With all of the banter about the possibility of the Wings hiring a new DOC, I am creating this post. The Wings are certainly one of Minnesota's finest youth soccer clubs and the hiring of a new DOC is certainly news to the soccer community.
A brief word of warning: If you post as "Anon" and write any blatant personal attacks or are just plain nasty, I will delete your comments.

Wings makes a decision detrimental and perhaps even the beginning of the end to the future of the club. Stay tuned.

In that case I would agree with Anon 11:54. The beginning of the end.
I am neither Bangu or Wings, but a former Westside member. Hey mnfutbol how about a post on the new Wings DOC?

New Wings DOC is not Carl Craig.

FYI - I've restarted Minnesota Soccer Scene and it can now be found at http://mnsoccer.wordpress.com
Also, the new Wings DOC has not been officially hired yet so no news to post about.

Though Carl is not 'Officially' Hired as the Wings DOC on any websites. Being a Wings parents/coach you can pretty much say he is with him being in the office and making all the coaching decisions and team placement. It's pretty much a done deal, and I'm not trying to start rumors. If you are from Wings you know as well as I do that is what is happening.

Looks like nfcsoccer is back to restart the old Wings blog. He must not have been happy to see MN soccer discussions that did not put his beloved wings front and center. For those of us, non-bangu, non-wings people mnfubol will continue to be a better option.

Let the poor Wings and Bangu babies play with their toys. If they don't like the rules or like what people are saying, they take their balls with them. NFC and Wings are cry babies and now he has time to do this. I wonder what his motives are? Maybe self promotion???
It is amazing how life works.
It's all about Bangu and Wings and let's not forget that.

For those who are not aware, NFCSOCCER is a Wings board member and probably pissed off that some dirty laundry is being aired. His new site is timed just after the DOC stuff started above.

NFCSOCCER is not on the Wings Board.

FYI - I'm not a Wings board member and never have been. I do coach for Wings...this has been well known for sometime now. No ulterior motives, no self-promotion needed. Reasons stated for starting again are the real reasons. The timing is merely a coincidence. No dirty laundry to cover up. You'll believe what you want to believe, but thought I would try and clear up a couple of things that are misstatements.

By the way what does this have to do with Bangu. Why is it that Bangu is always getting dragged over the coals.

nfc you have no cred. In your previous blog on at least 3 occasions you stated that you had nothing to do with the wings club, but that you had friends there which is why you had so much wings info. So which is it, what do you do for the wings besides run a their propoganda machine? are you coach, a board member, a former board member, a parent, a player, ???

