  9. solid assessment 10:35

    ReplyDelete
  10. Solid Assessment, I think not, Lakeville North has played no one of distinction and won't until October. They won't see the top 10. Completely unproven.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Centennial won't play anyone except Anoka until State, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a high ranking.

Agreed that LV North doesn't play anyone until the back half of their schedule (they won't have to wait until October). However, they are loaded with talent and experience.
They will challenge for the SSC title with Eagan, Eastview, Jefferson, and Burnsville.

  12. Woodbury v East Ridge

    Tonka v Anoka

    predictions?

    ReplyDelete
  13. 10:35, don't think Wayzata is a #1 this year (or even a top 4), would have to say Eagan #1 right now but still expect Woodbury to rebound by the end of the season (as long as they don't loose to East Ridge today which would result in a total meltdown for the remainder of the season). Stilwater also still deserves a top 10.

    Top 4 teams:
    Eagan
    Woodbury
    Edina
    Mahtomedi

    ReplyDelete
  14. Today's AA upset predictions:

Woodbury v East Ridge: East Ridge 2-1

    Tonka v Anoka: Anoka 2-0

    Edina v Jefferson: Jefferson 2-1

    ReplyDelete
  15. East Ridge wins 2-1

    Tonka and Anoka tie 2-2

    ReplyDelete
  16. I hope you are having fun with your guesses.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am, thank you. And your uber insightful predictions are?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Class A? Benilde and Blake....anybody else?

    ReplyDelete
  19. My predictions, high school soccer is a joke. Yes, it's fun to play for your high school. Teams usually have a couple of standout girls surrounded by C2 and C3 players. Games are laughable!

    ReplyDelete
  20. You are the joke 11:05!

Teams at the club level also usually have a couple of standout girls. Is the game just for the standout girls?

    ReplyDelete
  21. So you are on this blog why 11:05?

You can't make it up. Same conversations every year on this blog.

EP team from last year was a joke? The Woodbury team the year before that? The Lakeville South team a few years earlier?

Yes the overall level of play is not great. But for some of the girls it is a chance to play with friends who they have not played with since they were 11 or 12.

Lighten up and enjoy the games! It won't be long and you will be watching as an empty nester fan.

    ReplyDelete
  22. What club level are you talking about, C2, C3? ECNL, Premier have more than a couple of standouts on the team. Seriously have you really watched HS soccer versus a top level club team. No way you can compare. Still HS is fun to play for the kids because they get to play with their friends.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It is somewhat a joke, but I have fun. I just hope I can make it through the season without getting hurt. You have some oversized C3 player hacking away at the ball or pushing you in the back because they don't know how to play fairly or handle the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 11:05...Nice job stirring the pot.

I would guess the high school teams which have a successful season have ALL C1 /Premier caliber players. The reason for the different style of play is the length of the season (2 months) compared to club soccer (9-10 months). Also, they typically field kids from different ages...U16, U17 and U18 players.

If you think it's a joke don't watch it or participate on this blog. The fact your here means you have an axe to grind and are bitter for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Stirring is fun!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree with 11:05am!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Check out the HS Boys blog, they're talking about how far boys HS soccer has fallen.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Since HS soccer is such a joke and beneath your elite soccer presence, you probably won't be going to the game against Woodbury tonight then Raptorgirl?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Raptors 3-0 over Woodbury!

    ReplyDelete
  30. My kid plays for a pretty loaded high school team. He (yes, a boy) plays club ball to push himself to be the best player possible and to get looks from colleges, and he plays high school ball for pride. He's the first one to say high school ball isn't very good, but I've never seen him as proud as he was holding the State third-place trophy at the Dome last fall.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Agreed with 4:18pm. It is fun to play high school soccer and it's even more fun to make it to state. But you have to admit, it's not the same caliber of play that you see on the higher level club teams? You did say in your first sentence, it's a loaded team. I assume it's a loaded team with players from higher levels of club play?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Edina over Bloomington Jefferson 4-2

    ReplyDelete
  33. so much for the upsets -

    Edina wins
    Tonka wins
    Woodbury wins

Mahtomedi losing to South St Paul is a shocker

    ReplyDelete
  34. No big shocker! Mahtomedi hadn't played anyone that was too good up to that point. White Bear Lake was overrated!

