There is no way EP puts 4 or 5 up on Woodbury. Woodbury is down but not that far.

St. Croix Lutheran, Minnehaha, Blake, and Breck ....in the Tri Metro. My guess is St. Croix Lutheran.

EP-Duluth to OT today? Anyone know if the game was as competitive as the score indicates?

Anonymous said...

MTA U14 boys premier team had a friendly with the DelaSalle varsity boys team and beat them. DelaSalle may not be very good at all. U14 premiers can beat some varsity teams! I believe the person posted "U14 could beat most varsity teams". Well I think they maybe right; not ALL varsity teams, but certainly SOME varsity team would lose to a U14 premier team.

DelaSalle has a soccer team? I only thought they played football.

Hey, I was just going thru last years college signee's to see how they were doing. Patrick Donyen on Inside Soccer MN was listed as verbally committed to Dayton. But is not on their roster. When I did a web search he's listed at Lee's (a NAIA school) http://news.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_174200.asp
But when I look at their roster he's not there either. Does anyone know where Patrick has ended up? It is kind of fun to see how the kids are doing.

The Strib writer has no clue about high school soccer.

I'll start by saying with all the budget problems in school districts why are two metro schools being bused to Duluth for a game?

Scool districts don't pay for it -Parents and players do.

9:52am scool? It looks like your "scool" didn't do a very good job.

Just once I would love to see the word "soccer" in Sid Hartman's article. The man is ancient, but atleast he could mention soccer on occasion. Never a single word, but we know about how successful the Mauer car business is going or where he saw Tubby Smith eating!

Owatuhgu Saiyam said...

And you read Sid's column?

Why write about something that is so irrelevant?

AA Handicapper, who do you like tonight in the bigger games?

I like:

Edina over Burnsville by a couple goals
Eagan Woodbury tie
White Bear in a squeaker over Duluth E
Eastview over CR by a couple
MV easily over Irondale
Stillwater over Blaine by a few
Wayzata easily over Elk River

Not going out on a limb too far.

ClassAA Girls Guy- I think your picks are solid.

Bville and Edina might be a little closer.

I would have had Eagan and Woodbury as a pick 'em game too but what is up with last night's tie with Buffalo? Have to go with Woodbury by a goal.

ClassAA Girls Guy said...

AA Handicapper, I thought that was a typo, but goes to show that anything can happen. Like you, I'm going a bit by past results with the Edina v Burnsville game as Burnsville is coming off a stunning tie with Shakopee.

AA Handicapper said...

Shakopee may surprise. I heard they held their own against Centennial in a scrimmage. See what they do against a pretty good Rosemount team.

Anonymous said...

Rosemount won 1-0, should have been 4. B-Ville is not a good team.

Anonymous said...

looks like burnsville and edina tied. either burnsville is better than people thought or edina is worse. or it was a fluke. anyone see it?

Anonymous said...

Did not see it but I think it is a little of both.

Anonymous said...

If Rosemount only beat Burnsville 1-0 and Burnsville is not a good team, I guess Rosemount is not a very good team either right now.

Anonymous said...

NEWSFLASH.....

It's High school soccer.. There are no good teams!! Yes, I know some of you will say What about Woodbury and EP. I've seen them play also and that's not good soccer either. Yes they are better than most but still not good.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the newsflash you who are such a soccer aficionado. Let the kids play and have fun. Support their efforts and get over yourself.

Anonymous said...

1:48pm I do agree with you for the most part, but I also agree with 2:07pm. Granted HS soccer sucks, but the kids have fun playing with friends and in front of their school group. So as much as HS soccer is one big large joke, the kids should have fun and I'll go out and support our HS team. Look at this way, it's only about 7 more weeks of sucky soccer!

Anonymous said...

A decent article on school soccer in MN Soccer Times this week.

please note: Please do not use this post as an invitation to bash MYSA- another old beaten down topic.

Anonymous said...

I guess the question for 1:48 is.....what is good soccer in his/her mind for kids of that age here in MN?

Anonymous said...

Premier, MRL, DA and ECNL are good soccer for kids in MN. High School soccer is glorified rec ball.

Anonymous said...

