  3. Will MTA and Shattuck have teams at State Cup??

    ReplyDelete
  4. No,not ECNL teams. MTA will still have some very strong teams though; U15 and U17.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Predictions for U13 & U14 age groups?

  8. 13- It will be between REV & MTA
14- PSA,Centennial & MTA are all in the same group. Tough draw.
15- Prior Lake is the state cup runner-up and premier league champs.
16- EP but don't count out the REV team.
17- MTA, Burnsville, EP are all very good teams.
    18- SSM or SCV

    ReplyDelete
  9. Rev at 15, that's funny! PL lost best player to ECNL. MTA has beefed up a lot. MTA 15 girls have beaten MTA 16 girls in numerous friendlies and have tied 17 MTA girls.

    15 Final 4
    PL, Cottage Grove, Tonka, MTA
Final MTA over PL, but it will be close!

    ReplyDelete
  10. with mta ecnl out...mta will find it difficult to post the same kind of dominence.

13- ? anything can happen at this age...many first timers
    14-Cen
    15-PL
    16-EP
    17-Burns

  11. 2:30...MTA at 16 & 17(really?)

    ReplyDelete
  12. No way MTA at 16! Not a good team!

    13's too early.
    14 - Centennial
    15 - Tonka
    16 - EP
    17 - Wayzata
    18 - SCV

  13. 3/8/12 10:41 AM, I think you answered the question wrong. The question that was posted by 3/8/12 10:39 AM was "Will MTA and Shattuck have teams at State Cup??", and the correct answer is YES. MTA will have teams in state cup. Not so sure about Shattuck, but I believe they will as well.

Now, MTA ECNL teams will NOT play in state cup, which you said correctly, but MTA will have teams in state cup.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 4:32pm - 10:41 did say that MTA will still have teams in State Cup, "MTA will STILL have some very strong teams THOUGH; U15 and U17. They just didn't spell it out for you! I understood what they were saying that MTA would have still have strong teams and they mentioned that 15 and 17's.
And no ECNL teams are not playing.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Shattuck doesn't have any teams playing ECNL, so I'm assuming that the the 17's and 18's will be at State Cup. Shattuck girls are a non-factor and they didn't do anything last year. Average at best this year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 3/8/12 4:59 PM - who cares! The main point, MTA will have teams in State Cup, which is what was asked.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Everyone is picking the logical choices, however, the dark horse in this year's State Cup is TC Fire. They have retooled and are playing very good competition this winter via out of state games and are playing MRL. They have a very winable bracket and could get hot.

    ReplyDelete
  18. For the 10:35 comment - I meant to say TC Fire for U15!

    ReplyDelete
  19. MN Soccer Junkie3/9/12, 10:57 AM

I agree with 10:35, the U15 TC Fire girls could really pick up their game and get hot. Don't count out Eden Prairie either at U15. They're a team that has developed nicely over the years and are poised to peak this year!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Don't forget about PSA & Rev for 14s. They are both quality teams and could make an impact too.

    ReplyDelete
  21. U-13 will be a REV/MTA final, no other team in MN will be able to catch them this year. Heard they tied in fall scrimmages. Saw one of the MTA teams play over the winter in dome play, small but skilled. REV could be caught by surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 10:57am. Seriously Eden Prairie at U15! That is almost laughable. It's going to be either Prior Lake or MTA. Way too stong of teams for EP to compete!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Rev has a strong team in that mix at 13s,14s,15s & 16s.

    Maybe 4 State Cup Championships?

    ReplyDelete
  24. 11:20 maybe Rev at 13's and 16's, but no other ages.

    ReplyDelete
  25. With no ECNL teams this is *hardly* a state championship anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 1:34, mta made the choice not partipate...and now you want to say its not a state championship. that is the statement of a loser!

the winner of the state cup will move on to regionals and represent MN in the same manor as those teams in the past.

    good luck to all!

    ReplyDelete
  27. So what if there aren't any ECNL teams in State Cup. There's still St. Croix, REV, Eden Prairie and some good MTA teams, etc. MN will be represented well in regionals. FYI, other states also do not have ECNL teams playing their state cups.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I believe that ECNL teams can participate in State Cup. Their schedules will make it hard for them to do so, but there are no laws writen stating they can not participate. Other states will have their ECNL team(s) playing in state cup.