    ReplyDelete
  35. yes 8:48, maybe 4-5 non-Premier/MRL players on a 20-person roster.

    ReplyDelete
  36. is it me, or was our back four absolutely horrible tonight against Costa Rica? They played with the precision and cohesion of a U13 C3 team.

    ReplyDelete
  37. or a good majority of high school teams!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nice clips of the Blaine players:

  45. Burnsville got beat by Rosemount 3-2. So much for moving up to #5...

    ReplyDelete
  46. ep and way tie
    edina and hopkins tie

    pretty even this year

    ReplyDelete
  47. EP-Wayzata tie 0-0 after OT; well played with chances on both ends, fun game to watch between two strong rivals.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Eagan at top of rankings? Why Eagan?

    ReplyDelete
  49. why not eagan? good team, alot of return players, only couple losses last year and 5-0 this year. Make a case for a team better.

    ReplyDelete
  50. EV escaped LS last night 1-0. EV goes so hard and are fast all over the field. LS controlled pace of game in 2nd half could not finish

    ReplyDelete
  51. Eagan and Eastview will be a big game on Sep 15th. Eastview has the edge with field play but Eagan's keeper balances the scales.

    ReplyDelete
  52. how about lakeville north and rosemount tomorrow...can the irish play the spoiler again? (or was burnsville over rated) will north continue to roll through the competition?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Lakeville North's party will continue until 9/13 when it will come to a sudden end against Prior Lake; they'll be lucky to win 50% of their games after then in their schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  54. in all fairness, LVN has not played a real quality opponenet, while eagan did beat woodbury 2-0. Rumor is EP may be down anyone know?

    ReplyDelete
  55. no luv for Park....6-0 deserves a mention.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Stillwater vs. Moundsview tomorrow should be an interesting re-match. Let's see if the Moundsview coach can manage to put one more player back on defense for a total of seven to prevent a goal. Ugliest soccer I have ever witnessed at the HS level last year by Moundsview. Perhaps the coach has a chip on her shoulder? Let's see some courage and play for a win instead of a boring 0 to 0 match for once.

    ReplyDelete
  57. who has park played?

    ReplyDelete
  58. mv 2
    still 1

    wood 3
    park 0

    hopkins 1
    ep 1

    rose 2
    lvn 0

    lvs 1
    eagan 1

    ReplyDelete
  59. egan will be tough to beat in playoffs. best goalie i have seen play. where is she playing in college?

    ReplyDelete
  60. if the eagan goalie is as good as 8:41 claims...i would then change the prediction of 7:57. LVS wont score and Eagan wins 1-0!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I would guess EP is down because Taylor Uhl plays for Gophers now

    ReplyDelete
  62. ep has a very strong club program with alot of premier players...doubt its cause of turnover. maybe the other teams are catching up talent wise?

    ReplyDelete
  63. ep club's best player plays for Stillwater.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  65. LS beats eagan 1-0 tonight. LS dominates first half, eagan the 2nd. SSC up for grabs, six teams could win, eagan, EV, LN, LS, BV, jeff and Prior Lake.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I heard EP coach took loads of underclassmen to play for the future and cut kids that played on last years team.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think the younger players were better players probably.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Too bad more coaches don't cut the upperclassman and play the more talented young kids. Booster club politics might play a big part, atleast in our school! The seniors are laughable at best, but they start!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Lakeville North wins 7th game in a row.

    They are #1 now IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  70. who has LN played?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Who cares!

    ReplyDelete
  72. if you play the school for the blond and are 7-0 it makes a difference.

    ReplyDelete
  73. LN will make it to state. That is about it!

    ReplyDelete
  74. What does being blond have to do with anything? This IS Minnesota.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Everyone should pretty much by now understand that these blogs are dominated by Dakota Rev and MTA folks by a wide margin. So whenever you see pimping of teams like Eastview, Rosemount (rev kids) or even Lakeville North (with a top Rev club coach), understand where it all comes from. Mind you, good for them as they have success and earned the right to brag. But although 'anonymous' is the name, you get the drift.

    ReplyDelete
  76. In Class A....Rogers (last year's champion) is in AA now (as is Mahtomedi)...so is the favorite Benilde St. Margaret? How is Orono this year? Blake? Any others?