I've seen MN premier and it is average at best. DA is what two teams? ECNL is three (with one being U15's-and last years MTA team wasn't that special). MRL Premier - yes, many other MRL teams - no, IMO.
So to sum it up what are we truly talking about 10+ MN teams.
If you took that same selective process and only took the top 10 MN high school teams than the quality gap would be closer than you think. Just as there are hundreds of lower quality high school teams, there are hundreds and hundreds of lower level quality club teams.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of Soccer Times the article in it from the MYSA president totally misses the mark and fails to answer the question he was trying to address.

Anonymous said...

The quality of HS soccer sucks. You have 3-4 good players playing with a bunch of c2, c3 and rec players. So you made varsity, but where do you play for the other 9 months! But you know what; they get to have some fun for 3 months and just play soccer.

Anonymous said...

Ok we can agree to disagree that HS soccer sucks, but let's still talk about it!!!

ClassAA Girls Guy said...

If you asked every single varsity soccer athlete in MN if the level of HS varsity sucks, my guess is maybe 10% would agree. Maybe. For most others it is THE highest level of soccer they'll play.

Ask that 10% mentioned above to then stop playing if they think the level sucks and 100% of them will continue to play - because it's social and it's a blast to represent your HS on the field.

You guys can say HS soccer sucks all you want but I've seen more tears after HS section losses than tears shed after State Cup, MRL, DA, and ECNL losses.

It's a compact and intense season. Let the kids enjoy it. There is plenty of time for "elite" club soccer the other 10 months of the year.

Owatuhgu Saiyam said...

"Premier, MRL, DA and ECNL are good soccer for kids in MN."

Compared to what?

How many national championships does MN have? Seems pretty sucky to me.

Just because something is better doesn't mean it doesn't suck as well.

Anonymous said...

7:45pm What is your problem? Give MN sometime and I think you'll see some national champs in the future. Let's put it this way, we have more and more immigrants (who say they're 16, but actually 19) moving in each year. We'll see results soon unless you all get deported by than!

Anonymous said...

6:05pm Spoken like a c2 player who made varsity! But with that said, yes go out an enjoy HS soccer and we'll see you in November for some real soccer.

WBL 2-1 over ER
Edina 3-1 over Jeff
Sillwater 2-0 over AV
Eagan 4-0 over Farmington
MV 3-1 over Park

Anonymous said...

Babo matured physically before many girls. And no doubt she's a terrific soccer player, one of the best in the state. I just don't know if she'll dominate like years past. Many of the girls have caught up to her in size, strength, speed and skills.

Anonymous said...

1:22pm. No one is holding anything against you because your child is a c2 player. Hey, they're playing soccer and that's great.
But why do c2 and c3 parents and players think they're so great because they won state, a tournament or made varsity. Sure be proud, but you have to remember that your child is not on a top club team. And so they made varsity, how many kids on that varsity team are above the c2 level (I'm sure a handful). I just find in very funny that c2/c3 parents think their kid is the 2nd coming of Mia Hamm or David Beckham.

Mister Football said...

The players that hate on the C2, C3 and high school players are clueless. Compared to what else is out there, they too kind of suck.

As I pointed out 4 months ago, our premier players think they are hot stuff in May. Then they come crying home from regionals with their tails between their legs.

Anonymous said...

231, the second coming of Beckham, now thats hilarious!!!

Anonymous said...

Mister Football. I take it you never made a premier, MRL, DA type team. Jealous no doubt. Maybe MN teams don't have much success outside of MN YET, but just wait. They're still the top players in our state, but I guess that's not good enough for you. It really sounds like maybe you don't like the game and you should go try out for another sport. Oh and by the way, no other sport in MN (with the exception of the latest Little League team from Plymouth) have much success outside MN. Enjoy the state for what we have or move!

Anonymous said...

The 2nd coming of Beckham when he was good, but the same could be said about Hamm. Still I agree with 231p. I have two neighbors down the street; one neighbors kid is on a c2 team that one state. The other neighbors kid is on a MRL team and is being recruited by D1 colleges. At neighborhood parties, the c2 parent is boasting about how good their kid is along with constant facebook posts. The other neighbor just sits and smiles. When varsity teams were announced, the c2 parent throws a party. Again the MRL parent (also varsity) just sits and smiles. I understand being proud, but look outside the box people and realize the truth!

ClassAA Girls Guy said...

2:31, I don't have a C2 player kid. My question was simple to 9:56, who was responding to my earlier post. I'm pretty confident that in terms of this so-called "real" soccer experience 9:56 talks about, I've had more than he/she has had. I'm just wondering why they choose to pass judgment on any C2 player who happens to make varsity.

