Jefferson must self-annointed DS to be one since he didn't get it from MN Coaches...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anonymous said...

Now that HS season is over where are all the local '09 men and women headed for next year?

Anonymous said...

Jefferson is more of a JOKE now than ever. I hope they can come to their senses and be normal like everyone else. Their team ain't as good as they thing. Got dominated and beat by St. Louis Park. If they would have played Osseo, that would be a painful game to watch.

Anonymous said...

Didn't Jefferson-SLP game go to PKs?
I wouldn't call that dominated...LOL.

Anonymous said...

SLP a team with shorter guys totally dominated 2nd half and in OTs. All Jefferson could do was to play in their back third.

HAHAHAHA!!! Jefferson self-annointed DS to be MN Coach of the Year. HAHAHAHAHHAA!!

WHAT A FRICKING JOKE!!!

Anonymous said...

I am sure DS will make it right as soon as he finds it. relax guys! could this be a cruel joke by their webmaster?

Shattuck has the best teams in Minnesota. Glad to see they will play state cup now (boys side). Enjoy.

Anonymous said...

Shattuck has no competition whatsoever at State Cup. Teams just hand them the trophy and spare your entry fee.

Somehow I think it's not funny for self-annointed king...

Osseo 4-1 over St. Louis Park has 3 records in State Tournament:

1. Most points scored in Championship game (4 goals).
2. Largest difference in Championship game (3 goals).
3. Most points scored in State Tournament (11 points).

Who said Osseo sucks should get their heads examined.

From MYSA executive committee minutes from Nov 1 meeting:http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/about/minutes/bodnov08.pdf

" Sherrill moved, Igbavboa seconded, to approve Shattuck-St. Mary’s as an Affiliate Member of
MYSA. The motion passed. Olson abstained. "

"Sherrill moved, Olson seconded, to place Shattuck-St. Mary’s in the South District. The motion
passed. "

Interesting as Olson has son who plays at Shattuck.

Anonymous said...

that's why he abstained from the first vote moron... the vote to place it in the south district is completely insignificant.

It's an interesting decision by MYSA, but you better come with a better case than "Olson has a kid who plays for Shattuck" if you're charging ethical misbehavior.

Anonymous said...

I probably should have pasted them as one quote, the second one is insignificant. No need to start the name calling though. By the way, Olson is a woman. This is par for the course as Merrill also has used his influence in the past, ie" get a team premier status.

I posted this because there has been much discussion in the past about a recruiting school being able to be in a MN league.

I can't imagine anybody on this inbred blog calling somebody else a moron. You have to be bottom feeders.

Shattuck played state cup this past summer. Boys and Girls. The girls lost to Bangu, the boys won the final 2-0.

I will bet a weeks pay that MTA will win state cup at U18s on the boys and girls side. Shattuck's boys team is way down this year. Their younger team may have a shot at U16 as the age group is very watered down. I would not be suprised to see Shattuck enter their U18s team at U19 so they have a real chance at Regionals.

I do believe that Shattuck participating in MRL and State Cup is a very good thing though. They will continue to push the bar higher for teams/players who want to compete at the highest level avaialble. Unfortunately, they will still have to compete with MTA and the occasional dominate CC team (e.g. Woodbury 17 Girls.)

You people are idiots. DS was selected coach of the year for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Two coach of the year awards. One by the Minnsesota High School Soccer Coaches Association and one by the NSCAA. The NSCAA award you have to be a member. The MSHSSCA you have to be a member. The NSCAA is voted on by the NSCAA members and typically both awards go to the same person, but it did not this year. Jefferson did not give him any award, those of you who said that just showed your level of intelligence. Grow up.

Anonymous said...

Chad Gilmer Jefferson won the only All American award for MN from the NSCAA too. Much bigger award than Mr Soccer.

Anonymous said...

9:57 Do you know when the winners for the NSCAA/adidad Regional Coach of the Year will be announced? Their website only says that the coaches have been notified if selected.

Anonymous said...

IDIOT!!!