    ReplyDelete
  29. ECNL teams are no longer eligible for State Cup effective this year.
This is the 1st year the ECNL will not allow it.
So State Cup, Regionals, USYSA Nationals for the girls are now watered down just as it is for the boys.
The best youth teams across the nation play in the US Development Academy and the ECNL.
It sucks for the US Club Soccer teams and the USYSA teams but it's what US Soccer says is the best for the development of the game in the USA.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 3/10/12 4:54 PM - Where is the documentation stating that ECNL teams are not allowed to play in state cup? Wasn't there suppose to be a vote? I would like to see it, if you have it or can point us to it. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sorry - I meant 3/11/12 5:39 PM - where is the information.

    ReplyDelete
  32. ECNL teams are playing in other states...

    ReplyDelete
  33. FROM ECNL Site:

Can ECNL teams participate in USYS leagues and the USYS state cup, regional, and national championships?
Yes. Any team participating in the ECNL may still participate in their local, state and regional leagues, and in the USYS state cup, regional, and national championships. The ECNL is not prohibiting teams from its member clubs from participating in these competitions.

MTA just choses not to have their ECNL teams play. Which means if MTA ECNL teams can't do anything in regionals, NO ONE else will be able to!

    ReplyDelete
  34. MTA cannot (or are choosing not to) play in state cup because ECNL nationals are the week of June 25th and Regional’s are that same week.

    ReplyDelete
  35. when will the pool play be posted?

seems quiet compared to years past?

    ReplyDelete
  36. While ECNL MTA teams may not participate in State Cup, the blue teams from MTA may in the future. There are many quality players at MTA that may choose not to do ECNL, and play another sport or just remain in the state to play soccer. Don't count out MTA in State Cups.

    ReplyDelete
  37. "Anybody wondering if maybe the MTA ECNL parents were the ones making all the posts??????"

No, but usually it is true.

    ReplyDelete
  38. MTA won't win one age group. REV will be the club that comes out on top with the most champions.

    ReplyDelete
  39. REV will be lucky to get to any finals. Most of their top players have moved to MTA or SCV.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Please define "MOST"...is that one or two players?

    ReplyDelete
  41. "Most" means almost all of them, like the "majority" of them. A bunch of them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Now, you just have to figure out how many top players they had, count out most of them or the majority of them or just simply a bunch of them and you will have your answer!

    ReplyDelete
  43. So based on 3/14 , 5:10 we should anticipate SCV and MTA winning a high percentage of the finals.

Doubt it...it looks to be a state cup that has many clubs having success at different ages. I predict no one club will win more than 2 ages...probably a different club at each level.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree with 9:06am, it's wide open this year!

    ReplyDelete
  45. 3/16/12 9:06 AM - No - that person just stated most of the higher level player moved to 2 different clubs. That person also stated REV would not win anything. He or she did NOT say anything about MTA or SCV winning a high percentage.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The good Rev players went to MTA ECNL teams and will not be at State Cup. MTA will still win a few titles on both boys and girls side. But without their DAP and ECNL teams they will not dominate like the past 7 or 8 years. I will predict MTA will win 5 title, SCV 3, PSA 2, BHK 2, MU 2...nobody else will win more than one.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Here are the facts. Three current u 14 players went to mta one was a good player but not a hard worker one was a starter but replaceable the third did not start or play much No other players left for mta or any other club their biggest loss is the player that tore her acl this winter.
One player left for St croix at 16 but she has since quit. Two 18 rev players went to St croix 17 to play their own age all rev teams 13-16 are better than last year even the 14 if healthy. They all added talent from the outside but no team added more talent than the 18s. But more important is that they have all trained 2-3 times a week and had a lot of full field scrimmages with very good results.

Does not mean they win a game but I like their chances in two months we will know.

In two months we will know what club has the most success at state cup my money will be on rev especially since all their teams have good draws as well

    ReplyDelete
  48. Rev won't win at 15!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Does anyone know if MTA is organized as a nonprofit or for profit company? I figured it was nonprofit but can't find it listed on the Attorney General's site.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It appears MTA is a non-profit organization according to Minnesota Secretary of State.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Why do you ask 9:11pm?

