coach the kid in HS in 2011 you cannot have that kid on your club team in 2012? or both?

Anonymous said...

did lvn really tie the game versus ev by having a player throw the ball off the goalies hands and into the goal? anyone at that game? how was the play?

Anonymous said...

Are you trying to say that a club coach will not be able to coach ANY kids from his/her CLUB at the high school level? eg SW could not coach hs and be involved in the club at Edina? This would shake stuff up!

Anonymous said...

It means a club coach that is also a high school coach can only coach players up to age 14 usually (unless they are very good and will make varsity in 7th or 8th grade). A player this past summer with the potential of making the varsity team should not be coached by the individual who is both their club and HS coach.

Anonymous said...

It was a great goal by LVN to tie the game. LVN dominated game had alot of chances, just could not finish that night.

Anonymous said...

I am not a MAH or Woodbury parent but am familiar with both teams and I cannot believe woodbury cannot crush them. Fill me in please!

Anonymous said...

WDB coach lets himself get intimidated. On paper WDB has 4+ D1 players, Mah none. My DD plays for WDB and we controlled the pace, unable to win w/wrong game plan.

Anonymous said...

Well if MAH is anything like their club team, go watch the MAH and the refs at half time. There's always some funny business going on with the refs and a MAH parent or two!

Anonymous said...

MAH MB is going to the U of M next year - last I checked, they were D1.

Anonymous said...

What WDB lacks is a true goal scorer. While they have D1 players in the mid and on defense they lack a D1 forward who can finish for them.

Anonymous said...

the ssc is the toughest in the state this year with 5 to 6 quality teams. who cares about mah or wdbry?

Anonymous said...

Eastview parent here....SPA v. Eastview was a fun game to watch. Eastview had a few more chance but SPA played really quite well (much better than most of the AA teams we have seen this year). SPA was a bit depleted by injuries from what I heard (from other Eastview parents)...a good game. Was surprised to see how good a Class A team was! Glad Eastview won.

Anonymous said...

any early predictions on the top ten rankings? Bold, where are you?

Anonymous said...

1:34 So true. Always so odd how the refs go talk to the MAH parents at half time. I saw last year at U17 and U14.

To the person who is focused on this proposed MYSA rule, the MSHSL rule is, at least 1 reason, why MA resigned from MTA team. 2 players on that team were likely going to make ERHS varsity. He can no longer coach them at both levels. I believe there was also discussion last year on boys thread about Prairie Seeds Academy coach having just coached some of his younger varsity players over summer.

Saw from a coach last night on FB that AA rankings would be:
1) Lakeville North (12 – 0 – 1)
2) Mahtomedi (13 – 0 – 0)
3) Eden Prairie (7 – 1 – 3)
4) Wayzata (10 – 1 – 1)
5) Burnsville (9 – 3 – 0)
6) Woodbury (9 – 3 – 0)
7) Eagan (10 – 2 – 0)
8) Eastview (8 – 2 – 2)
9) East Ridge (7 – 2 – 0)
10)Centennial (9 – 1 – 2)

woodbury should be lower or even out of the top ten with three losses. they are lviing off their name. how is eagan below them after they handily beat them? it seems coaches just put the same names in all the time

Bold,Insightful,Thought Provoking AA Analysis said...

Wild week last week in the AA, things should start to settle down some now on the poll going forward. I think we can safely call Mahtomedi our #1 for the regular season, well done Zephyrs, welcome to the AA (BUT, don’t forget that the regular season doesn’t mean anything once sections start!).

Not too many interesting matches this week, three teams I’ll be watching closely this week:
Lakeville North: Is in the hot seat this week. Was last week a little hiccup against their first ranked team or something more to it as their schedule finally tightens up? Tuesday’s game of the week against Eagan will tell us much, as will the following week against Burnsville and Jefferson. I’m going Eagan 1-0 on Tues (Eagan has still only let in 2 goals all year long and expect them to clamp down on LVN’s offensive power).

Edina: Simon needs to start getting some momentum going into their uber-tough 2AA section. Games against 2AA peers Burnsville on Thurs and EP on Sat will be previews of the 2AA semi’s/finals. EP and Burnsville both had confidence building wins last week. Going T-W for the Hornets this week.