"Anonymous said...
It just goes to show you how many people have no idea what is going on. Once again hammering DS for doing nothing wrong. He won the award and the NSCAA one is actually the better one to win because the coach moves on to the midwest and national level. Jefferson beating Coon Rapids in the 3rd place game proabably cost JJ from winning both and the poor sportsmanship by CR in the 3rd place game. Make sure you know what you are talking about before you put people under the bus. DS is a class act and that is why he won another award from his peers. I wish he would get on an respond but I bet he does nt read this site because of the idiots who post on the site.

Anonymous said...

Couldn't care less what awards DS gets, but 9:57 is correct in his/her argument. NCSAA awards won't be announced until the awards banquet at the national convention in January. No one knows who won that one yet. The awards committee meets at 2:30 on Thursday, Jan 15th and the awards breakfast is at 8am on Friday the 16th. Straight from the pre-convention Soccer Journal issue.

Anonymous said...

To answer your question I was one of many coaches who voted for DS for the NSCAA award. The MN vote is final and yes he did win, the Midwest COY has not been voted on but DS did win before. Those of you who take shots at people and don't know what you are talking about are really SAD. So leave DS alone he did not do anything wrong! Its to bad the people that shoot their mouth off all the time about kids and coaches can't say they are sorry for being stupid.

Anonymous said...

In Class A State Tourney has any Public School ever won?

Anonymous said...

i can't tell if your serious or not 842, but mahtomedi has won a few

Anonymous said...

Orono also.

Anonymous said...

8:42 is the winner of this week's "brilliant question" award.

Orono was good enough to compete again this year, just got picked off by BSM in the sectional final. How good will they be next year?

My early early top 5 for class A next year:
1) Mahtomedi (until someone beats them)
2) AHA (until BSM proves they can beat them)
3) BSM - which will return basically the same team for the third year in a row
4) SPA - this team of youngsters is finally growing up
5) Blake? Orono?

As usual section 3A will be a bloodbath.

Anonymous said...

So how many years ago did Mahtomedi win State Boys Class A? Also Orono what year?? Brillant questions deserve answers.

Anonymous said...

Corner Kick's issue was not a lock of business but an ill-concieved expansion plan coupled with poor management.

Typical HS coaches politics. Coaches have their favorites. Kiss up parents have a lot to do with it.Happens all the time.

Anonymous said...

No coach will be pissed off at a player just for the sake of being pissed off. Every coach wants their players to succeed and AR is no exception. Players should always play and respect the system and never assume anything. If all goes well, players get recognized by everyone not just one person. So it is up to player to perform exceptionally well and the kudos will follow.

Anonymous said...

1:41

First off you're not in a position to speak for all coaches. You might want to change your comment to "I will not be pissed of at a player for no apparent reason blah blah blah".

Second ..I know first hand of two situations that it did happen but I won't name the coaches or the players.

Third..this isn't a perfect world.Shit happens.

Anonymous said...

Sorry H.S. Coaches, I think you would be surprise on how little respect most of the players have for you. Most of the better players know HS soccer is @*%!.

But to be fair I think AR is in a league complete of his own. From what it sounds like I think this and other questionable decisions and behavior by coaches this year have hurt hs soccer state wide. It time that the coaches start making decesions based on what going on out on the field and not what is on a piece of paper, blog or what going on with a parent.

Anonymous said...

AR couldn't coach himself out of paper bag. BUT Park Center finished ahead of Maple Grove and that's good for AR. He likes it.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE. AS WE ARE SO DEEP IN BASHING PLAYERS, COACHES, ADMINISTRATORS, AND PARENTS, I THINK WE HAVE A LOT TO BE THANKFUL FOR AS SOCCER ENTHUSIASTS. Thanks to the players who never give up. Thanks to the parents who car pool the kids, pay the bills, and support the kids even when they go winless. Thanks to those who volunteer as administrators, garbage carriers, and others who do the thankless jobs. Thanks to the coaches who are there for the kids despite all the hard times.

Thanks to God for giving us the great sport of soccer to enjoy! Lets all take a break and be thankful for the joy of being "football" people.

Any word on where the CLC schools are headed? According to Strib the Lake and Sub East do not want to add any schools and sent only one rep to yesterdays meeting while other conferences sent 3.