Who are the candidates for the Wings DOC
I have not heard of any candidates that Wings has made public about the position, but yet the decision of all coaches and teams placement are made by Carl Craig with the help of some board members doing some of the paperwork. I don't how this is a fair and open process. Especially after the Westside debacle Carl left that club in. I think Carl is a great coach don't get me wrong but I don't think he is a Steve Bellis in managing or Directing a club like Wings.
I'm a Bangu guy and I think NFC has been fairly objective in his posts regarding all the kids in Minnesota youth soccer.
There are rabid Wings fans who make posts to get the Bangu faithful steamed and vice versa.
This is a great forum for all of us with kids in MYSA and HS soccer to have a little fun...everybody lighten up.
Nice to see some people come to your rescue NFC. But I agree with the previous Anon that you have lost your credibility. By lying, especially about your affiliations and thus your opinion-allegiants, you have broken fundamental rules of journalism. As someone writing a blog, and claiming to be fair and impartial, it will be difficult to get the trust back. You are in the same group as Delay, Ellison, Lyden, Bush, Hatch and the rest of dirt bags who tell the truth when it benefits them and then are deceitful and dishonest as part of self promotion. You came back into the blog world at a very suspicious time, just when your club was about to get some bad press. Sounds self promoting to me, but then again, that would fit your MO. And just to make sure the other Wings people don’t think this is a shot at the Wings, the Wings are an outstanding club, full of good, honest people who care about youth soccer. Most other clubs are also filled with the same.
Hey, time for a little forgiveness here. NFC didn't do as much "journalism" as he created a wonderful space for Minnesota soccer banter. He's come clean (I never detected a Wings bias anyway) and is opening up his forum again. And tell me again, how was he "self-promoting" when most of us blokes out here had no idea who he was, or is, whether he coached a team, or was a parent?
I say he's like any other self-important Wings (or Bangu) person. Dishonest and lacking accountability. Blah, blah, blah, listen to me talk, listen to me write things about what interest me so that I feel good about myself, agree with me, tell me how smart and clever I am, its all about me, I am so important and coach a state cup team, with player stolen from other clubs, I can act like an a-hole on the sidelines, my players can be cheap, my players parents can bitch and yell insults at the ref, the opposing team players, the opposing team parents and I am not accoutable to anyone, not MYSA, not my club officials, no one.
I, me, I, me, I, me, I me...get it?
His self-promoting, dishonest behavior is root of what is wrong is youth sports...make that the united states.
And your passive-agressive who is he hurting mentaltiy is so minnesota nice.
I'm curious about the "dirty laundry" that is going to come out. If you have the info, out with it. If not, stop your whining.
I'm a Bangu parent and it continues to amaze me when I see people on this blog slam Bangu and Wings personnel for no apparent reason.
Have you people who slam these individuals ever taken the time to talk to them or is this just "lets hate the club because they win mentality" or general animosity towards their clubs?
Or is this animosity more focused on the parents attitudes?
I've had the opportunity to meet with Neil, Zahl and Hoaglin from Bangu and also Steve Bellis when he was with the Wings as my kid was deciding which program to join after we realized he'd outgrown his CC.
I found these gentlemen to be down to earth and dedicated to raising the caliber of play in their clubs but also in the state.
I know Bangu parents can get a little excited on the sidelines but it really isn't all that different from the community club to which we belonged.
I'd love to hear some opinions.
Thanks!
You've got to love the lecture from Mr. Anonymous 10:37 about being accountable, but hard to hear the last part he's sputtering over his shoulder as he scurries back behind his anonymous rock. Haven't we all seen angry guys like this on sidelines? Unfortunately, I think every club has a few of them. So I pose the question (hope it's not too far off topic): is there greater passion (and anger, angst, chippiness, insecurity, etc.) among parents in this youth sport as compared to others?
I don't think there is any dirty laundry. It will just be announced at some point that CC will not be hired. The decision has been made.
In my experience the most rabid parents in Minnesota youth sports are hockey moms and dads.
My kids have been involved in both soccer and hockey but hockey parents in my opinion are far and away the most vocal and opinionated.
I think this has something to do with Minnesotans growing up with hockey which makes them all think they're experts.
Most soccer parents (not all) never played the game and many are still a little reluctant to voice their opinion realizing they aren't "experts".
This is gradually changing but the hockey rink is still the place to find the most rabid youth sport fans.
nutmeg, how are you not anonymous? your profile is blank. you are as anonymous as anyone else except for the few who have owned up to their identity.
This must a hot enough topic the Wings web site is now down. Maybe there will be updates when it comes back up.
Have you had a daughter play competative basketball - wow. The basketball parents take the cake IMHO. In a 8th grade state basketball game (WI) a parnet needed to be restrained after his daughter fouled out, in a 6th/7th place game. Makes soccer look tame.
Thank you to Nfcsoccer for bringing your blog back! I think your analysis and recaps are great! Really enjoy most of the regulars even if I don't always agree. Ha! Keep up the good work...and if I am correct in guessing your true identity (?)...I like the way you coach and the proof of your ability to coach is seen in the excitement of your return to your old team this coming summer.
more blather. how do you call at least 3 denials 1 lie? how about the other 1/2 truths and lies that you don't know about yet? i agree on basketball parents possibly as the worst. i agree on Bellis leaving a big hole. he was probaly the top DOC. CC is a very good coach, may lack some organizational skills, but with some help would have done a fine job. how is everyone so sure cc wont be cc the new WSC DOC.
"CC is a very good coach, may lack some organizational skills, but with some help would have done a fine job."
Yep. Definitely lacks the organizational skills. I'm not going to go any farther. It would probably get deleted at that point..
If you are going to run a big Club like Wings you had better be a great trainer AND a great administrator.
That EXACT suggestion was made a longggggg time ago. Didn't listen then. Won't now. Oh well.
is part of the problem the fact that Wings is very much just a large cc, that is still parent driven in much of what it does? seriously, 17 members on the board of directors? No wonder they can't make a decision, or come up with a unified plan of action.
Manny will be a great addition to the Minnesota and Region 2 soccer communities. Welcome Manny!
Welcome aboard, Manny!
Why nothing on the Wings web site?
Wow. Nice hire on paper. It will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Wings and if the Wings board respect his experience and trust his advice.
nff: How about Manny's ethnicity?
Do you know if this Manny is english? Does he have any english connections?

Does he eat peanuts in the shell too?
Someone should email his kids Bangu tryout dates! ;) Kidding. Sounds like an impressive resume. Not sure why he would leave a state DOC for club DOC and move 1000 miles north. Although I have been to Tennessee a half dozen times and while the landscape is beautiful, the schools, in general, are poor, and the socio-economic conditions are nowhere near our great state! Either way, on paper, the Wings seemed to found a good replacement.
