Glad to see some scores from last night. How was the WBL game?

eagan beat wyzata last night 2-1. could have easily been 2-0. wyzata scored with less than 5 minutes in the game. hows that for ep and south dominating the lake??

EP WILL dominate the Lake. South, Eagan, AV, maybe some others will battle for second.

The Eagan-Wayzata game could have also easily have been 3-2 in Wayzata's favor. The first half was all Eagan and the second half was all Wayzata with Wayzata missing on two breakaways. Eagan is for real, though, with excellent team speed and much better finishing than Wayzata.

Eagan: 6-0-0 46 goals scored and only 1 let in.... yet OBVIOUSLY EP is going to dominate the Lake

41 of the goals against Crookston, Farmington, East Grand Forks and Bemidji???
We'll see if Eagan is for real when they play EP on 9/7 and Lakeville South.
We can see they have a coach who loves to run up the scores on overmatched teams...shades of Mpls South boys coach. lack of class.
Why bother playing those schools anyway?

That is not lack of class its just the the game, if your not good you will get scored on a lot. I am sure that a lot of those goals scored by Eagan came from girls that wont have that oppurtunity the rest of the year. If you were a player on the loseing team would it make you feel better knowing the other team was not trying to score.

I would agree with the above post if 3 of the Eagan girls hadn't scored almost 75% (34 of 46) of the goals to date.

angela olson for ms soccer
shes the real deal

Last year those who voted on Mr Soccer failed to reward the boys from Mpls South for scoring scads of goals in their 15-0 victories.
Instead they awarded Mr Soccer to the athlete they thought was the best player.
I strongly suspect the same will occur this year and that goals scored when the game is already 4-0 will have little influence on those selecting Ms & Mr Soccer.

Does Eagan HS have it's own PR department?
It's a little like colleges pushing athetes for the Heisman trophy with someone promoting the boy from Eagan and now pushing the girl from Eagan.
Seems a little over the top.

South's big goal scorers were juniors last year, which is why I suspect they were given no consideration for Mr. Soccer. Several of their juniors who scored most of South's goals also sat entire halfs in the big blow-outs.

mof,
Mpls South's leading goal scorer (32 goals) last year was a senior and the 32 goals may have led the state?
4 players scored 83% of Mpls South goals (111 of 134)last season.
It doesn't appear very many of their goals were tallied after these 4 players left the pitch even in the 11-0, 15-0 and 19-0 matches.
The statistics tell the story in this case.

It has been easy to poke fun at Eagan teams in the past, but they always seem to be able to produce a superstar. Last year it was Suzi Lee before she was injured. On the boys side it was John Baumgartner. (John will be a playing for Notre Dame this year and should have been Mr. Soccer).

But this girls team is on fire! The win over Wayzata proved that!

Look for Eagan to have the first pair of Ms and Mr Soccer winners - David Dale and Angie Olson.

When has Mr Soccer come from a team that loses half it's games?
Eagan lost to the only 2 decent teams they've played this season and they're just getting to the tough part of the schedule.

Baumgarterner Mr. Soccer? I can think of at least 10 players last year who were more deserving including both Vint and Miller, the guys who were very deserving of the recognition. You say that he is "playing for Notre Dame". I don't think that is true just yet. I just checked the website and he hasn't logged a minute quite yet. In addition, I'm sure that we won't have a pair of Mr. and Ms. Soccer Players coming out of Eagan let alone a single winner. At least not this year.

Wexler and Ben Burton would have been great choices too.

Dale scores 2 last night.

Anonymous said...

Dale didn't score his goals last night against a very tough team. They were only rated 2nd in the state in the last coaches poll.

So you really can't count those.

I thought the Idea behind Ms. Soccer was to recognize the best player! Regardless of the team, and regardless of the scores, the player with the most talent should be selected.

As posted earlier...when has a player won Mr Soccer if his team lost 1/2 of their games. Look at the history, it's like writers voting for the MVP in baseball. Winners are always from one of the top teams.

Anonymous said...

winners ARE usually from the top teams. tell me eagan is not for real now. 2-1 vs ep last night, guess who had both goals: yes angela olson. she also had a goal and an assist vs wyzata in a 2-1 win. she does get the pts in blowout wins, but these games show she can also do it against the top teams. heard shes committed to the U already, anyone know if thats true? if olson shouldnt be ms soccer, throw out a name who should.

heard john baumgardner redshirted by the way, but checked and is for sure on the roster. about every other freshmen on the team is all-american so to say he isnt getting any time is harsh, hes a freshmen for notre dame!

Anonymous said...

Hey Lets go back every year there has been a Mr. Soccer and complain about who was selected and then award it to a player from Eagan, EAGAN, EAGAN, EAGAN, EAGAN, EAGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tippy Jordan...

how has Julie's season gone? and how is she leading her team?

Anonymous said...

Julie Rezak and Kylie Kallman are both strong contenders. Both have committed to the U of Minnesota, giving up several other D1 scholarships. Kallman was top scorer for St. Croix (U17) team that won U19 Premier League. Rezak was considered one of top players for (U18) Bangu Tsunami team, most of her club teammates are currently playing D1.

Eagan took one in the chin last night. Did anyone see the game?