*oh and to pre-empt the 'it is only Class A high school soccer'...I get that, but my daughter plays for a Class A school outside of the metro area and loves her experience. Just curious about who the competitive teams are in that class. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  77. For sure.....it's all about one's soccer club allegiance. One big conspiracy to dominate the world of futbol.

Sheesh! Lighten up- enjoy the games, the chatter, watching your daughter play with her friends and the parent/player prognosticating. In a few weeks it will be done and you can go back to lobbing rounds over the bow of your rival club.

    ReplyDelete
  78. You have the class A teams pegged. I would throw SPA into the mix.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Good games tomorrow!

    #3 Edina vs. #6 Woodbury
    #4 Centennial vs. Mounds View
    #2 (A) Blake vs. #10 LV North
    #9 Stillwater vs. Mahtomedi
    Eastview vs.Duluth East

    picks anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Lots of good games this weekend in the AA, expect a major shakeup in this next week's top ten rankings. Here’s my guess on how things will look:

#1 Mahtomedi will be our new #1 at 7-0-0 with a win over Stillwater on Sat
#2 Lakeville North will shoot up to #2 with whipping of 1A Blake on Sat
#3 Wayzata continues to ride their soft early schedule, could make a case for a #1 ranking for the week but probably won’t last long as their tough Lake Conference schedule kicks in
#4 Edina will make it three ties this week with a tie against Woodbury on Sat; undefeated record but maybe should drop even further though given the two ties against to NR teams this week
#5 Woodbury will tie Edina on Sat (game of the week) in a tough defensive battle, but personally would like to see Woodbury get the W and then have a very real possibility of running the table for the rest of the year back to #1
#6 Eagan maybe not dropping this far back with their loss as Lakeville South is a decent team, but would not put them above Woodbury even given the head-to-head win. Eagan-Woodbury will be the state championship game anyhow.
#7 Centennial dropping back predicting a loss to Mounds View on Sat
#8 Eden Prairie even with a win on Sat over Armstrong, the two ties this week will hurt
#9 Eastview will get added into the mix if they can win against Duluth East
#10 Minnetonka also gets added with their perfect record, but not tested enough to go any higher yet until they can prove themselves in conference play
Out - Burnsville based on their loss to NR Rosemount this week
Out – Stillwater predicting a loss on Sat to Mahtomedi coupled with their tie of Mounds View earlier in the week

How's that for some bold picks! Expect wild shifts in the AA rankings for the next couple of weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't follow the logic for SW to be out based on a tie to an unranked team (BV as well for loss to unranked team) but Eagan stays in with a loss to an unranked team.

    ReplyDelete
  82. really, mahtomedi, they lost 5-0 to south st paul!!!!!! they don't even deserve to be in the top 10. woodbury got there stuff handled by eagan, no way they should be ahead of eagan.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I haven't followed HS girls soccer in MN for long but it seems this year is the most wide open in a long time. You have no real powerhouse, no clear favorite and a wide open field. Should make for a volatile but exciting top 10 and for some good sectional tournaments and overall state (especially 2A)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Stillwater is a top 10 team...barely. they will beat MAH. Woodbury is overrated.

    ReplyDelete
  85. agreed woodbury living off history

    ReplyDelete
  86. Woodbury has about 5 D1 recruits on their squad. That's pretty recent history in my book!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Agreed. Woodbury is still the team to beat this year...they beat Edina by 2 today.

    ReplyDelete
  88. They're not D1 recruits because of where they play for high school! They're D1 recruits because of their club!
Granted having 5 good club players will make any high school look good!

    ReplyDelete
  89. how can you not even give lvs a mention when they beat eagan who man handled woodbury! and mahtomedi? they lost to an average single A school. What about eastview? or even park, they are looking good. and woodbury does not have 5 D1 recruits on its current roster maybe 4 years ago but not now.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I think the original MAH and SSP score was posted wrong. It now shows them beating SSP 2-1. Anyone know for sure?

    ReplyDelete
  91. creighton, creighton, louisville, uw milwaukee, undecided

    ReplyDelete
  92. 9:33 - Woodbury already played and won? What are you talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  93. I think that is a prediction?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Where are you people getting your information from? MAH beat SSP - look at the MHSL Web site.

