With surprise winners at last years Boy's finals, who are some of the favorites coming into this fall season? Who are some of the top players in the metro area?
i also went to the coon rapids vs mg game and coon rapids did not look that impressive. i agree that they had a sloppy goal and mg had many chances. I dont think that coon rapids will make it out of their section.
I monitor this board on occassion and find most of the discussion idiotic and distasteful. In regards to your question about the coach bashing, soccer coaching in the entire country is sub par. There are not enough talented, quality people who know what they are doing. This is the main factor contributing to the statistic that soccer is the most played and most quit sport in the United States. This dearth of quality is blatantly obvious with the standard of refereeing and with coaching it is no different. The reasons for it are many but what it comes down to is a lack of any history of serious soccer culture. The immigrant populations in places as near to the twin cities as Milwaukee and Chicago have provided a great soccer history and with it, ex-players who have gone on to coach in their adult lives. It is reflected in the quality of high school and youth soccer played in those areas and it is what Minnesota lacks.
There are improvements in HS coaching but slowly for the better. There are schools don't want to hire immigrants or qualified coaches. They tend to stick with who they know best which is safe but not for competitive. I guess when working with kids you have put people in charge that you know that they won't hurt or abuse the kids.
MG moves the ball around well, but has no dynamic forwards to create opportunities on top.
CR is not as skilled but plays to their strength of being a big physical team. Their forwards need the other teams to make mistakes in order to score. CR has played together all summer, so they are well organized in the back.
Coon Rapids will win their sectionals because they have NO competition. Section participants- Anoka, Blaine, Forest Lake, Elk River, St. Francis, Andover, Duluth. There biggest competition will be from Duluth.
It would be a tough game for Eagan w/o RS IMO. But if they can pull it off then more power to them. Go Wildcats!
Anonymous said... Me xman - You are missing one really good game to watch. On paper this is a snoozer, but this is a same school district rivalry. Eagan vs. Eastview. Will Eagan extend to a 9 game winning streak???? 2/10/08 1:49 PM
In spite of Jefferson's struggles of late, a betting man would bet on the Section 2AA title game featuring EP and Jefferson... and EP's single loss this season came at the hands (or feet) of Jefferson.
I would say that one good offensive coach in Minnesota is Mark Obarski, I know he coaches girls high school, but he has had the Valley u-17 boys since they were 8 and 9 years old, they play very direct, but with a purpose, its not just boot ball, those boys can play possession with the absolute best of them if they need to, but they are not told to or allowed to in high school ball
To be honest, this blog and all these rankings dont mean anything. In high school soccer anything can happen any given night. I garuntee half of the teams ranked right now dont even make it to the state tournament. It's October baby!
You guys have no idea on Storlien. His great teams score a ton of goals. His average teams defend well and win more games than they should. In the late 90's when I played in the Lake Conf his team was terrible and they won the Lake. I was so mad they won. I don't rate them that high this year but I still rate him as a coach. I would not bet against any of his teams becasue they always do better than they should and that is coaching, getting your players to play better than they should. I agree Jefferson and EP in the section final.
Best stat for seeing who will be playing at the end is goals against
EP 6 Coon Rapids 9 Owatana 10 Mayo 11 Apple Valley 12 Jefferson 13 St Louis Park 13 Eagan 14 Armstrong 15 Stillwater 17 Woodbury 17 Hopkins 19 Osseo 28
A few teams still have games. A few teams play easy schedules.
Brown is the player of the year but Osseo gives up more goals than Brown and team can score to win it all.
My section final predictions
Owatana vs Mayo will be a great section final, possible seeded team but weak schedule could keep them out of the top four. If all the top teams win no chance of a seed.
Eagan vs Valley will be a great section final. Winner will get one of the four seeds at state.
EP vs Jefferson will be a great section final. EP will get a seed at state Jefferson probably not.
Stillwater vs WDBY will be a great section final, neither team will get one of the four seeds
Osseo will cruise in sections but lose in semi final at state, they will get one of the four seeds at state, so in theory an easier 1st round game at state.
Hopkins vs Armstrong will be a great section final, possible seed but probably not if the top four get in the tourney (AV, Osseo,EP, Coon Rapids)
Coon Rapids will cruise but lose in semi final at state, like Osseo will get one of the four seeds and then lose in the semi.
Elk River in section 8. Lose first game of state.
My pick Section 2 winner vs Section 3 winner or AV/EAGAN vs EP/JEFFERSON
Bottom line is teams defending the best will win it all
Holy crap--crazy scores last night. Osseo losing 1-4! Cretin getting pounded. WBL and Hopkins taking it on the chin. I love October. Play-off game feeling...
I wonder how many highly-skilled players do stoopid things/injuries each season? Schlitter is done, I don't think Webster from MG has played, any others? Both of those guys were mentioned as Mr. Soccer candidates at one time or another...

