Interesting that people bash MTA teams for traveling to out of state events in the winter months and Dakota Rev teams are commended.
Anyone else catch that?

Anonymous said...

6:59 That's your secomd feeble attempt at eliciting a response so I'll accomodate you. The difference is, I have never heard nor heard of anyone from Dakota Rev using those trips to tournaments as a way to scorn those teams that choose not to do them. That club does not carry the stench of being the divisive force in Minnesota soccer due to gross behavior by some of their people.

7:50,

Well said.

7:50,
Can you specify who from MTA has scorned other teams for not traveling to soccer tournaments?
You paint with a broad brush.
Surely you can provide a specific example?

My memory says the issue with MTA and travel tournaments was more based on the age of the girls traveling.?.? I think the question was around what type of value was created for the cost incurred for 12 year olds. I can't remember too much critical talk about the 14's or 15's as they traveled to Disney etc. What is the right age ??? Probably best to let each team make it's own decision on what that team thinks is best for it's players.

SS Good luck to your 15's in Vegas and to the 13's in AZ.

Anonymous said...

but why should we let each team make it's own decision when my opinion is the right one.........

To paraphrase the great philosopher Forrest Gump: Goober is as goober does.

Anonymous said...

There was also a poster saying why travel to these college search events when 90% or more of the Minnesota kids go to schools in the Midwest.
Obviously they don't realize coaches from the Midwest are in attendance at these winter events.

FWIW, I also wish SS and his team the best while in Vegas. Good luck to you all and bring home some hardware. Whether they go or not is only important to them, it is not anyone else's place to pass judgement.

any other interesting scrimmage results recently? it seems the activity as picked up. again, please don't make comments about 'who cares' blah, blah. I am just curious. I heard some of the u14/15 Premier and C1 teams have been competing. Anyone there to watch see anything interesting?

Rev U15 Premier (1) vs. MTA U14 Blue (3)
Rev U15 Premier (0) vs. Burnsville U 14 Premier (2)

I heard both second hand, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

309, ok I'll bite, who's team did your daughters beat. I'm guessing this is from a MTA U14 Blue parent who's team I heard played and beat Dakota Revs new Premier U15 team. If I'm right, which of course 309 will deny, they just want a little love after their previous year of disappointments. I'm guessing the parents need someone to talk about them to make them feel better. Just a calculated guess!! Congratulations! If I am correct!!

there ain't that takes the cake like a good DRev v MTA catfight...

Anonymous said...

That partiular MTA team is desperate to get some love and respect after the drubbing they took last year so any good news is cause for celebration. That said, scrimmages are not won nor lost. Also, MTAers are jealous of the way Dakota Rev is getting to be a premier club with more than a few MTA kids joining them this year.

hiss-hiss, scratch-scratch, claw-claw (not sure how to type that "rreeaar" sound that cats make).

now this is getting better

I beg to differ, friendlies are won and/or lost. Maybe the scores don't go down on a website for all to see, but there is definately a winner and a loser (unless it is a tie). There is reason score is kept. This isn't U6 soccer people, take your lumps when you lose.

Anonymous said...

3:28 - close, I do have a daughter that plays on a u15 premier team (none mentioned here) and I heard there have been some scrimmages in and around our age group (we have one upcoming). i was just curious who has been doing training and whether anyone looks ahead of the game.

Anonymous said...

I highly doubt MTA is jealous of Dakota Rev. Rev has done an outstanding job of building a solid club with some very good teams. MTA is still the top dog however because they are the current holder of the championships. Both clubs should feel great about the level of play their teams deliver. Both clubs have a great commitment to off season training and providing top teams with top coaching.

I tto want to wish SS and the REV U-13 girls best wishes this weekend.

(Sorry just not a scratcher)

Yes friendlies are won or lost. That said many coaches will use friendlies to experiment with new formations and players in new positions. Then when you add in no officials (at most) and a lowered sense of urgency by most involved. I have no horse in this race but you do have to take the final result of a friendly with a grain of salt.

Hey 4:52! why is it that nobody wants to scrimmage our girls team up to this point? How about you SSM U16? We need to shake off the rust!! I am just curious, bi curious that is.

Anonymous said...

5:13- what girls team is it that you are referencing? I am sure that if you were to contact the coaching staff at SSM (Coach Christopher Citowicki-- check the website). I don't know of a team that has ever askekd for a game that has been denied. If you seek it, it will happen.

How about the Blue teams? Would you be willing to play them, or is SSM scheduling all lower level teams to pad your win and loss columns?

Anonymous said...

i'm not from ssm, but I've never seen them duck anybody. what age is the team? the youngest ssm girls team is U16, so they might play a U15 team on occassion, but doubtful anything much younger. i would suggest you ask your child's coach what the status is.

I heard today that Arsenal 17 boys scrimmaged Westside 17s this past weekend but both were missing players, especially the Arsenal squad

Anonymous said...

To all you chumps.....send your kids down to play us any time any age and we will kick your butts all the way back to the frozen North. You're not even good scrimmage material.