Park: Watching to see if they can get some momentum built heading into the 3AA. WBL game on Tues should be close, and Hastings on gave Mounds View a surprise last week. Going to run with the Wolfpack for a W-W.

I thought we could also start to look forward to sections. Which sections do you think are the toughest and who is looking best in each? Which sections will get the all important seeding in the tourney? To help get the conversation rolling, I’ll try my first installment of “Bold’s AA Section Power Rankings”, rating the sections by toughness and top 3 teams within each.

Power #1: 2AA-EP, Burnsville, Edina. Preview of this 3-way brawl this week.
Power #2: 4AA-Mahtomedi, Woodbury, East Ridge. Revenge is a dish best served cold Royals.
Power #3: 3AA-Eagan, Eastview, Park
Power #4: 6AA-Wayzata, Minnetonka, Hopkins. See below for a BOLD prediction on this one.
Power #5: 1AA-LVN, LVS, Owatonna. Rematch! I smell upset.
Power #6: 5AA-Centennial, Mounds View, Maple Grove. Tough to rank within based on head-to-head matches (Cougars tied MV and dropped to MG), but seems like Centennial has things back in order.
Power #7: 8AA-Rogers, Buffalo, St. Michael.
Power #8: 7AA-Duluth East, Andover, Blaine

And my early picks for section winners and seeding:
#1 Seed: 2AA EP
#2 Seed: 3AA Eagan
#3 Seed: 4AA Woodbury
#4 Seed: 5AA Centennial
Random seed: 1AA Lakeville South
Random seed: 6AA Hopkins (This Hopkins team looks like they can force anyone into a draw when they want to, I’m going Hopkins to win in the 6AA semi’s and finals on PK’s.)
Random seed: 8AA Rogers
Random seed: 7AA Duluth East

Well, 20 seconds later I have to eat my own words -- just saw the poll for this week, still think Mahtomedi should be #1 this week and think they will still end up our final #1 if LVN's next two weeks go the way I am guessing.

Why would Centennial drop back this week? I do think they were slightly overranked for the past two weeks, but didn't do anything to justify dropping back.

Anonymous said...

the poll seems ok but I would think eastview should be higher. wins over burnsville plus a tie with the #1 team and only 2 losses in the toughest conference ... BOLD analysis, thanks for taking the time it makes this blog worth the visit

Thank you as well for your analysis Bold!

Will you pick LVN to beat Jefferson or Burnsville next week if they beat Eagan this week? You picked them to struggle against Prior Lake (a 4-0 win), lose to LVS (a 2-0 win), and lose to Eastview (a 1-1 tie that they had the better of the play). Picking them to lose in sections too?

Anonymous said...

Goodness you people are dim-witted. The MYSA is considering LETTING CLUB coaches who are HIGH SCHOOL coaches coach their CLUB kids on their HIGH SCHOOL teams during HIGH SCHOOL season. Unbelievable.

Anonymous said...

Sorry BOLD have to disagree with you on too many games in the next couple of weeks.

Anonymous said...

12:31
It isn't their decision. The MSHSL doesn't allow it.

Anonymous said...

How is it LKN has the same number of goals and assists (55). On a pk, does the girl who is fouled get the assist, and the one who scores gets the goal?

Anonymous said...

12:31pm. It doesn't matter what MYSA says. It's really a mute point because the governing body of Minnesota High School league doesn't allow club coaches to coach their players on their high school teams.
So MYSA can say whatever they want, but MNHSL isn't changing their rule!
From a dim-witted fool!

Anonymous said...

12:31pm Seriously dude? What don't you get. It doesn't matter what MYSA says. MYSA has no control over the Minnesota High School league. MHSL says that club coaches cannot coach their players on their high school team! What part of this are you not getting?

Anonymous said...

3:42 - where do you find those stats?

Anonymous said...

The Minnesota State High School League website. For some reason LVN doesn't use Minnesota Sports Online to enter their stats.

Anonymous said...

LVN doesn't call their games into the paper either

Okay - just looked at those stats...they are so wrong. The MN sports online look more accurate, so I guess neither site has correct data if all teams are not entering consistently. What a waste of time.

Class A

Numbers 2,3,7,8,9 all in the same section. As usual Section 3 is the section of death. Washburn also in that section would be a contender in some of the other sections.