Owatonna (11-2-0) 63.2 o I believe QRF calculation is much more accurate than coaches assessments. o I totally support Hopkins and Armstrong to be in Top 10. o Wayzata and Owatonna are the two I wasn't expecting but looking over the results one can make a case for them. o Mpls Southwest, Bloomington Jefferson, and Woodbury are overrated.
I guarantee Jefferson will not make it to their section final. I've never seen so much hype for a very average team. They tied Burnsville...enough said. They struggle mightily in the offensive third, and are not composed on the ball. I know they have a lot of fans on here but this team is not very good. The only way they reach the final is if they win two shoot-outs.

-- Owatonna at No. 10 is ridiculous. Even though they somehow beat Eagan, they have been shut out by the other two decent teams they played, Mayo (5-0) and Apple Valley (3-0).
-- No. 8 St. Louis Park has only one quality result against a Class AA school, a 1-1 tie with Wayzata
Elk river will have a tougher chance in sections then every one is making it seem. Tying Brainerd without starting center back due to injury, and without keeper due to suspension, and only tying on a wonder strike. St.Cloud Tech and Brainerd both have the same chance as them, and dont look down upon 8aa, we may not be in the metro area, but there is still very good talent on those teams, just not the recognition.
Elk River is the best team in the 8AA section. They got unlucky when they tied Brainerd, look at the teams they've beat or came close to beating. Who is this Kaminsky? 13 goals
The teams getting blown out will not be in it at the end. Can't be that inconsistent. Every team has a tie or even a questionable loss, but look for the teams that are in every game and don't give up goals and they will be left stadning.
AV lost by 4 goals to EP Osseo lost by 3 goals to Elk River EP tied Kennedy Coon Rapids lost 3-0 to Cretin St Louis Park lost 4-0 to Madison and a few bad ties Woodbury a few bad ties, no blow outs Jefferson a few bad ties, no blow outs Eagan lost 3-0 to EP
To me EP looks like the best team. They have only give up 7 goals. I will take them to win it all.
I disagree with your comments on Jefferson and if anyone can beat EP it will be Jefferson because they defend well. I will pick EP and AV in the state final
When I played, and the section seed meeting was the next night, we would always sit the studs. It might be a tight one with DeLasalle or whatever crappy team we were playing, but no one cared. Hopefully WB sat for the right reason, and not for discipline issues.
That said, who is #9 at Park Center? That kid is a stud. Plays up top, blazing speed and great touch. Put him on Jefferson or EP and it would be lights-out.

Goals by Ryan Johnsrud & Mitch Granlund, and great saves by goalie, Mason Harless, won the game for the Falcons. Way to go boys!