    ReplyDelete
  95. 2:56
    Lakeville North whipping Blake?
    2-1 is whipping?
Blake is constantly dismissed as a nice 1A team and yet they keep performing well against a very tough schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Any updates on the Mahtomedi-Stillwater game?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Stillwater lost, 1 to 0.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Which website has weekly state rankings?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Mounds View ties Centennial. Any other scores to report?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Eden Prairie beat Armstrong 3-1. Armstrong was up 1-0 until mid-way through the 2nd half and than EP wore them down and scored a goal and added 2 more off of corners.

Maybe they aren't as great as you thought. I don't mean that to be derogatory toward them at all. Sometimes players in all sports are evaluated differently be different people.
Maybe Edina is loaded with "great" players.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Maybe Edina is loaded. Just know players I have heard of. Cannot wait to play you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Should be a nice shakeup in the top 10 this week. Eastview and Lakeville should be the big movers up

    ReplyDelete
  110. Honsetly the top 10 doesn't mean that much this season. There are no elite teams this year. Any team that gets hot in the playoffs could walk away with the title this season.

  113. Do they not count ties? Seeems like a tie is like a win based on the standings. Aggreed...It should not hurt a team like a loss, but the fact cannot be over looked ...EDINA FAILED to beat Anoka and Hopkins, yet are somehow ranked 2?

    ReplyDelete
  114. big rivalry games in the west and south suburbs on thursday this week

  115. Preview of this week’s AA matchups, should see some minor upsets and continued jostling in the top 10 rankings. Didn’t do too bad in my last week picks, so let’s see how these do:

#1 Wayzata – this is last time they will see #1 this year, too young of a team to hold on to this. Tough Lake Conference schedule kicks in matching up against Edina and Minnetonka later in the week. A good week would be for them to go W-L-T, forecasting they drop to #5 in next week’s poll.
#2 Edina – conference match-ups against EP and Wayzata, predict one of the two will bunker in on defense to get the draw. Predict they will go W-T and drop to #3 in next week’s poll.
#3 Mahtomedi – easy week for two wins. Should have been the #1 this week, but they will for sure be the #1 in next week’s poll unless Edina can come up with a solid week.
#4 Centennial – at first glance should be an easy week for them, but last week’s results show word might be out on how to stop this team and could see them getting blanked 0-0 against Maple Grove on Tues, ending up T-W-W and dropping down to #7 in next week’s poll.
#5 Lakeville North – this week should start to tell us if this team is the real deal. I see them struggling on Tues against a Prior Lake team who looks like they can play D, and then being outmuscled on Thurs against cross-town rival Lakeville South. T-L-W for the week, but staying at #4 based on record.
#6 Eastview – similarly a chance to see the quality of this team. Jefferson might surprise on Tues, but Eagan will prove too much on Thurs and sleeper East Ridge will likely surprise on Sat. Predicting W-L-T but hold on to #6 ranking.
#7 Eagan – overly harsh drop this week, these guys won’t lose for the rest of the regular season if they can win in the game of the week on Thurs against Eastview. 4 wins for the week will get them back to the #2 position.
#8 Eden Prairie – tough week coming for the Eagles. Best case scenario is two draws, will drop out of next week’s top 10.
#9 Woodbury – should be two layups and a little bit of needed rest & refocusing. W-W to move up one spot to #8.
#10 Minnetonka – a legit top 10, but probably the toughest schedule of anyone this week. Guessing W-L-T for the week to move up one notch to #9.
NR Burnsville – will bounce back to #10 going W-W-W for the week, but I can already see them falling out again the following week (very tough end of year schedule)
NR Stillwater – still have a chance to claw back into the top 10, but sleeper East Ridge could get in the way if they have the big week I am suspecting they will have.
NR East Ridge – the team to watch this week, make or break-it week for them. Will get in if they can take down Stillwater, Moundsview and Eastview. See them going W-W-T to just miss out on getting in, but three wins is not out of the question.
NR Lakeville South – another sleeper, if they can take both Burnsville and Lakeville South they would take the #10 spot instead of Burnsville.

BTW 10:53, disagree with you, the poor section loading means most of these teams get stripped out before the state tourney so just like pre-BCS the polling is the closest you can get to a true picture of status. Also makes the season a lot more fun to follow when it is this wide open.

  116. 9:25...you need a moniker...way too much time to submit as anonymous.