SSP should probably be in the top ten and may see the dome with the Zephyrs up in AA (where they belong, although they are fun to watch substituting like a hockey team).

Blake is probably stronger than BSM.

Vis losing 6 - 0 to SPA and 5 - 1 to AHA should probably be off the list, although they historically punch above their weight.

4:44pm. Really, what colors do you see because you have to have a log in and password to see what you're talking about. You can read all the minutes on MSHSL and there's nothing. So go back and gather your facts and stop going on rumors. It won't happen!

8:54 interesting you named only MTA players, trying to figure out which psycho MTA mom you are.

Most national soccer blogs have figured out that it is not a good idea to name players under the age of 18 by either name or initials, too much nastiness in these forums.

Glad they had a good game though.

9:50am. 8:54am never mentioned that those girls were from MTA, but thank you for pointing that out for the rest of us.

lvn v eagan was a blood bath. game ends 0-0

Anonymous said...

wayzata is OVER RATED!!!!

Anonymous said...

LVN Eagan 0-0

Eagan had a handful of dangerous scoring chances from the run of play but put them over the goal. Eagan also had several more corners than LVN. Both teams defended set pieces well, including a top notch save by LVN keeper on a 25 yd free kick heading into the upper corner.
Both teams aggressive and solid defensively. Only downer was the center ref, who seemed to think she was working a U9 game (equally poor for both teams).

Anonymous said...

I meant 8:54pm.

Anonymous said...

The biggest downer was Eagans coach! Congradulating a player who took out a goalie, and injured her, after the play should be done coaching. I can understand now why girls will not play for him. Eagan played very dirty, not aggressive, and that type of play comes from the top.

Anonymous said...

What is "congradulating"?

Anonymous said...

5:34 - you are clueless beyond any comprehension. The play was not in the least bit dirty. What a moron - certain I heard you and your uninformed commentary last night.

Anonymous said...

Maybe it's one of those new words that you combine together - congratulations and graduating.

MTA parent here. Happy to see the girls in the BSM vs. SLP game played well, so proud to see players on my DDs club team making a difference in well played contests. Keep up the good work MTA girls, you represented well!

Anonymous said...

9:50pm...8:54pm was only saying positive things about players. I see no reason why if a youth player does well than their name should be mentioned. The newspaper mentions names. Is that wrong? Should we just say "the blonde girl from ABC school took the ball up field and scored off the red head from XYZ school!"
As long as it's positive, let's hear about it!

Anonymous said...

the play with lvn goalie and eagan attacker was a clean play, not dirty at all. collisions like that happen when two players go all out in a big game. if anyone was out of bounds last night it was lvn parents calling for their team to retaliate against eagan keeper, no room for that period.

Anonymous said...

Lets get back to this questionable play in the LVN Eagan game. Was it a cheap shot or just a collision? The later happens all the time, and sometimes one or both players are hurt...part of the game. If intentional, thats something different and should not be allowed (ie red card)...what happened?

Anonymous said...

ball played in. bang bang play where keeper and attacker collide going for the ball. lvn keeper left game with an apparent broken leg

Anonymous said...

LVN parent here. The player was booked with a yellow card, one of three given to Eagan players (and one to their coach) during the game. "Dirty" is a strong word and not the one I would choose the describe the play during the game. Chippy maybe, with plenty of love taps after players got rid of the ball.

The yellow indicates that the ref (who consulted the AR on the play) thought it was "unsporting behavior." A red would indicate a "violent foul." The play was somewhere in the middle and the center and the AR settled on yellow which was probably the right call. IMO- all in all a good game, and not near the "blood bath" or the rabid fan free for all that is being represented by some here.

Benilde in a tie and Blake struggling to score (1-0 vs. Breck and 1-0 vs. Providence)....is Class A wide open this year?

Anonymous said...

Other game reports? A couple of upsets in the Lake Conference. Anyone attend these games?

Tonka and Wayzata

Eden Prairie and Hopkins

Anonymous said...

They weren't really upsets.

Anonymous said...