You ask why do C2 and C3 parents think it's so great to win state or make varsity. It's all relative. I'm sure if you had a DA or ECNL player, you'd be as excited if they won the national championship. That each disparages the other is ludicrous. To each their own... in everything.

Anonymous said...

Really why are c2 and c3 parents so vocal about everything their kid does? It is relative, but come on stop and think - YOUR KID WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY C1 OR ABOVE!

Anonymous said...

Beckhams popularity was mostly due to girls and woman going nuts over his appearance and yes he could also "bend it like Beckham." IMHO he wasn't that great a player, but he was definately the most popular.

Anonymous said...

I just received this post from MLS on my Facebook post. It is the 2nd coming of Beckham - wait it is Beckham!

First, Anonymous rips on MN high school soccer as though he/she is the second coming of Beckham/Hamm.

Second, Anonymous claims that MN premier soccer is a high level of play despite MN having 1 national championship ever from 1990.

Third, Anonymous mocks C2 players for thinking they are the second coming of Beckham/Hamm.

Fourth, Anonymous forgets how much success MN teams and individuals have in hockey.

Fifth, Anonymous is ignorant to the idea that MN premier is not the end all be all in the sport.

3:13 and 3:34-

So you have never heard the parent of a premier levle or above player crow about how great their kid is or where they are traveling to play in the winter? Better get one of those earwax removal kits, and quick.

Anonymous said...

Who knew this site was so full of average c2 or below parents! Your kid sucks, face the facts!

Anonymous said...

My son played on premier level club teams and also won a "AA" Minnesota State HS Championship a few years back. He enjoyed both experiences.
In all fairness however his HS team that won State was loaded with players who played on various clubs' premier teams. I think that was the case for 7-8 of the starters.
Was the level of play as high as his club team? No...but it wasn't bad soccer just a lot more direct.
I think HS soccer is a good thing for the kids. It gives many of the players who are "role" players on their club teams to be one of the stars in HS.
Enjoy the HS season while it lasts because if you blink it's over!

Mahtomedi 3-1 over Woodbury? Interesting.

Woodbury's run is over. The talent is now split between 2 schools and Abboud is coaching at East Ridge.
Woodbury had a great run hope they enjoyed it!

Anonymous said...

East Ridge 2-1 over Hill-Murray on Saturday. H-M dominated play except for 5 minutes in the second half. Hats off to ER, they took advantage of it and put two in (one off a corner) during that time to come away with the victory. The point is that with East Ridge's win over White Bear and Woodbury's loss to Mahtomedi and watching Saturday's matchup, you realize how wide open that Section will be come playoff time (all four of those teams are in the same AA Section). For that matter, just how wide open AA may be this year. Lots of soccer to play yet, but it should be fun to watch for once, without a clear cut winner going in to it.

Gopher Women win again...beat #14 nationally ranked San Diego. Now 5-1 on the season.
Not bad for a bunch of girls from Minnesota with many from the Bangu/MTA program.

Anonymous said...

I was at the Hill game as well. Though I don't think Hill dominated for 75 minutes, they clearly owned the first half with the strong wind at their backs and played very well in the second. A roster-thinned ER looked lost in the first half but tactical changes led to a better second half performance and the win.

Agree completely about 4AA being completely up for grabs and exciting. Stillwater, Woodbury, WBL, ER, or Hill could win it, with Hill being a definite darkhorse in my books.

Had the pleasure of watching Wisconsin Men's team beat Santa Clara at UC Irvine Classic 2 - 1. Three Minnesota players in the starting line-up. Ryan Vint in goal had some excellent saves and commanded the box. Paul Yonga had a solid game going 90 minutes in his first D1 game will only get stronger. Colin Monasterio was the best player on the pitch, yes they were playing a CA team with a solid reputation. All should be major contributors to a young Badger team. MN does produce talented D1 players at the men's level.

Saw a Maine HS game this past weekend. Maine HS league rules require all players to wear mouthguards.

Very ridiculous! How Stupid! Half of mouthguards were hanging out the player's mouths with the referee constantly reminding them to wear them properly.

If you have braces or if you suffer from concussions a player should be able to decide. It shouldn't be required for all players.

If you think communication is lacking now in most youth games you should hear the sound of silence or the garble from a game where all the players are wearing mouthguards

Don't count Woodbury out. They have lots of talent and great work ethic on that team. They may not live up to last year's performance in the 2010 season, but look for a stronger, more mature team in 2011. They got the larger soccer talent pool of current Jrs and Soph when the area split for the new high school.