How did South shutdown Ryan Erhardt and Ryan Johnsrud? Anonymous said... South outclassed Armstrong,RA put about one attacking play together, looked like a mis match. 4/10/08 7:48 PM
No way hopkins should be in the rankings. They have lost 5 times.
Why would you drop Woodbury out? WDBY 2 time losers. Best in SEC.
Jefferson should be in too. A win and a tie over the top two teams. They are four time losers still better than Hopkins five. Jefferson much tougher schedule then Hopkins too. Jefferson vs #1 AV tie, #2 EP win, #5Eagan 2-1 loss, 1-0 loss to Armstrong and Edina(not bad loses), and win vs South. They are one of the few teams that have not been blown out.
I know the paper and others are into stats, it would be interesting to find out how many Reds and Yellows these teams have received. Osseo for example I think has many reds. In the two different games I've seen Osseo players punch their opponents in the back of the head. One resulted in a red card, one because of the speed of play, the referee only caught the fan noise and the Osseo players posturing. Granted it is only two games, which is why it woulld be interesting to see if this is normal behavior or just their reaction to individual game frustration.
To make a run thru sectionals and State, teams have to have some composure. I would think the Red cards for sure and to some extent yellow cards would give some indictation of a teams composure. Teams could have a significant number of yellows, to indicate that they are pushing themselves. Red's indicate that they are stressed and cannot control themselves. Which will make them crumble to the stress of sectionals and the State Tournament.
South has a good team, capable of beating anyone now that fasting has ended. They have about 5,6 Westside premier 17s,seems they play mostly at the back.
my my - OK let's take a deep breathe and ask ourselves when is this going to stop. we bash the summer leagues, we bash high school soccer and now we even bash the players who strive to play a sport america as yet to accept contrary to the rest of the world.
I know whitney and his family. they are good people and whitney is a good kid and whether he gets Mr. soccer or not, he will have my support as a good kid who still has the issues that brought him to US to deal with. WB has bigger daily issues just like other africans to deal with and we continue to denounce these kids. let's lay off and hope that we can get them to be successful citizens in all works of life and not just soccer. For some of you, you have never met any of these kids except on the soccer field, and you continue to make them sound like they are criminals. stop the insults. why all these anger and resentments. so he has a good year, so his team is having fun in a very trouble school district, why do we want to take this away? If we really want to see this sport grow, we should keep it to a higher level and not continue to tear down the very few players, coaches, and parents who still play, coach, and support soccer in MN. Something tells me we don't want to see the sport grow as we cannot see our kids succeed and be happy for them. something tells me we are so bitter, we wished we could have spent the time watching another sport or do something else.
WB or any other player will do well and few years from now, we should be ashamed of what we thought of them.
I'm trying to figure out what Osseofan is responding to?
"WB has bigger daily issues just like other africans to deal with" STOP USING THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN AS AN EXCUSE FOR BAD BEHAVIOR! I also haven't seen anyone on here accuse WB of bad behavior. Only you!
"continue to make them sound like they are criminals." I haven't read that? Are you telling us that WB is a criminal?
"so his team is having fun in a very trouble school district," Sorry, I haven't heard that the school district was very troubled. uh isn't this the same school district Maple Grove is in?
Osseofan- your obviously are a great fan, but you just accused WB and Osseo of much more than anyone else. I'm sorry if I was WB or and Osseo player I be asking you to stop helping me.
By the way, RG, RS and anyone else stupid enough to promote themselves for Mr. Soccer on this blog have also been ripped apart. Look at last years stuff regarding Mr. Soccer.
Just matter of time WB will win Mr. Soccer award. No one else can come close to this kid. He doesn't need any sympathy. He's done what he can for the team and himself.
On the boys side, other than Jefferson varsity every once in a while, what makes you say this? Is their club program strong? Do they have a good field with big crowds? Bloomington underachieves in comparison to its neighboring cities.
WB has my Mr. Soccer vote (and to think he should be an 11th grader by age, that's a nice season for him).

Jefferson is the smallest school to play in and win the AA final at #36. You can see that EP and Wayzata are #1 and #2 some of the most consisitent success. All but three of the last 20 state champions are in the top in the top 20 enrollments. Armstrong at #23 and Jefferson at #36. SPA is the last winner that is a small school and now that Lagos is gone they go to A.
Large schools still need money. The Anoka Hennepin School District is proud of the fact they can deliver a cheep education. Which includes Anoka, Blaine, Champlin Park, and Coon Rapids. Here is what I think the formula looks like.
Money + Coach + School Size = State Champs
The Star Tribune had an article on it a couple of years ago, on how money and school size equates to sucess in HS sports.