    ReplyDelete
  52. @1:19 Thanks rev mom who's daughter didn't make MTA. Clearly you need this blog for self affirmation to convince yourself and others that everything will be ok...which of course it will. This is just youth soccer.

    ReplyDelete
  53. So some believe that Rev will have a big year on the girls side. They won no title last year and made 1 final...hmmm. They probably do have decent chance at 16s, EDP and SCV both have good teams. I can't see any other good opportunities for Rev. But of course games aren't played on this blog, they are played on the field where anything can happen.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Rev - No
    MTA - NO
    SCV - No

The teams to watch out for are PSA! That's the club that will come out with the most champions!

    ReplyDelete
  55. If the draw allows for it these will be the championship games.

  58. Concerning 15's.

    A plays D and B plays C in semi's.

    Final Tonka vs MTA.

    ReplyDelete
  59. 9:30am said Tonka vs PL. 1:37pm said Tonka vs MTA. Maybe the same person, maybe not. Either way they like Tonka at 15!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Brackets are up!

    ReplyDelete
  61. 13 MTE vs REV
14 All premier teams in A and B and none in C or D which is too bad. Winner will come out of A - CNS.
    15 PL vs MTA
    16 DKT vs EDP
    17 MTA vs WYZ
    18 MTA vs SCV

    ReplyDelete
  62. Winners

    13 - MTE
    14 - CNS
    15 - TNK
    16 - EDP
    17 - WYZ
    18 - SCV

    ReplyDelete
  63. No disrespect to Minnetonka 15s but they were 4th in Premier League last season. Why the high expectations this spring?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wayzata finished in last place. Again, no disrespect intended. Edina wasn't Premier.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The Wayzata girls that made the Tonka team did not make the MTA team. Not to take anything away from them because they're good players. Edina, really? I don't see that Tonka got that much help for them to make a big difference at 15.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Tonka played this past weekend against the u16 Rev team and looked pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I predict EP will win the U19 championship.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Tough draw for the U17's, championship game basically being played on the first day.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Tough draw for 14's too!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Whoever said PL at U15 is overrated hasn't done their homework. Last year they were state cup runner up and went 7-1-2 winning the Premier league. They won the league going away. In fact, they lost their first league game and were undefeated in the next 9. They are the clear favorites until someone knocks them off. They are extremely well coached and will out work any team.

    ReplyDelete
  71. 10:29pm Thanks KO. But we lost one of our best players to MTA. The girls are overworked and extremely burned out. Time will tell though if they can be a success.

    ReplyDelete
  72. 10:40am Not what I heard, but ok if that what makes you feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Why so much interest in 15's?

    ReplyDelete
  74. 17's Wayzata, MTA, Rev, TCF? Didn't a bunch of girls leave the TCF premier team?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Who cares if Wayzata girls left for Tonka. Wayzata was relegated, so they couldn't have been that great!

    ReplyDelete
  76. 2:45 PM -- We do and notwithstanding the post of 10:29 PM, the league was pretty competitive without any team dominating.

    ReplyDelete
  77. This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Now back to soccer!

    13 MTA
    14 CNS
    15 REV
    16 EDP
    17 WYZ
    18 SCV

    ReplyDelete
  79. Final Four - Ages 13-17. Agree or disagree, but let's see if we can lead this blog back to a state cup discussion.

13's - DKT, MTE, MTE, MUS
14's - CNS, MUS, SCV, EAG
15's - PRL, CTG, MTN, TNK
16's - DKT, EDP, SCV, PSA
17's - MTE, WYZ, EDP, BVL

    ReplyDelete
  80. SCV 18's are a good team and won't be challenged much until regionals. Minnesota is viewed within the region as being very competitive at this age level, so hopefully they can be ready to make a deep push at regionals again. It doesn't look like they are playing MRL, so hopefully they will doing something more than just league to get prepared for regional competition.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Interesting info on the SVC 18's. They may not all have signed at D1 schools, but its a pretty impressive list overall. Can any club claim to have done better?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Maybe not as impressive as St Croix but still okay.

    http://www.dakotarev.org/page/show/462673-varsity-recognition

    ReplyDelete
  83. 12:35 - Thanks, I didn't realize Rev had so many as well. I find this very interesting as the only one who seems to get publicity for college signees is MTA. Seems likes there's a lot more out there ...