EP over Wayzata 2-1. I would expect Burnsville to get on the Top 10 list soon. They seem ok but in reality it is primarily because of their easier schedule now. Don't think they play a top 10 team the whole year now that Eagan and Rosemount aren't ranked.

Are the Prairie Seeds good at soccer because they are African/minority players or are they good because they are good soccer players? Do you have to be a minority or African/ minority player to be a good soccer player in Minnesota? Cannot good soccer players be from middle class white families? Cannot good students be from African/ minority families? When you determine the ability of soccer players based on the color of skin, then yes that is racist. I think you know this is faulty thinking but find yourself wanting to take some credit for player’s superiority. Or perhaps you’re trying to excuse some player’s lack of skill due to their genetics? I don’t know which it is but it is racism. Superior players have earned their superiority thru hard work, it has not been breed or ordained into them.

Stop playing the victim, start owning your past post. If you don’t like being a racist you may want to re think some of your past post.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Prairie Seeds Academy largely attracts Hmong students, with a focus to strenghen the Hmong culture. By the way, Hmong are a People, not a race. And if you don't know the difference between the Hmong and Black Americans, you have a real problem. Now, back to HS soccer, please.

Anonymous said...

Check out the Little House on the Prairie Seeds roster. There isn't a Hmong name on that roster. The names look East African to me. Not that I care, Hmongs or African-Americans are free to play on the Prairie.

LC - I agree with all the socializing, fun, friends, school spirit, etc in HS soccer is great. But, the quality of soccer in HS is not good. Some HS are fantastic, but there are many more HS that are just not good at all.

Ok, you’re wrong. They are no longer a Charter School trying to attract the Hmong Community they are trying to now attract the Global community. Please note their varsity roster: Mayolo Beltran, Eric Gaye, Christian Dominguez, Isaac Kanneh, Ishmael Jome, Sekou Kamara, Adama Keita, Ibrahim Keita, Gerald Ben, Phillip Paye, Roberto Dominguez, Sirleaf Wiah, Oscar Cendejas, Carlos Boquin. (FYI Prairie Seeds are a high school soccer team)

For anyone who has participated or read this blog for any length of time should be well aware of Mr. Soccer views. He makes no secret of them. He just doesn't think they are racist. He just thinks those are the facts and any minority player who is successful just goes to prove his point.

Not sure what's up tonight in the north, south or west, but here in the east it's about as big as they get when Woodbury travels to Stillwater for a double-feature.

Boys, 5pm: Woodbury (#2, 2-0-1) v. Stillwater (#8, 4-1)
Girls, 7pm: Woodbury (#8, 3-2) v. Stillwater (#3, 7-0)

Your 2010 Suburban East champions will arise from these games.

Quick question regarding the "Seeds". Where did those boys play last year? If not at the Prairie, how are they eligible?

Weird. A school that has an AD that has a soccer background and no american football team is having very quick success. Ok, maybe that isn't weird, maybe light is being shed on what is wrong with high school sports-AD's that all come from football or basketball...

Prairie Seeds was thumping some other teams (ranked 2A teams) last fall until it was determined that several upperclassmen were ineligible to play. PSA didn't do as well (or that bad) with a bunch of freshman. The upperclassmen this year are mostly kids that had to sit out last fall. And don't kid yourselves, the school was built around the soccer programs and PSA even hired a marketing firm to come up with its MS and HS mascots. But PSA is playing within the MSHSL rules (at least this year), so it will be a force to be reckoned with.

"Rule Change Highlights for 2010:
• Beginning in Fall 2012, shinguards must have NOCSAE seal and height range permanently marked on front of shinguard.
• Beginning in Fall 2012, the home team shall wear solid white jerseys and solid white socks. The visiting team will wear dark jerseys and socks.
• Beginning in Fall 2012, goalkeepers will be required to have a number on the front and back of their jerseys or shorts that is different than any other number used by other players on the team "

All these new rules will cost the players and schools money. Nice! Right during a recession where schools are cutting programs and parents are having to make tough choices between soccer and other activities.

Why does the USMNT lag behind the rest of the world?

-It's not due to race as we have one of the most diverse rosters in the world.
-It's not due to athleticism as we have one of the most athletic rosters in the world.
-It's not due to coaching as there are a lot of bad and/or inexperienced coaches who win a lot of big matches.

