U20 World Cup; Men's National Team; Copa America; American's Overseas

A place to talk about non-MN youth soccer. Lets talk about the U20 World Cup, the Men's National team, the Copa America and Americans overseas (mostly Europe).

Thanks MNFUTBOL for the post. Tomass will also be very happy.

Yes, the offside call in the Gold Cup. I think if they had not played beyond the announced extra time, you would have seen the referee reverse the call after communicating with his AR. Rarely does the US benefit from a referees decision...it was great to see one go their way.

Yes, Adu was used by the MLS for marketing an over hyped. His development has been slow. I think Novak, who kept him on the bench, did more for his development than most realize.

Yes, Bradley has impressed with the full national side. When I saw he was brought in, I was ready to scream “fire the coach”, but he has worked out well. I believe he is already overseas in a second tier league, but I would expect he will move up sometime this year. I expected him to really stand out with the U20s, but he can't seem to get on track. I have also been impressed by Altendore. He seems to be a bit of a cherry picker, but he scores goals.

The full national team is certainly more exciting to watch with Bradley’s new up tempo style. The question is can they continue to develop within the style and adjust all of their tactics to benefit from the style.

Mexico’s U20s seem to be the real deal. Wow can they play. They don’t seem to get as caught up in the diving and dirty play as the full national team. I could easily see a significant change over in Mexico’s world cup qualifying team…although they are doing well at the Copa America.

Looks like the US under-20s beat Uraguy 2-1 in extra time. Winning goal by Bradley. The stats and media seem to show the US was outplayed...sometimes it is better to be lucky!

I've looked thru my cable channels, do I have the wrong package. What channel/station are you guys getting the games on?

2 parts of the US-20 group play games were on ESPN2. They were not ever listed in the programming guide. I saw highlights of the Mexico U20s at half time of the US games.

You can find highlight clips at http://www.fifa.com/u20worldcup/index.html

Otherwise I don't know if any other U20 or Copa America games will be on tv. There is plenty of reporting on each game, just google it.

Copa America games should still be on the Hispanic Channel 99 - with comcast

Had a great time with the 4 hispanic players on my team before the start of our 9:00 Pm game down at the Urban Stars field last night.

found a mexican eatery and watched the first half of Mexico and Argentina amongst some very avid soccer fans for both sides.

The buckets of refreshment sure were tempting

Very dissappointing result for the USA against Austria. Oh well, on the the world stage there is rarely a moment you can have an uninspired game.

Brasil 3 Argentina 0

Wow what a game. The score was not reflective of the match. Argentia seemed to have a little better of the play, but Brasil was very disiplined defensively and finished their chances + 1 own goal. Brasil seem to perform better when they don't have all of their super stars on the field.

USA definitely had their chances but seemed to make the wrong decision every time they had a scoring opportunity.

Brazil had Arg defense on their heels the whole time and capitalized. Midfield was even match but Arg could not get anything going offensively.

The U17 losing to Tunisia today 3-1 was a big blow to our egos especially the coaches at Brandenton and the US Federation.

MLS is not going to do it, Brandenton is not doing it and now we have the Academies. hmmm

Let's quit the politics and get some kids from overseas-give them visas and passport and go win the WC.

All the noise about winning WC in 2010 with places like Brandenton and the Academy is nothing but a joke.

Our U17 proved again that we are not going to go too far with Brandenton players.