    ReplyDelete
  84. This is coming from an MTA parent. I'm happy that we're seeing so many girls from multiple clubs moving on to play college soccer. It shows that MN is making great strides in women's soccer.
    Congratulations to everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Well said 2:57 and I couldn't agree more!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anyone have any guess as to how many girls got D1 scholarships this year?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Is the answer all of them?

    ReplyDelete
  88. This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Ok back to State Cup. Really no one has any predictions, good or bad?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Burnsville is going to run away with the U17 title this year!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Maybe 3:25pm. I tend to lean towards MTA or WYZ.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I don't know if BV will "run away with it" but I would bet they win it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Prior Lake is going to run away with every age group they play!

    ReplyDelete
  94. 13-Rev- Very talented group in this age. Might be the best REV team to ever play at 13.
    Finalist-MTA

14-Rev- Strong C1 team. They just missed out on premiere last season but are playing quality soccer. Impressed against MTA ECNL.
    Finalist-PSA

15-PRL- I heard that they lost a couple of their best players but they are still the favorites to win.
    Finalist-REV

16-Rev- This team is loaded! They also have a quality coach.
    Finalist-EP

17-BV- Best player in the state plays on this team. She is tough to stop.
    Finalist-Way or EP

18-Scv- With MTA out of the way, they should take it down.
    Finalist- Eagan

    ReplyDelete
  95. 4:05pm Clearing a REV parent?

    13 - Agree
14 - CNS - REV might make it to semi's
    15 - PRL or MTA - REV doesn't have a chance and won't make the semi's
    16 - Agree
    17 - WYZ or EP
    18 SCV

    ReplyDelete
  96. Is there anything preventing a MTA ECNL player from joining one of these teams in State Cup? If not, I know of at least one U17 player who will plans to play with SCV.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Nothing prevents players from dual rostering on a US Club (ECNL) team and a USYSA team (State Cup). As long as they were registered in time and appear on the roster they are eligible.

    ReplyDelete
  98. MTA ECNL does roster players from other clubs. There's no rules against that. Those players will go back to their club to play State Cup. It's not just one girl, it's a few girls at all age levels. Nothing illegal about it and remember ECNL teams can play in their State Cups. MTA just chooses not to.

    ReplyDelete
  99. MTA choses not to because of the schedule conflict.

    ReplyDelete
  100. chose or chooses

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hath chosen

    ReplyDelete
  102. Chose and chooses. Hath chosen works as well!

    ReplyDelete
  103. MTA's ECNL teams hath chosen nay to partake in said state cup geflit

    ReplyDelete
  104. Tough weekend for Minnesota teams in Vegas this past weekend, looks like we went 10-27-3 for the ten MN teams there. No teams emerging as state cup favorites based on results.

Next big pre-state checkpoints will be the MRL and OH/Indy events in April.

    ReplyDelete
  105. It's hard to determine "State Cup favorites" when they play out of state teams? And in most cases teams they've never played before. Same can be said for MRL an OH/Indy. Although some age brackets at MRL do have multiple MN teams so maybe something will come out of that?
There's about 3-4 favorites in every age group at State Cup and any team could come out on top! Alot will depend on injuries, who's "on" that day, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  106. For sure it's much more wide open than its ever been now that the ECNL teams aren't participating.

    ReplyDelete
  107. A "state cup favorite" would be a team that can go outside of the state and win consistently, with the goal to win state cup decisively to get ready for regionals, make a deep run at regionals and go to the national tournament. The goal is much bigger than just winning state cup.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Well no MN team goes outside of the state and win consistently. So are you saying that winning state cup doesn't really matter in the end and why bother if MN teams can't win outside of the state.

    ReplyDelete
  109. You can't expect to go to CA and win consistently when they play outside/full field all year. We are just coming out from all winter indoors. That is a factor. MN teams do better when they go to CA later in our season.

    ReplyDelete
  110. The one MTA girls team won more than they lost in the Las Vegas event...just saying!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Not seeing many MN teams that did really well. MTA 16's played in a lower bracket and won 2 games. That's the same team that was relegated this past year. The only reason they're premier is because they took the ECNL teams premier spot. MTA 16's won't do anything and will most likely be on the bottom of the standings come July.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Mta 14s lost three

    ReplyDelete
  113. Las Vegas,

Wayzata, EP, Lakeville 17's all had NO wins.