Anonymous said...

expect CLC teams to petition to join the Lake and one other conference. those conferences then have i believe 3 months to accept or deny the request. I don't see either one saying yes...especially the lake as many of these same schools left the lake to form the classic lake. Once the denials come in, the MSHSL will then place the schools.

Anonymous said...

Can the MSHSL place them in the Lake Conference even thou the conference denied them?

I'm not familiar with what has gone on in the past. So, why did these school leave the Lake Conference anyway? And why is does it seem like their are bad feelings between the two?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

My understanding of the steps are as follows:

1) the schools apply/request on a more informal basis to become part of a conference(s).
2) if they get shot down, then MSHSL steps in and assigns them to a conference(s).

Obviously MSHSL is encouraging all the potential conferences and the schools in question to sit down and try to work something out (see step 1) as they would really not have to force the issue (step 2). Not sure who ends up winning if MSHSL has to step in.

They had to do it before with CDH a few years back, but one school is easy versus 5 schools. There is also some baggage along the way between the Lake and Classic Lake. In a perfect world it would make a lot of sense to just blow up the Lake, Classic Lake, Missota, and even a bit of the NW Suburban and reconfigure everything based on enrollment, growth trends, and geography.

Anonymous said...

I'm shocked there is no "greater twin cities catholic conference." If you look at virtually every other major metro in the country the top catholic schools compete against one another in a single conference.

weird.

Anonymous said...

There was at one time.

Anonymous said...

wouldn't CDH playing Holy Family in football be fun to watch??

Anonymous said...

As much fun as watching them play Roseville.

Anonymous said...

seems to me in soccer at least (this is a soccer blog) it sure would make for a good conference, the traditional Catholic powers, BSM, Totino Grace, AHA, are all class A schools right? you could add a few outstates in either direction, like Lourdes, Cathedral... I dunno, seems like a good idea to me.

CDH would be the only blatant mismatch for football wouldn't they??

The poster above is right, most other states, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, have Catholic conferences.

Anonymous said...

I doubt if any involved in the decision made to leave years ago are still with CLC schools.
What was done then is history. Just do the right thing for the schools and for the kids.

East Ridge High School announces the hiring of three head coaches.

Mark Abboud has accepted the position of head girl's soccer coach. Mark played on the inaugural high school team at Rochester Mayo, so he knows
what it means to be on a "first" team. He went on to play collegiate soccer at Macalester College and he played professionally for a number of teams, including the Minnesota Thunder. Mark has continued his relationship with the Minnesota Thunder as the Technical Director of the Thunder youth academy. Mark has a superior knowledge of the game of soccer and the passion to develop a new program from the ground up.

Phil Walczak has accepted the position of head boy's soccer coach. Phil was the assistant soccer coach at Lakeville North. He is also the Director of Development for Coerver Coaching in Edina and Minnesota Thunder South Academy Director. Phil brings with him a strong background
as a soccer trainer. This skill set will be beneficial as East Ridge will be young in 2009-2010 (no seniors) and Phil will be working with all of his players for a minimum of two years before anyone graduates. Phil will work hard to build a program that will represent the school and community well.

Anonymous said...

There's SSM and MTA and wannabes. The wannabes can say what they want as often as they want but in the morning they are still wannabes.

Anonymous said...

yes i am sure that there are a lot of wannabes in the U-17 age group, MTA hasnt been one of the top 4 teams in that age group in the last 3 years, and dont give me the argument that they were the state cup runners up, anyone who knows anything about the age group knows that they 4 best teams all were in the same side of the bracket, and i might even go as far as to say westside is better as well, where does that leave MTA, 5 or 6 on the pecking order, no one is hating on MTA, these are just the facts they are not one of the better teams in this age group, yes it does happen to the almighty MTA sometimes as well

Anonymous said...

And US Soccer Development Academy will put an end to all the division at the older boys age groups in the coming years. We've seen the last of multiple "strong" teams at those age groups. And the best players in MN will benefit.

Anonymous said...