Wow, but a few questions? Centennial draws Maple Grove and they stay, Maple Grove not a string side. if LVS goes 2-0 they should be top 5, if LVN goes 2-0 they should be top three. Woodbury with two losses should be out of the loop. WHere is Park in the mix?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Are the rankings up top official or predictions?

Where do I find official rankings?

  121. OK, I've found a moniker that I think works for me, thanks for the suggestion 9:45am. You can track my progress and also call me on it if my analysis ever comes off as negative or derogatory (which I do not intend at all, just trying to spur some conversation on what I think is a very entertaining season this year).
I’ll repost my prior analysis for the week, with my LS typo corrected.

NR Lakeville South – another sleeper, if they can take both Burnsville and Lakeville North they would take the #10 spot instead of Burnsville.

  122. 11:10am, yes I went a bit out on a limb with my Centenntial-Maple Grove call, but I'll stick by it for now. MG has a good tactical coach, this is what I think this game will come down to stifle Centennial's offense for the draw. Haven’t yet seen Centennial play yet this year, but based on the low scoring ties last week to Osseo and Mounds View, I suspect there were some tactical moves made by the opposition’s defense (or are missing some key players, maybe someone can comment).

Tough for LVS to jump into the top 5 right away given the loss to Eastview, but I am pulling for them as I always love a spoiler.

Agree that LVN should move up if they can get all 3 wins this week, but my gut tells me either Prior Lake and/or LVS will get in the way of this.

Gotta cut Woodbury some slack as both losses were to top ranked teams, strength of schedule still comes into play on the polling. I don't beleive they are out of the hunt by any stretch (I'm still sticking by my early prediction that Woodbury-Eagan will be the state final game).

Good call on Park, I’ll add them to my watch list, looks like they played Woodbury tough. Couldn’t tell much from their early schedule and looks like it will be another week before they drop into the meat of their schedule.

Mahtomedi shoots up the rankings the rest of the regular season but does not win their section- not able to get by both Woodbury and East Ridge.

Burnsville hangs just outside the rankings but upsets Edina and EP in section play.

Eagan and Eastview split- one wins the conference the other the section.

    Tonka's year in section 6.

  125. I can comment on Centennial, since someone asked. A senior defender is just coming back from an ACL from basketball season, a starter had an ACL injury against FL, and another starter is out for a week with a concussion, and two other players are out for 2 weeks other reasons, one of which is a starter. The first games were on their home field - grass, and Osseo and MV are turf, which is an adjustment. Having said that, Osseo and MV are very physical teams and played that way. Multiple yellow cards both games. Centennial struggled with the physical play and had a difficult time offensively. It is a very young team with only 2-3 seniors starting. There is an 8th grader who will be a player to watch in the future. Great field vision and speed.

  135. Lots of HS parity now. I don't see any teams like the old LVS team (Stars), WDBY (Inferno) or EPHS (United) currently out there or on the horizon. No complaints.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Those teams each had a group of girls who played together at a young age that became the core of an elite club team. No teams in that mold that I am aware of coming up. MTA teams draw from across the metro from a young age so you don't get the core out of a single district. SCV, EP, and REV all draw outside their respective school boundaries too.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Well Eastview is basically the u16 Rev Premier team and although that team seems to win everything but state cup that could be a good future team. I agree though that parity is the word. Seems like the best players on most teams are underclassmen so perhaps this is just a transition year

    ReplyDelete
  138. The current senior class is strong overall in our state but dispersed across the metro and not any real headliners. Junior class not as deep but some stars- JR, SK, KS. Sophomores another deep class that resembles the seniors.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Class A...Blake must be the favorite...a real good showing against Lakeveille North. I cannot see anyone in Class A beating them this year.

    ReplyDelete
  140. 12;01...get your facts, maybe a couple soph, but they have stong sr and jr. ev didn't bring their best and jefferson came to play.

    ReplyDelete
  141. 9:57...they still have the toughest 5 remaining teams in ssb conf. LVS, EV, EAG, BRN, and Jeff...the conference is good and no one will go undefeated/untied.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Agree with 10:54 parity comment, although Woodbury has five from U17 MTA Blue that have been playing together for 5-6 years (the Div 1 players referenced earlier).

EV strength is from the U17 REV team, not U16 - nearly all goals and assists from three players.

