Aren't there any D1 women from the area!;)

Anonymous said...

Not really sure. Haven't ever checked.

There has not been much action on the posts related to womens/girls soccer. I wanted to see if anyone noticed that I did not create a post for women.

I can't name them all right now, but there are probably more women from MN playing D1 than men.

Thats fairly obvious and is a direct result of Title 9.
Don't infer that I oppose Title 9 just the reality of the matter.

Yeah craig mallace is a senior at UW milwaukee and one of their key players, he is probably the best of the minnesota D1 lot. I hear he might be entering the MLS draft.

Anonymous said...

there is no way he is the best of minnesota if he was he would have been a more of a player in the uwm vs. uw madison game

Joe Yonga's a nice player but take a look at Josh Okoampa's stats at UWGB.
He's an impact player and has been since freshman year and has 8 goals in his first 9 names this year.

Andrew Peterson has been a mainstay at Creighton since a freshman, An NSCAA All Region selection as a junior and one of the best left side defenders in the Midwest. Creighton has a history of producing talented MLS players and based on Creighton's ability to make the NCAA tournament could raise his profile prior to MLS draft.

Petey is an awesome player. My sons compete against him every summer in the MASL.
Definitely one of the best of the Minnesoootah boys currently in college.

Freshman from Brooklyn Park, Minn. earns national honor
MACOMB, Ill. — Brooklyn Park, Minn., native Martin Browne was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week of Sept. 24. Browne, a freshman at Western Illinois University, scored three straight game-winning goals against UMKC, Oakland University (Mich.) and Western Michigan.

He scored three goals against Western Michigan, Sept. 24, in a 4-0 win over the Broncos.

Browne also leads the Mid-Continent Conference in goals scored with eight. He has scored seven of the Leathernecks last 14 goals including two against Drake, Sept. 27, in a 5-0 win.

He was also named the Mid-Con Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 25.

Joshua Okampo makes College Soccer News team of the week. Check out http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/page0272.htm. Back to back weeks for Minnesotans to make the team. UW Green Bay having a great year with three key state players playing a major role. Joshua scoring, Dan O'Brien running the central midfield, and Josh Loyd in goal. Josh's brother Nick is the captain for Sacred Heart another Div 1 school in the Northeat Conference.

Martin Browne was one of the top seniors last year but played with another talented player in Michael Green at Osseo. He slipped under the radar of many Div 1 coaches and is now playing for his former Region II ODP coach. Expect to see Martin as the best player produced from the class of 2006 when all is done followed closely by Brandon Miller.

The Horizon League features two of the nation's top ten scorers, as University of Wisconsin-Green Bay senior Joshua Okoampa climbed to sixth place with an average of 2.36 points per game (26 points in 11 contests).

Ngange Akale is playing at Brown University in the Ivy League.

Johnson Thao has played in the last 4 games for UW-Parkside and has 4 assists and 4 goals.

UW Parkside is Division II. I thought this site was for D1 only. Thanks for the info though. Let's keep it to D1. Maybe we should create another site for DI and DII soccer.

Just figured D2 gives scholarships so why not include some of those guys.

I saw the Milwaukee and Green Bay match this past week. Both teams played quite well. Milwaukee had the better of the chances and deserved the win. Both teams seemed to be very well coached and their tactics were outstanding.

The bracket for Mens' D1 tournament has been announced:
MN has players at Brown, Rhode Island, Western Illinois, Notre Dame, Creighton, Washington, Santa Clara, and Providence. Feel bad for Green Bay, Madison, and Milwaukee despite their good performances, they did not get the call this year from the NCAA selection committee. Good job boys. Next year.

Congratulations to these MN boys for helping their team make it to the NCAA tournament: Ben Wexler at Providence, Andrew Peterson at Creighton, Aaron Club at Santa Clara, Jon Baumgardner at Notre Dame.

Wexler also had an impressive freshman year at Providence.

Joe Yonga (Totino Grace, Minn) was named for the second straight season to Honorable Mention Ivy League. He started in all 15 of Cornell's games.
Congratulations to all MN boys playing D1.

Are there anymore – let’s give these MN kids applause for keeping MN in the light.

Just had to say that of those D1 players, Joe Yonga, Aaron Club, Nkuti Ndely, Colin Baker, and me TJ Connolly, all played for Keliix Intra.

Rohrman steps down as Head Coach at Madison any thoughts on who will take his place?