Everyone thinks that the Academy will be a god send to Minnesota soccer and that all the good players will gravitate towards MTA, this is not the case, MTA is a good program but not the cat's meow. Some of the best players and parents will not want to put up with all the travel and politics that this club has. There are better coaches out there. MTA does not have an exclusive on the best coaches and best players.
While it might help some it isn't the greatest show on earth.

Anonymous said...

I find it interesting to see the differences between age groups.
U18 or the 90/91 has produced some excellent teams. That has played a very possession style game. Sometimes it has been to the determent of individual players. The emphasis has always seemed to be on the team rather than the individuals.
U17 or the 91/92 has produced some excellent individuals that cannot seem to play a team possession game, but can play an individual possession game. Sometimes this also has been to the determent of the teams. The emphasis has always seemed to be on the individuals rather than the team.
U16 or the 92/93 I am hoping is where we finally get it right. It is a big transition year, will see who gets it and who does not. There are too many changes physically and mentally going on to make any kind of educated predictions.
Unlike others here on this blog, I do not think one age group is any more flush with talent than the next. However, I do find it interesting to see the difference of ‘personalities’ that each of the age groups have seemed to develop.

Anonymous said...

2:58 - politics? In MTA? Worse than in your typical non-MTA club? What planet are you on?

MTA isn't the cat's meow, USSDA is and that is why the top boys will come. If they want to compete against the best across the country they will come. If they want to compete in showcases that draw 50x more NCAA coaches than ODP events do, they will come. I'd bet my 401k on it.

Anonymous said...

or what's left of it....

Anonymous said...

If your 401K is typical of most lately than you betting your 401K is not a solid recommendation.

MTA has more politics than you think, having been associated with one of the groups for many years, I don't see where there is going to be any difference in their operations.
If the group dynamics change and they are really interested in serving the soccer youth then MTA can be successful, but I wouldn't bet anyones 401K.

Anonymous said...

I guess the biggest question is defining "serving the soccer youth". MTA makes no bones that they are targeting and catering to what they consider the elite or like minded player. This might comprise at best 5%-10% of the "soccer youth" in their minds. They are fine with that. What seems to frustrate many is that they are not what others want them to be. If the only way they can be "successful" is "in serving the soccer youth" and if "soccer youth" is all encompassing, than my guess is they will be happy in failing as long as they are succeeding by their standards/expectations/goals.

Anonymous said...

Point well taken 9:05.

Anonymous said...

Can we all be Honest and agree that MTA biggest objective is to make $$$ Yes they do try to cater to Elite players but I'm sorry the white teams are a long way from ELITE. The more money they bring in the more salaried staff they have. Everyone wants their cut!!

Anonymous said...

1:54 - I do not believe that making money is the number one objective. Is it important? of course it is a business. Having a child on the blue team and than on a white team (we have since decided to go elsewear) I think thier main objective is to get the "Thunber Academy" noame out there. The way they do that is to put the best top players together and jet around the country, IMO to the detriment of development. Particularly when we are talking about U14 and under.
We left on good terms and chose another option with a better coach and lower fees. I am still friendly with all the parents (most anyway).

Anonymous said...

MU Jedi is not as good as the wins at state cup might indicate. In fact, they are not as good as the MU Wildcats, who were considered the second MU team at 14's. The Wildcats play as a team. The Jedi are too small, and appear disfunctional (players and parents). Hopefully SCV will continue to challenge these teams in MYSA Premier league, but all these teams will struggle against an even stronger MTA U15 at State Cup (it sounds as though they are not going to play MYSA in favor of MRL Premier).

Sorry to post this in this area but I am not sure where to turn to.

Any suggestions on quality residential or non-residential camps for goalkeeper training would be greatly appreciated.

"Shows all the 2009 and some 2010 boys commitments to Division I schools."

So there are 5 kids that went to school in MN (not necessarily from MN) who have committed to D-1 schools, and they all are from Shattuck St. Marys? This site is very flawed and incomplete. Unfortunately, there isn't a good site for the boys side when it comes to college commitment. The girls side however, has a very good site.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=poknaL_RaORDOMcyz_riBDA&gid=1

The site is actually very good. If you read the top paragraph it notes that if anyone knows of further commitments they should email the given email.

Who else from Minnesota committed to D-1 schools?