So why does it take a last second goal to beat Algeria or a botched save to tie England?

Mr. Soccer was called racist partly because of his comments on 28/6/10 9:35 AM. IMHO his most offensive comment..."He comments on our middle class players (aka white players / Donovan) not having the hunger or the technical ability of the rest of the world.....Just look here in MN. Our best players are our minority boys. But our numbers are low. Very few of our top talent is coming from inner Minneapolis and St. Paul." He's comments regarding the Prairie Seeds are very similar.

Yes, it racist not a class issue when you point out that Donovan is "white" and in your opinion not very good. (LOL) I love that you think Donovan not very good. At worse I think Donovan was over hyped in the media, because they needed to hang their hat on someone.

But as far as HS Soccer goes this is not the first sport or the first charter/private school that sells itself on athletics and then recruits teams that can beat AA teams. DeLaSalle basketball comes to mind.

Anonymous said...

I don't care what color a player is, but I do care if they're legal immigrants to the US. I also have huge concerns about some of the ages of these immigrants! How many players are out there right now that say there a certain age, but in all actuality they have no idea how old the are. I've seen immigrant boys that are playing U12/U13 with full facial hair, deep voices and bodies that clearly look like their 16-17 years old.

Anonymous said...

Dental testing for all immigrants to check their ages for youth soccer. This should be paid for by MYSA in the spirit of fair play. Oh, and the parents should have to prove legal residency before the kid can get a player pass. (And these kids should all have to wear tennis shoes or hand me down shoes if they are getting any scholarship help).

Anonymous said...

But haven't Gulati, Rongen and Klinsmann all said things about targeting the hispanic, black and inner city communities for our youth development. Klinsmann saying that those kids have more hunger. Anon 1:19 referring to immigrant kids who do dream of playing soccer. And wasn't it even Donovan who said the Americans, himself included, just aren't technically skilled enough to play at a world class speed and level.

Seems to me like it's a fact that most of our top players are immigrant players who do come from families with more of a soccer background.

2) Youth development for what purpose? To win the world cup?

Anonymous said...

Stillwater girls will win 5-3. They score like crazy but defense is also weak. Woodbury will put a few in.

Anonymous said...

I'd say the youth development for US Basketball is doing just fine. Basketball is part of our culture. It's more natural for the US to be good at basketball. Our kids develop in the streets and on driveways all across the country.

People complain about the poor quality in HS Soccer. Do people in HS Basketball have the same complaints?

Anonymous said...

HS Basketball is different than HS soccer. Youth basketball is played within their school boundaries. You're basically a free agent when it comes to soccer, you're free to play with any club or with any club that recruits you. My child has been playing basketball with the same group of kids since 2nd grade with a good amount of success. Winning youth state tournaments a couple of years in a row. Their all 9th graders at the same HS this year. In the next year or two look out. Now my same child plays MRL soccer with MTA (haters come out). He plays with kids from all over the metro area. There are no other club players from his team that go to HS with him. He made varsity soccer as a 9th grader. There is no other MRL, Premier, etc type player on his HS team (9-12 grade). A couple of C1, but mostly C2 players. Basically he's playing for fun and to be part of his HS. He knows and we know that the next two months of soccer will be frustrating, but he's having fun. So yes, some HS programs have very poor quality of soccer. Why? Because HS soccer teams typically don't come together in elementary school and stay together thru HS. Youth basketball, hockey and baseball are tied in with their HS.

Anonymous said...

true 5:20 and an excellent comparison. the only issues are the AAU basketball summer teams and summer legion baseball teams (in many ways similar to the highest level club teams - MTA, on the girls side the EP U18's, last years WDB Inferno, SCV, etc... just for a much shorter time). the AAU basketball teams and legion baseball teams make the high school basketball/baseball teams look just like the often used comparison on this blog between the club soccer and hs soccer teams. Those summer teams also probably have as much if not more college recruitng impact as the high school season as well.

Anonymous said...

Youth football is the same deal. They play within the HS boundaries and than all kids feed into the same HS. There's always kids that move-in to district, move-out and quit.

Anonymous said...