    16's PSA won 3 games! MTA & REV - 2 wins, EP - 1 win.

15's Tonka and Prior Lake 1 win each.

    14's MTA - NO wins

    ReplyDelete
  114. State Cup Winners

    13's MTA
    14's Centennial
    15's Tonka
    16's REV
    17's Burnsville

    ReplyDelete
  115. Whats with the PSA 16 team?

    ReplyDelete
  116. PSA is emerging as a fairly competetive club. They've slowly taken kids from the west side (MTA, old Wings players) that don't want to pay all that MTA money and drive to all parts of the Twin Cities for training. They have premier teams on the girls side at 14, 16 and 17. Many of the girls came from MTA!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Exactly 6:04pm! Besides ECNL teams couldn't win at regions, no one else will be able to!

    ReplyDelete
  118. On the PSA PR16's - the core has been PSA for several years. They added a few girls who played Edina premier last year.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Lots of Rev boosters . 16's are only team with a chance.
13's are a mess ,very talented but half the team is shopping for next year.
    14's good but not dominant.
15's not close to pl or tonka
16's strong team but EP and MTA second team (Blue) very strong too
    17's REV out
18's Rev 1 is good but st Croix is team to beat.

    ReplyDelete

  121. 13 REV
    14 PSA
    15 PL
    16 REV
    17 St Croix
    18 SSM

    ReplyDelete
  122. 13 - Rev, but MTA could win this.
14 - Centennial, MUS could surprise
15 - PL overrated, Tonka will surprise.
16 - EP, but REV could make a run
17 - Burnsville, but MTA could surprise
    18 - SSM

    ReplyDelete
  123. Not sure how PL can be called "overrated" since they are the state cup runner up and Premier league champion? Other than the top MTA team they have won more games than anyone else in the u15 age group.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Prior Lake is overrated. They lost their best player and can't function without her. PL got lucky last year due to other teams with numerous injuries.
    U15 Premier Standings for this year;
Tonka, MTA, Prior Lake, Rev, Cottage Grove, NSS

  126. Why isn't anyone picking MTA for u15?

    ReplyDelete
  127. Pl lost their best player to MTA.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yes, we (PL) did lose ONE of our better players to MTA, but were still very strong.

    ReplyDelete
  129. PL is a very good, balanced TEAM. To think any one of the players was head and shoulders above the others shows a definite lack of knowledge of the team.

  131. 11:03pm. How would you define balanced? Because I really don't see that from our team, unfair yes. I don't think players should have to be afraid of every step they make. That's not building a balanced team! That's building a team that will fall apart!

  132. 15 State Cup Finalist

Rev will beat PL and Tonka will beat MTA in semi's.

REV vs Tonka - Champ Tonka!

    You heard it here first!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Rev might not make it out of pool play at 15's. Tonka looks to be a good contender, along with PL and MTA. My guess is tonka

    ReplyDelete
  134. why the silence out there?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Ok, I'll say something.

Here's my take on the girls side. Agree or disagree?

    13's MTA - don't know too much about 13's
14's PSA - This could go to CNS
15's MTA - Very improved team from last year
    16's EP - could go REV's way
17's BSVL - MTA might make a run
    18's SCV

  137. What about PSA 16's? They did well in Vegas (better than EP, REV and MTA). PSA and MTA had six goals for during the tournament. EP and REV only managed 3 and 2 goals for, yet are favorites? This age looks wide open, and dont count out SCV.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I'll give you PSA at 16's. They do have a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  139. EP played very good teams in Vegas.

Rumor has it that MTA and REV where short players due to injuries.

PSA had a good tournament and beat some high ranked teams congrats to them.

16 should be a fun age group to follow with 5 teams in the mix.

The team that stays healthy and is able to play well when it matters will come out on top.

  142. Back to the Las Vegas tournament for a second, how does anyone know the top flights and the bottom flights (A and B flights)? Are you guessing because of the way the schedules are laid out on the web page? It looks to be alphabetical to me. And if that was the case, MTA and Rev are closer to the top – so does that mean they played higher ranked or better teams? Just wondering how people are coming to the conclusions. I am also asking based on what 3/27/12 10:15 PM posted.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Las Vegas is done or go over to the Girls Club news tab and rehash. This string is about MN State Cup.