QRF calculation NOT supporting these teams in Top 10 Woodbury (#28 52.0) Stillwater Area (#23 56.5) Minneapolis Southwest (#25 54.3) o Are these in Top 10 for political purposes and not for strength? o Don't want too much Classic Lake representation in Top 10?
QRF calculation supporting these teams in Top 10 Wayzata (8-5-4) 69.8 Rochester Mayo (12-1-1) 69.5 Hopkins (9-5-1) 68.4
They care because of the imbalanced sections. The top 8 teams don't make it to state, so they don't get recognized as a top team unless the rankings say so.
Top 20 Goals Allowed 1. Eden Prairie (0.4) 2. Minneapolis Southwest (0.5) 3. St. Paul Central (0.5) 4. Tartan (0.6) 5. Apple Valley (0.7) 6. Coon Rapids (0.7) 7. Bloomington Jefferson (0.8) 8. "A few thoughts o Questionable ranking for Stillwater Area, Mpls Southwest, and Woodbury. o Mpls Southwest is ranked behind Mpls South and Wayzata in Section 6AA seedings. o Hopkins and Wayzata should be in Top 10."
Yes, St. Paul Central end up with a 3rd seed. Hahahaha. Can't stop laughing. Woodbury higher than Central. Who fixed that one. Even Stillwater as #1 is a stretch. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
The teams that play in the City conferences would struggle if they played in the Lake. I would say .500 year in and year out. How many Mpls City or St Paul City teams have ever won the State Championship? I can't think of any. Can someone help? Typically ( not this year for South and SW), but many times in the past they played in very very easy sections and still could not win the state champinship. South and SW now have one of the toughest sections, but no team from that section will win the state tourney this year. Its deep but lacks the very top level team.
EP vs AV in the final game
The Lake and Classic Lake are the best two conferences and the Lake is the best.
I will personally make sure that Jefferson does not lose to Eden Prairie. Even though they have almost twice as many people we will not lose in regulation to EP.

«Oldest ‹Older 1401 – 1557 of 1557i also went to the coon rapids vs mg game and coon rapids did not look that impressive. i agree that they had a sloppy goal and mg had many chances. I dont think that coon rapids will make it out of their section.
It would be interesting to know if anyone other than Eagan parents really care about the Eagan game tonight.
I think Armstrong should be in the top ten, they have proved to be a serious contender for october.

3:53pm I'm glad you only monitor on occassion. The dearth of your blog is blatantly subjective.
I agree with you. Armstrong will be in Top 10 next week along with Hopkins.
Bloomington Jefferson and Edina should be out.