LVN was also given 2 yellow cards during the game. It was a physical, hard fought game between two of the top teams in the state. It is unfortunate that someone was injured seriously, but it was in no way a dirty play, and the game in general was played hard and physical, but not dirty, by both teams

You girls parents are nuts. I love it.

All these years I thought it was MTA and Rev parents who were the crazies on this blog.

both big games for section seeding. if edina and wdbry lose they will have a tough time getting a one or two seed

Anonymous said...

burnsville will get upset, that has been their story this year - 2-1 edina

Anonymous said...

Sectional play is going to be exciting this year. As BOLD shared earlier, there are 3-4 teams in just about every section that could make a legitimate run for a state tourney birth.

9/29/11 8:28 AM - LOL! Good one, and I am a MTA parent!

Anonymous said...

Edina 3 Burnsville 2

WBL 3 Woodbury 0

8:28 please do tell which club you're from. i dont beleive there is a club, or a sport, which does not have a few crazy parents out there. mta and rev, are easy targets because of the number of teams they have.

Anonymous said...

Seriously people! Have you seen hockey parents for both boys and girls teams? That is one big basket of craziness!
Every sport has their nuts, but I kind of like it that way for the entertainment value!

Anonymous said...

some clubs attract it, some don't.

Every club has a group of crazy parents! You can't deny that!

back to predictions:

What is crazy, is this group of parents that are predicting the outcome of games!

Anonymous said...

What is crazy, is someone taking the time to comment on what they think is crazy. Oh, wait, that would include me.

We're all nuts! But we love it!

Gosh, I'M not nuts.

This year?? You should have said nearly every year and in nearly every sport.

Anonymous said...

9/30/11 11:31 AM - LOL! Too funny!

That is quite the reputation and legacy for a conference that has only been in existence for 2 years!

Looks like they deserve props in girls soccer this year- but alot of games yet to be played with sections and state ahead. Time will tell.

11:31am. This year and every sport? Let me see, Wayzata, Eden Prairie, Hopkins, etc aren't in the south!

Guess at the poll this week - no new entries, just a shuffle

Mahtomedi
LVN
Burnsville
Woodbury
Eagan
Eastview
Centennial
Eden Prairie
Wayzata
East Ridge

SSC this week - LVN wraps up the conference with a win over Burnsville. Eastview finishes second by steamrolling Rosemount. Eagan grabs third by beating Apple Valley in a game with two of the states top keepers.

Conference Predictions:

Classic Suburban:
Mahto (9/1/0) vs. HM (8/1/0). Last time they met, Mahto won 5-3, but HM had the most goals against Mahto all season. Predict Mahto to clinch it.

Lake: 5 strong teams.
Wayzata 3/2/1 will face Edina and Hopkins, and beat both earlier. EP ties Edina today, with a 2/1/4 record. Wayzata to clinch.

North Suburban:
BSM 7/0/1 faces Spring Lake Park and Chisago - should win both.
St. Louis Park 6/0/1 has 3 remaining conference games, including Totino Grace. BSM clinches.

NW Suburban: Most wide open.
Centennial 6/1/1 faces Blaine and Elk River this week, after a Monday non-conference match against Hopkins. Blaine and Elk River are 4 and 5 in conference.
Maple Grove 6/2/1 faces only Coon Rapids. Should be close, predict a Centennial win against Elk River on Tuesday to clinch.

South Suburban:
LN 5/0/2 faces Burnsville and Bloomington Jefferson
Burnsville 5/2/0 faces LN and Apple Valley. LN will clinch conference.

Suburban East:
Woodbury 7/0/0
East Ridge 5/2/0
Woodbury will has it.

Anonymous said...

3:24 I am not sure who's coming out but Minnetonka beat Wayzata and has 3 straight wins they should move in to the top 10. EP loses to Hopkins and ties Edina

Anonymous said...

tonka should be considered and both wayzata and woodbury need to stop living off the name on their jersey.

Anonymous said...

Tonka remains behind EP and Wayzata in the Lake. No reason to displace anyone in the current top ten. They may be #11. They will have a chance to prove it in Section 6, and my prediction is a Tonka win over Wayzata in the final. Slight upset.

That is quite the reputation and legacy for a conference that has only been in existence for 2 years!

The bulk of the teams were previously in the real Lake Conference and before that in other incarnations. The dominant history is indisputable.