Eagan is probably deeper in good senior talent than anyone, great majority are seniors, most from from Eagan U17 Premier, but only GK is a standout player.

Should be great conference battles, a few excellent sections, and a competitive State tourney this year.

Blake will be formidable as always - but most of their advantage comes from well executed set pieces. If you limit giving up corners on them you can slow them down. Benllde is the better overall team and deserves their #1 ranking. (no I'm not a Benilde parent ;) )

  162. LVN beats LVS 2-0. Very weird game. LVN scores a very soft goal in the first 5 minutes and generally controls play in half #1. LVS wakes up at half and dominates most of the play in the 2nd. Simone, tall forward for LVN, scores the second goal on a shot that LVS keeper could have had. LVS had trouble finishing. LVN stays undefeated

    ReplyDelete

  172. Edina?

5-2-2 with ties of Anoka and Hopkins and two losses in a row at number 2?

    Eagan?

8-1 with a victory over Woodbury at 7?

    ReplyDelete
  173. I agree, Edina doesn't belong there. Eagan has played a tougher schedule than either LVN or Edina or Centennial. Some schools will have a bad game (and lose to a lesser opponent) particularly when they have a tougher schedule. It is hard to say a team is #1 when they have played no top 10 or top 12 opponents. They MIGHT be #1 but there should be some thought put into it. Early season losses probably mean less as coaches are trying players out in different places or for differing amounts of minutes. Are the starters injured, out, not at full strength?

    ReplyDelete
  174. Buffalo, Rochester Mayo, and Kennedy...I don't think those are great victories for Eagan to crow about. Nice wins over Eastview and Woodbury. It is still too early to tell who the top dogs are and who will be left standing when sections are completed.

Three weeks and we will be done speculating and it will be win or go home.

    ReplyDelete
  175. You are picking three lesser opponents. If you compare overall schedules, compare the number of wins over ranked opponents.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Which is exactly what the QRF calculation does, first run looks like it will be on Monday 9/19.

  187. A great week of soccer on the AA last week, lots of ups and downs as expected. Here’s my review of last week’s performance:

    Exceeded Expectations - WELL DONE!!!
#1 Wayzata: Didn’t foresee them picking up all three wins this past week, as it is tough to pick up wins against multiple ranked teams within the same week. Still suspect the Trojans will have some stumbles as they start their second pass through the Lake Conference schedule, but if they can keep things going, we could be looking at the start of a two year run for this team made up of mainly juniors.
#5 Lakeville North: Took care of business over their cross-town rival LVS and continues to roll. Offense putting up solid numbers and have only let in 3 goals all season so far. Strength of schedule still not completely there yet, but things tightens up for them in the last couple of weeks of the regular season.
NR East Ridge: Haven’t been able to officially confirm the win over Eastview (for some reason game doesn’t even show on MSHSL site), but if correct I’d still chalk this week up as a success even with the loss against NR Mounds View.

    Met Expectations - Well Done!
#3 Mahtomedi: Continues to roll, but no major tests. BIG test against Woodbury coming for the marquee game of the week, should be an excellent match, likely a preview of the 4AA championship game.
#7 Eagan: Solid week, chugging their way back up to the top of the bracket after the blip against LVS.
#8 Eden Prairie: Took advantage of Edina’s setback week, but at little disappointing they couldn’t carry the momentum with the tie against Minnetonka.
#9 Woodbury: Back on track, final pre-sections gut check coming this next week against Stillwater and Mahtomedi.
#10 Minnetonka: Mixed week for them in difficult conference play, but understand they were very competitive against Wayzata.
NR Burnsville: Took care of business against LVS and rolled for the rest of the week. Have a brutal schedule coming up for the next two weeks.

    Below Expectations - Well, Done?
#2 Edina: Simon will write off both losses as a speed bump losing to two ranked teams during the week, but they need to quickly rebound as their remaining schedule doesn’t let them up for much air.
#4 Centennial: saw the blip against MG coming but didn’t predict them dropping the game. If they drop out of the top 10 in this week’s poll, their remaining schedule doesn’t have enough strength to help them back in.
#6 Eastview: was hoping they could find one win in these tough three games. Next two games will be very difficult as well.
NR Stillwater: close scores against Mahtomedi and East Ridge, but the draw against Hill-Murray hurts. Last chance to salvage their regular season coming against Woodbury on Thurs.