Me xman - You are missing one really good game to watch. On paper this is a snoozer, but this is a same school district rivalry. Eagan vs. Eastview.
Will Eagan extend to a 9 game winning streak????
2/10/08 1:49 PM
3:59 do you have any opinion on the quality of coaching or just the quality of blogging?
In spite of Jefferson's struggles of late, a betting man would bet on the Section 2AA title game featuring EP and Jefferson... and EP's single loss this season came at the hands (or feet) of Jefferson.
I would say that one good offensive coach in Minnesota is Mark Obarski, I know he coaches girls high school, but he has had the Valley u-17 boys since they were 8 and 9 years old, they play very direct, but with a purpose, its not just boot ball, those boys can play possession with the absolute best of them if they need to, but they are not told to or allowed to in high school ball
What does Mark Obarski do in training sessions to have developed this direct offense and/or possession team?
Valley 17s play the worst soccer I have seen, they do win doing it but only up to a certain level.
ipredict osseo -elk river 2-2
Elk River - 4
Osseo - 1
Ryan MacArthur from Zimmerman goes over 100 points for high school career netting 2 goals tonight.
WOW! Ryan is a beast!
Eagan 3 Eastview 0 - Head Coach Kurt Virgins 400th career victory. Congrats to Mr. Virgin and this terrific accomplishment.
To be honest, this blog and all these rankings dont mean anything. In high school soccer anything can happen any given night. I garuntee half of the teams ranked right now dont even make it to the state tournament. It's October baby!
-Champlin Park Parent
You guys have no idea on Storlien. His great teams score a ton of goals. His average teams defend well and win more games than they should. In the late 90's when I played in the Lake Conf his team was terrible and they won the Lake. I was so mad they won. I don't rate them that high this year but I still rate him as a coach. I would not bet against any of his teams becasue they always do better than they should and that is coaching, getting your players to play better than they should. I agree Jefferson and EP
in the section final.
Osseo must had a bad night or ER outplayed them.
Hey 10:22pm we here are very serious and you can take your naive butt outa here.
Ranking is important for our egos so if your ego is small or none then you need not to be in this conversation. Bye bye dude.

What happened to MG?
This must be a bad year for them?
When do the section rankings happen?
Wow Eagan beats Eastview 3-0 without Schlittler!!!
Most sections seed on Sunday
Cretin really bad!!!
People dont understand how close ths suburbun east conference and how any team can beat any team on any given day
Section games should be quite interesting. Xman you have any games to watch for?
Can Schlittler still be running for Mr. Soccer?
Best stat for seeing who will be playing at the end is goals against
EP 6
Coon Rapids 9
Owatana 10
Mayo 11
Apple Valley 12
Jefferson 13
St Louis Park 13
Eagan 14
Armstrong 15
Stillwater 17
Woodbury 17
Hopkins 19
Osseo 28
Bottom line is teams defending the best will win it all
No RS can not win any postseason awards because of his actions
Holy crap--crazy scores last night. Osseo losing 1-4! Cretin getting pounded. WBL and Hopkins taking it on the chin. I love October. Play-off game feeling...
I wonder how many highly-skilled players do stoopid things/injuries each season? Schlitter is done, I don't think Webster from MG has played, any others? Both of those guys were mentioned as Mr. Soccer candidates at one time or another...
Can RS still make All State team?
Any MINOR eliminates one from consideration for All -State. Goalie from Holy Angels last year had same issue. Best goalie i have ever seen.
Does anybody know where Moosh is playing this year? I heard he did not end up going to Louiseville?
10:09, Thorough analysis. Four Lake Conference teams are your top 4 (EP, AV, EAG, BJ).
My top 4 are:
1. Osseo
2. EP
3. Owatonna
4. Mayo
Any clean and good players left for Mr. Soccer? Bueller?
Osseo attacked so hard that made them vulnerable for counter-attacks and that was it. ER played a great game. They should have won more games.
That's too bad for RS.
He still can get All Conference.
11:32 -- Owatonna and Mayo, are you serious? At best, they would be bottom half of any decent metro conference.
Like I said before, Osseo lets too many in. I agree that goals against is what to look at first.

Games to watch Saturday:
Mpls South at Armstrong -- 1 PM
Champions from Minneapolis City and Classic Lake, and competitors in Section 6AA.
Me-x's Osseo lost to lowly Elk River. Time to fire the coach! Just kidding.
I wouldn't say Elk River is lowly team.