First of all I do not feel there is not a lot of hate (strong word)between MTA and REV coaches and players (can not speak for parents). REV and many of the MTA people talk and discuss soccer on a regular bases.

Heck I even coach college soccer with one of there directors.

Both clubs attend eachother events and more and more of hour teams play or are invited to play scrimmages against eachother.

Do we compete yes but don't we all. we are a lot more civilized about it than many of the parents involved appear to be.

Since so many people appear interested in scrimmage results I will list the once that I know of that has involved REV teams as well as a few bonus games that I happen to know about and people can draw what ever conclusions they want =)

Shattuck 16 vs REV 15 9-0
Wayzatta 15 vs REV 15 0-2
EP 15 vs REV 15 0-3
Eagan 15 vs EP 15 2-0
MTA white 15 vs REV 15 2-1
Wayzatta 15 vs REV 15 1-1
Eagan 15 vs REV 16 0-1
Eagan 15 vs REV 15 2-0
REV 15 vs Eagan 15 1-1
Shattuck 16 vs REV 15 3-2
REV 13 vs REV 15 1-1
Burnsville 14 vs Eagan 15 1-1
MTA 14 VS REV 15 3-1
Shattuck 16 vs REV 15 2-0
Burnsville 14 vs REV 15 2-0
REV 13 vs Tonka 14 3-2
MTA 14 Blue vs MTA 13 Blue 1-1 (think this is correct)
Shattuck 16 vs St Croix (not sure if 16 or 17) 3-1
MTA white 15 vs MTA Blue 14 1-0

Enjoy and I apologize if I got some of the scores wrong.

Sorry forgot!
Thank you for the well wishes to my 15's and Dokken's 13's.

Also know that Thunder 15 boys and there U17 girls as well as the Burnsville 17 girls will be in Vegas and the Blackhawks u17 girls will be in Arizona.

Good luck to all of you.

As far as Shattuck they have been nothing but great to my team and I encourage any team that get a chance to play them to do so.

Thanks for the kind words, SS. For the record, the last SSM U16 friendly was against the St Croix U17s.

Also for the record, I would take the first friendly score with SSM U16s and REV (9-0) and throw that score away. It is quite a different team today than it was on that Fall day.

Does anyone know how this is legal by MYSA's policy? Are they just turning a blind eye or can any club hold a "camp"/tryout in June and take the slap on the wrist + fine?

http://leagueathletics.com/Page.asp?id=9334&snid=137849968&org=epsoccerclub.com

Serious question here.

Anonymous said...

8:46 you are most likely a goober trying to call the kettle black. so read this cut and pasted piece:

These camps are only for EPSC registered players and players who are not currently playing for any travel club. Tryouts for players who are currently playing for another club will not take place until after August 4, 2009.

Any and I would guess most clubs exercise their option of evaluating players committed to them, evaluation is a year 'round activity for clubs interested in DEVELOPMENT as opposed to recruiting contantly. I may be wrong, it's possible you are truly interested in ethical behavior, WH is a man of honor and puts the development of players first always.

9:07,
Is that why he was fined for rules violations a few years ago?

Anonymous said...

IT'S THAT DIRECTORS SLUSH FUND RAISER CAMP THING AGAIN. I'VE SEEN THIS TRICK AT A FEW CLUBS.
WE PRETTY MUCH KNOW WHO IS GONNA BE ON THE TEAM, BUT WERE GONNA MAKE YA COME TO MY CAMP

Anonymous said...

please specify gender , i can't always tell

lc

Anonymous said...

everyone is a bit right about the "camp"...part self serving fund raiser, part tryout. players are evaluated and ranked by multiple evaluators for team formation in August. this also explains why at their "real" tryouts, many of the existing players do not attend.

Anonymous said...

It was a feeble attempt to smear a club and a doc.

Anonymous said...

if it looks like a tryout, sounds like a tryout, smells like a tryout......

Anonymous said...

But, if they aren't evaluating players bound to another club there is no foul.

Read the MYSA rules and try to understand them. There is a clear answer to your question of right and wrong.....if you'd only search for it.

Soon as that post went up my Goodar alert sounded, they are always on the offensive to smear and denigrate others.

Anonymous said...

WH is a man of honor who puts the kids first? OMG, are you serious man? You obviously can't see str8 with your nose shoved so far up his you know what.
WH is one of the most self-serving DOCs out there and you are completely blind if you can't see it. He clearly knows the game and is successful in part because he has one of the largest and most affluent communities to work with which provide numbers for youth teams and HS teams, but to say he puts the development of his players first always is one of the most ridiculous claims ever made on this blog. And that says a lot.
As for the camp SSM brings up a great point. It is apparently legal to do whatever you want with players in your own club and I expect other clubs to follow suit this year.
Lastly to you haters who can't seem to get past a club that is no longer in existence, for the love of God please seek some much needed counseling. Even though we might not agree with the formula or methods, most of us have been able to move on.