    ReplyDelete
  144. there is no A or B flights in that showcase. look at any bracket and there were quality teams.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Look at the flights and the ranking of the teams. The brackets listed first had higher ranked teams in their state, region and national. The brackets further down had lower ranked teams in their state, region and national. But the GotSoccer rankings are a whole other "can of worms!"

    ReplyDelete
  146. Hate to dwell in this, but 2:44 your wrong. The #1 teams from UT,NV and OR were in the fourth bracket. Dont try to figure it out or even justify it...Good teams were playing in every bracket. Other than the first bracket which had a few elite teams (top 10 nat'l) the tourn people tried to spread out the competition.

    Now back to state cup.....

  150. I don't care! I'm just happy MN teams played well in Vegas! I want to talk about State Cup, not some tournament in Las Vegas. Go to the Girls Club tab.

    Now back to State Cup.......

    ReplyDelete
  151. LOL! 4/4/12 12:38 PM here, sorry, I didn't mean to stir up such a fuss. I was just curious. OK, back to state cup.

I have noticed that no one has mentioned Cottage Grove or TC Fire. Cottage Grove was one of the last 4 teams in the state cup semi finals for U14 (current U15 this year). 2 MTA teams, PL and CG.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Always a few laughs on here.

I'm guessing that the 15 semi's will be: PL, Cottage Grove, MTA and Tonka.

Cottage Grove lost top scorer to MTA ECNL, but my understanding is that they did gain some TC Fire girls? So they could still be strong this year.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Here's a good question:

If MTA does not win any state cups this year, does anyone think they may bring back all of their ECNL teams next year to compete?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Not sure? But, no worries, they'll win at 13, 15 and 17.

    ReplyDelete
  155. 2:08, You are silly.

    ReplyDelete
  156. 3:16, You are such a bully.

    ReplyDelete
  157. 2:08pm Here. I don't care if 3:16pm thinks I'm silly. And I don't think they're a bully. Maybe I'm silly or maybe I'm completely off my rocker, but MTA will win 13, 15 and 17.

    ReplyDelete
  158. 3:50, you are correct. It appeared as if I was being a bully. I should have said that I think their position/belief (that MTA will win 13, 15, and 17) is silly-thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  159. MTA will win 13 & 15, not sure about 17. You can take that to the bank!

    ReplyDelete
  160. MTA 13, 15 and 17 will not win. Anyone who thinks otherwise, knows nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  161. So 9:42am enlighten us with who you do think will win those age groups?

    ReplyDelete
  162. 9:42am. I respect your opinion, but I'm curious who do you think will win those age groups and why.

    Here's my reason why I think MTA will win 15 & 17.

15 MTA - semi's last year, lost to PL 2-1. The team is stronger tha they've ever been. Played their ECNL team to a 0-0 game for most of the game, but lost 1-0 late in the game when SB powered one in.

17 MTA - picked up a few players from the TCF team that went to semi's last year. Also stronger than they've ever been.

    ReplyDelete
  163. What do you know 9:42am?

    ReplyDelete
  164. 13 mta or rev
    14 psa, mu or centennial
15 pl tonka mta or rev
16 St croix psa rev or ep
17 mta wayzatta Burnsville or St
    18 ssm

    ReplyDelete
  165. the coaches from mta ecnl teams don't care about state cup. They will not come back until girls stop showing up at tryouts. Until then they could care less (and this is from a mta parent!)

    ReplyDelete
  166. MYSA changed around the U15 state cup brackets. Now, A plays D and B plays C for semi finals.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Why the change? How are they determined anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  168. MYSA did change the U15 semi's around, but they were wrong before. Look at years past - A winner plays D winner and B plays C.

Besides, top seed is in A, 2nd seed in B, 3rd seed in C and than there was D (no seed, draw only). Shouldn't A play D and B play C?

So it will be PL (A) vs Tonka (D)
Cottage Grove (B) vs MTA (C).
    Final - PL vs MTA
Winner - MTA in a close one

    ReplyDelete
  169. Doesn't matter who Tonka plays in semi's. They'll beat everyone to win it all.

    ReplyDelete
  170. 18 scrimmage last night ssm 1 St. Croix 0

    ReplyDelete
  171. The dark horse at u15 that no one talks about is NSSA. They are quietly waiting in the weeds ...