    Movement predictions for tonight’s poll:
    #1 Wayzata (6AA): hold at #1
    #2 Edina (2AA): down to #7
    #3 Mahtomedi: up to #2
    #4 Centennial: out
#5 Lakeville North: up to #3
    #6 Eastview: out
    #7 Eagan: up to #4
#8 Eden Prairie: up to #6
    #9 Woodbury: up to #5
#10 Minnetonka: hold at #10 (was a toss-up between keeping Tonka in or Centennial, kept Tonka in due to SoS)
    NR Burnsville: in to #8
NR East Ridge: in to #9

Things should settle down a little bit this next week, but still some great matchups coming. I’ll have my predictions ready to go as soon as the official rankings come out – good luck to all teams this week!

  188. I like it, Bold!

We did get the result vs Eastview on Sat, 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Nice BOLD! This is also Burnsville's week to decide whether they deserve to be in for more than just a week (Eastview and Eagan) then Edina and LVN. The winner of South Suburban conference will probably be one of the state tournament favorites. LVN gets Eastview and Burnsville at home and probably wont lose more than 1 of all their remaining games. Thanks for the insight BOLD

  194. Not exactly what I expected in the poll this week, but let’s go with it; QRF seems to be directionally correct but a few anomalies showing until the calc works itself out. Still see a couple of upsets coming this week, but we should start to see some settling on what the real regular season rank will end up as. Also look for coaching to start to play a more significant factor in the games as the tinkering with lines and formations solidifies for the final push forward.

None the less should be another good week of action in the AA and expect some shakeout at the top. Here’s my take on how things will shake:

#1 Wayzata (QRF 4): As mentioned before, still see the Trojans hitting some speed bumps during this season. Hopkins will likely pack it in for another draw, EP game will likely decide their conference title. Seeing T-L-W for the week the dropping back to #6
#2 Lakeville North (QRF 1): little bit more interesting for the Panthers this week, Eastview will be hungry for redemption on Thurs. Gotta go Eastview grabbing the win on Thurs, W-L-W dropping to #7.
#3 Mahtomedi (QRF 2): time to prove it this week, three lay-ups and then the big game against Woodbury. Should be a great game, somebody please post the time as it could draw a bigger crowd than the Stars. Sorry Zephyrs, but guessing W-W-W-L, dropping back to #5.
#4 Eagan (QRF 3): not an easy week, but predicting W-W back to deserved #1 with the above shakeout.
#5 Centennial (QRF 12): should be a W-W-W for the week up to #4 with the projected movement.
#6 Burnsville (QRF 7): Tough late year schedule kicks in for the Blaze, see W-L to drop to #8.
#7 Woodbury (QRF 5): Coaches show their grand plan to ensure the team is peaking at year end, W-W-W-W to #2!!!
#8 Eastview (QRF 14): Team to watch this week, they’ll be the Cinderella story if they can pull out both wins against Burnsville and LVN. Guessing drop to Burnsville but rebound win against LVN for a L-W-W to hover at #9.
    #9 Eden Prairie (QRF 6): W-W-W to #3
#10 White Bear Lake (QRF 11): sorry can’t see it happening against either Mounds View or East Ridge this week. L-L-W and out.

NR Edina (QRF 18): Overly harsh dropping out all together this week (and also a tell that something is f’d up with the QRF calc); W-W but still NR based on SoS this week.
NR East Ridge (QRF 10): However the QRF validates my belief they should have made the rankings this week. Still like the Raptors going W-W-W and getting their due at #10.
NR Minnetonka (QRF 8): Edina coming back with a mission on Tues, then a possible mental lapse against Armstrong to stir the pot even more for the 6AA. L-T-W for the week continuing for NR.
NR Mounds View (QRF 13): W-W-W, NR yet but still a likely 5AA contender.

Could end up being a very mild week in temp and results, but let’s hope for some surprises!

    ReplyDelete
  195. Thought East Ridge would move in, Eastview out, Tonka stay in, WBL still out.

This is a year when a team ranked between 5 and 15 could make a run and win State.

QRF looks better than in past years, but still serious anomalies if Edina is 18and Duluth Denfeld is ahead of them.

    ReplyDelete
  196. coaches poll still appears to be more accurate. QRF does not take into account injuries or which team controlled the play...the better team does not always win!