Armstrong vs Mpls South should be a good game to watch and it's on my watch list.
MPLS South could not score a goal against Benilde, an averge A team. They don't have a prayer against Armstrong.
I would agree to this Section 6AA seedings:
1. Hopkins
2. Robbinsdale Armstrong
3. Wayzata
4. St. Louis Park
5. Minneapolis Southwest
6. Minneapolis South
7. Buffalo
8. Robbinsdale Cooper
Hopkins vs Armstrong for title.
Section 6AA
1. Armstrong/South winner
2. Armstrong/South loser
3. Wayzata
4. St. Louis Park
5. Minneapolis SW
6. Hopkins
7. Buffalo
8. Cooper
Benilde (No. 7A) tied Eden Prairie (No. 3AA), St. Louis Park (No. 4AA) and Minneapolis Southwest (No. 8AA). South played BSM without their best player (Sam Hyneh) and it was their 4th game in 5 days.
11:56 why is this too bad for RS? he brought all this upon himself, if he were injured then yes too bad for him, but not anymore he let down a lot of people with a stupid decision
Other than himself and his family, who is he letting down? Looks like Eagan will be just fine without him after a 3-0 win.

o I totally support Hopkins and Armstrong to be in Top 10.
o Wayzata and Owatonna are the two I wasn't expecting but looking over the results one can make a case for them.
o Mpls Southwest, Bloomington Jefferson, and Woodbury are overrated.
Section 6AA is Section of Death with 4 teams in QRF Top 10 ranking.

From your previous post:
Anoka got beat by lowly Blaine 5-1. Not 1-0 but FIVE-ONE. Ouch! How could it be? Can they recover from the thrashing.
Can osseo recover from the thrashing?
The teams that give up the least amount of goals and have played the toughest schedule will be the teams standing when the state tourney starts.
Hard to say Jefferson is overrated when they beat EP, and tied AV. I would not want to play Jefferson.
QRF rankings:
-- Based on Classic Lake standings, how can Hopkins be rated above Armstrong & Wayzata:
1. Armstrong 5-2-1
2. Wayzata 4-2-2
4. Hopkins 3-5-0
Mayo looks to be a good team. The teams giving up a lot of goals will not be playing very long in the playoffs.
Osseo 3, Rogers 2
WB is benchwarmer.
Not sure why.
I see Osseo has recovered to beat Rogers. They'll be back in good form for Section.
Hopkins has 68.3 and Armstrong has 68. They're virtually even.
Minneapolis South 4, Robbinsdale Armstrong 0
What happened to high flying falcons?
Elk River is the best team in the 8AA section. They got unlucky when they tied Brainerd, look at the teams they've beat or came close to beating. Who is this Kaminsky? 13 goals
The teams getting blown out will not be in it at the end. Can't be that inconsistent. Every team has a tie or even a questionable loss, but look for the teams that are in every game and don't give up goals and they will be left stadning.
AV lost by 4 goals to EP
Osseo lost by 3 goals to Elk River
EP tied Kennedy
Coon Rapids lost 3-0 to Cretin
St Louis Park lost 4-0 to Madison and a few bad ties
Woodbury a few bad ties, no blow outs
Jefferson a few bad ties, no blow outs
Eagan lost 3-0 to EP
To me EP looks like the best team. They have only give up 7 goals. I will take them to win it all.
I disagree with your comments on Jefferson and if anyone can beat EP it will be Jefferson because they defend well. I will pick EP and AV in the state final
Osseo 3 Rogers 2
Wow a unranked Class A team plays a close one to the MIGHTY OSSEO.......
South outclassed Armstrong,RA put about one attacking play together, looked like a mis match.
#9 PC is David Saidu.
Rochester Century 2, Owatonna 0
Owatanna won't make out of section playoffs if they keep playing like this.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS ! Armstrong varsity clinched the Classic Lake Conference title with their 2-1 win over Edina, bringing their season record to 11-4-2. Great play by everyone. Goals by Ryan Johnsrud & Mitch Granlund, and great saves by goalie, Mason Harless, won the game for the Falcons. Way to go boys!
Didn't they just get smoked by South?
Yessir, the Falcons got dusted.
And SLP was revealed as an OK team as they could not beat middling Maple Grove at home. Someone hinted at this fact yesterday.
Any other interesting results?
Sections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
St Louis Park is not as good as the ranking they have been getting all year. If they played in the Lake they would be a game or two above the middle.