All the previous statements are very true. Look the apple valley high school team last year. The reason they were so dominant is that 8 of those players have played together since they were 10 years old. To have that many players playing together at that high of a level will most likely never happen again in high school soccer. Most schools are lucky if they have 2 or 3 kids from one premier team

I don't think anyone would agrue that we need to get more inner city communities involved in our youth development. Right now, they are often excluded because of the cost and travel! Yes, those communities and players do have more hunger, just as those same communities are the communities that have driven the sucess of football, basketball and baseball. That is a completely different comment than those that Mr. Soccer has made.

As far as the cultural thing I'm just not buying it. Sorry, our family doesn't watch the queens, we don't watch the twinkeys but we do watch the Stars, Fox Soccer, World Cup, and have made several out of state trips just to watch a soccer game. Is that the culture your talking about?

Anonymous said...

9:43am. I don't recall ever seeing SSP teams win anything of high value (State Cup, State, tournaments). I see the highest level team they have right now is a U16 C1 that went 2-7-1 this past summer. They have a few C2 and C3 teams. I know for a fact that the current SSP HS team has an 8th grader on the team that plays for MA's MTA premier U15 team.
Which brings us right back again; the quality of HS is not the greatest. But, this SSP HS team has found some success with a bunch of C2 and C3 players and good for them.
6:25pm. You are right, Apple Valley boys have stuck together and I do agree that this might be the last club/HS team that does that.

Owatuhgu Saiyam said...

Last I checked, Christiano, Lionel, Kaka and Dempsey are white. Again, Anonymous makes no sense.

So you guys are saying HS Soccer teams are bad because they don't play together very often?

I'd say it's because the players are bad. Look at national teams...they don't play together very often. Look at the USA BBall team. It has nothing to do with familiarity and camaraderie. Very important things, but they don't turn a bad player into a good player.

I think Dempsey is caucasion. I don't know. His nickname is Deuce. He likes mexican food. He's from Texas. His parent's names are Aubrey and Debbie. Not very telling.

But it's not about race. It's about culture. He was raised poor in a trailer. He was a scholarship player for his youth club. He wouldn't have played unless some other families paid for him. Now he's making $3 mil per year at Fulham.

Anonymous said...

I like the Idea of Prairie Seeds but they have no right to play in the MSHSL they still are violating the rules on a daily basis, year round training being an easy one to prove and players playing for the coach during restricted times. They will be more succesful and less controversial if they stayed independant. I hope thay have continued success but they are still not playing by the rules.

Mister Soccer said...

Rules that restrict development are dumb.

10:27 AM -- I get it now. It's about being poor and having the hunger to make millions as a soccer player. The "rich" (as determined by Obama/Dayton)financially support the development of our poor but hungry youth. Of course, the payoff is a winning world cup team, right?

I've heard that Stillwater kids all come from SCV because they are afraid if they leave to play somewhere else that they will not be starters in high school.

Rumours for years that PJ is quite clear.

Anonymous said...

Surrre. Why would you leave? Not really any better options in the area. Woodbury? White Bear? Hudson? I'm sure PJ wouldn't start somebody who is clearly deserving. Some of you people and your "rumours."

Saiyam - I agree familiarty is good but overrated.

9/9 11:27 - I think SSP is a good side. They are in a tough section with St Croix, Simley and the Zephyrs, but consistently contend year after year. My point is their club looses very few players and playing together for years is overrated.

11:14 I believe Mister Soccer is talking about the MSHSL rules that says that the HS coach can have little contact with his or hers players outside the HS season. This rule made sense years ago, but in the age of year-round training it is antiquated. A player should be able to work with the best available coach, albeit the HS coach or a club coach.

Woodbury boys beat Jefferson yesterday by 3-2 score.
Jefferson led 2-0 at half before Woodbury's Eric Miller took over and scored 3 goals in the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half.
Miller should be Mr Soccer this year unless they decide to pick the player with most goals and not the best player.

Miller is a special player.

Miller has excelled for his club and ODP teams. He has been on the Minnesota ODP team from 2006-2010 and has made the regional team each of those years as well. He captained the Region II ’93 (2008-2009) team and has made it to several interregional teams and international teams, playing in both Spain in 2008 and Argentina in 2009. He has been selected again to attend the interregional team this year which he will be attending in late March. “We are going to Italy, Austria and Germany in a 10-day trip that is going to be just unbelievable,” said an excited Miller.

This past year, Miller was one of only two Minnesotans selected to attended the 2009 Adidas Elite Select Program (ESP) program along with Paul Yonga. ESP is a personal-invitation-only event where the very brightest talent in the US is selected to attend.