    ReplyDelete
  172. Big break for MTA. PL and Tonka will beat each other up in the Semi's.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Not taking anything away from NSSA, but I don't think they have a snowball's chance in hell. It's great that they moved up to the premier league, but now they're playing much bigger, stronger and faster teams than they played at C1 in the north league.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Are you assuming 10:02am that MTA will make semi's?

    ReplyDelete
  175. 10:09 - yes, MTA will make the semi's.

    ReplyDelete
  176. MTA 15's will make the finals.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Don't put any stock in the SSM/SCV scrimmage. SCV was missing 4 key players.

    ReplyDelete
  178. NSSA U15 scrimmaged Dakota Alliance U15 in Sioux Falls about 10 days ago. Anyone know the score?

    ReplyDelete
  179. MTA 15s will not win. Too much hype on this blog from parents who wish their kids were on the ECNL team.

    ReplyDelete
  180. 10:08 AM I choose to tell you who will not win

    ReplyDelete
  181. "NSSA U15 scrimmaged Dakota Alliance U15 in Sioux Falls about 10 days ago. Anyone know the score"?

I don't know but I'm sure one or both of them were "missing players".

    ReplyDelete
  182. ECNL is not for everyone. People do chose not to play ECNL?

    ReplyDelete
  183. Here's my prediction on how U17's will go down:

    Bracket A Winner: TCF
    Bracket A Runnerup: EDP

    Bracket B Winner: WYZ
    Bracket B Runnerup: BVL

Semi #1 (TCF vs. BVL): TCF
Semi #2 (WYZ vs. EDP): WYZ

    Final (TCF vs. WYZ): TCF

SCV could be a dark horse in the B bracket though, we'll see how they fair in MRL and maybe I'll change my picks. Nice to see so many of these teams playing MRL, makes for a better state cup tournament instead of coming in cold.

    ReplyDelete
  184. TCF lost too many players to make it out of bracket play.

    ReplyDelete
  185. TCF is still looking for players for their U17 premier according to the player exchange on the MYSA website.

    ReplyDelete
  186. TCF is still looking for players for their U17 premier according to the player exchange on the MYSA website.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Tonka 15s will struggle unless they make some position changes. They have their best play makers playing defense when they should be playing in the mid or attack.

    ReplyDelete
  188. That strategy can work well. Defend (pack the box) and get one or two break - a - ways.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Thanks 6:24 who must be the Dad of the Tonka player on denfense who should be playing forward?

    ReplyDelete
  190. I love it -- do parents really think that by venting on a blog they will get their way? Try talking to your kid's coach about it, that just might be a bit more effective and enlightening for you! But, good luck with it, I'm sure your coach is an avid reader of this blog and will adjust his/her system as soon as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  191. TC Fire will not win U-17. Burnsville will win this age group. They are IMO clearly the best team at U-17 now that MTA ECNL is not in the mix.

    ReplyDelete
  192. 6:24pm. That might be all you need to get by PL in the semi's. Not alot of offense on the PL side.

    ReplyDelete
  193. 9:49 PM -- why do you assume that?

    ReplyDelete
  194. 13's REV
    14's CNS
    15's MTA
    16's EDP
    17's BVL
    18's SCV

    That's my winners!

    ReplyDelete
  195. For the 15's don't under estimate anyone it could very well be and of the 5 most talented teams who are very well matched. It could either be MTA, PL, Tonka, Rev, or Cottage Grove. With out the ECNL MTA's this year it's anyones game.

    ReplyDelete
  196. Agree 9:19pm, but REV is a long shot up against the other four teams.

    ReplyDelete
  197. REV beat PL last year and beat Cottage Grove this winter not sure if they have played MTA and or Tonka.

More importantly they added numerous quality players at tryouts and have been going three times a week all winter and they have a very good coach.

Guess I like the long shot to at least be in the semi =)

    ReplyDelete
  198. When did REV beat PL last year? And yes they did beat CG this winter, but CG was playing without a goalie. Still, I would give them chance.

    ReplyDelete
  199. REV beat PL in the Championship game of the Walmart Cup. They also beat a very good TC Fire team twice last year.

    ReplyDelete
  200. 9:47,

Everyone knows REV only has a couple quality coaches and HE is not one of them.