What's your Mr. Soccer? One vote only.
Whitney Browne has my vote.
Whitney Brown deserves Mr. Soccer without a doubt. He has taken an average team and had them in the top 3 in the rankings all year
No way hopkins should be in the rankings.
Ryan Johnsrud? Dude, have you ever seen this kid play. Slow motion at best.
11:55am is an idiot. How can they do so good if many players were out on red cards.
first red, current plus next game out. second red, current plus next 4 games out.
South has a good team, capable of beating anyone now that fasting has ended.
They have about 5,6 Westside premier 17s,seems they play mostly at the back.
Hopkins is good and should be in Top 10.
what club team does whitney browne play for?
my my - OK let's take a deep breathe and ask ourselves when is this going to stop. we bash the summer leagues, we bash high school soccer and now we even bash the players who strive to play a sport america as yet to accept contrary to the rest of the world.
Whitney is a good kid and a lock to win Mr Soccer. Good for him.

QF: Wayzata vs Mpls Southwest --- Wayzata
QF: Mpls South vs Buffalo --- Mpls South
QF: St. Louis Park vs Hopkins --- Hopkins
Final: Armstrong vs Hopkins --- Hopkins
* Only Wayzata has figured out how to beat Hopkins twice.
"Bloomington is not a bad soccer city?"
"WB doesn't need sympathy." Implying he does.
Poor WB. Feel better now.
idk i like wayzata to come out of this section. they have looked really strong lately including the 3-0 win against hopkins
WB doesn't need any praises.

Congrats on past years but this is 2008 and Jefferson will have hard time getting out section.
EP will take it.
Size matters!
I agree EP will win the state championship. I was just making the point that the larger schools have an advantage.
Maybe they all need better coaches?
Bloomington outscored Eden Prairie 2-1 this year.
Minneapolis South can beat anybody.
Armstrong are overrated
what is the seeding for 1AA?
7AA
1. Coon Rapids
2. Anoka
3. Andover
4. Blaine
5. Forest Lake
6. St. Francis
7. Cambridge-Isanti
8. Eveleth-Gilbert
Large schools still need money. The Anoka Hennepin School District is proud of the fact they can deliver a cheep education. Which includes Anoka, Blaine, Champlin Park, and Coon Rapids. Here is what I think the formula looks like.
Money + Coach + School Size = State Champs
The Star Tribune had an article on it a couple of years ago, on how money and school size equates to sucess in HS sports.
whitney brown will definitely get MR. SOCCER.
Apple Valley Vs. Eagan in 3AA Section Finals. Burnsville , Rosemount , Hastings LOSE FIRST ROUND!
I will take EP or AV in the State Final
If we make it 8v8, size won't matter as much and we'll remove a lot of the bad players that bring down the product.
Just think how much more fan friendly the high school game would be if it were 8v8. Students might actually attend games.
and play in hockey rink.

A few thoughts
o Questionable ranking for Stillwater Area, Mpls Southwest, and Woodbury.
o Mpls Southwest is ranked behind Mpls South and Wayzata in Section 6AA seedings.
o Hopkins and Wayzata should be in Top 10.
South has won their last 7 games including beating Southwest and Armstrong 4-0...SW has tie against 1 win Roseville and hasn't beat any top 10 teams.
Mpls SW is overrated IMO.

Stillwater Area (#23 56.5)

o Don't want too much Classic Lake representation in Top 10?
QRF calculation supporting these teams in Top 10
Wayzata (8-5-4) 69.8
Rochester Mayo (12-1-1) 69.5
Hopkins (9-5-1) 68.4
Who cares? Let the best team win. I think from looking at record that EP should win.
They care because of the imbalanced sections. The top 8 teams don't make it to state, so they don't get recognized as a top team unless the rankings say so.
May the best defense win.

Yes, St. Paul Central end up with a 3rd seed. Hahahaha. Can't stop laughing. Woodbury higher than Central. Who fixed that one. Even Stillwater as #1 is a stretch. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Let the sectionals begin...
